89 xt but he didnt say xt6. im more interested in the rear brakes and the front shocks and struts but id be willing to pick off other things for people on here as long as they were sure they woudl pay for them because i dont have xtra bucks to pay for something that no one wants to buy. Ben -

yea me dropin another hundy on the car after i just did a couple weeks ago for brakes isnt a good idea. Im going to just take her easy and hope she gets through august. If its gonna go this is the month. I might still flush it. Not with a chemical but i had kinda cruddy heat this winter so im thinkin the heater core needs a good flushin and ill try to blast the lower radiator while im at it. Ben -

im that way where i like to replace things just so i have piece of mind. but with a subaru its different because so much is in the way. I was told to go ahead and do a water pump and crank shaft seal if i was going to be in there anyways doing the timeing belts. Since its a pain in the butt to take all that stuff off why not just do it once and be done with it. I have a heating problem too but its not bad. Just when i go fast it heats up. Ill do something about it when it becomes a problem. Ive got a parts car now and she seems to be working alright. I think i have the original radiator, and cap as well. Ben -

sorry to hyjack a thread but mine climbs to half or even 3/4 when im doin bout 70 on the highway. you think that with the added airflow it might run cooler but since the engine is running harder. Ive been told that the temp gauges on these vehicles are marginal at best. Try an aftermarket gauge if your worried but it sounds like youve done everything except the water pump which in my opinion should be replaced when you did timeing belts. Ben -
on every vehicle ive ever owned if it blinks fast its either a bulb or a massive electrical problem. Hope for the bulb. Ben

ok ive been trying to go this route with my wagon and this is what i have been told or come up with. You can use the new kyb struts for the front you just need the xt springs. That is what lowers your car. For the rear is the tricky one. People like to say use aftermarked coilovers but like you i lack the funds. Someone told me on here that if you flip the top had on the rear it should lower you about an inch. Go ahead and get new struts for the rear as well. There has been some debate on weather to chop 1 rung off the rear spring. Might defeat the purpose because its more for looks then actual use. And keep away from calezb:grin: those are my springs and struts i just cant afford the 800 bucks for shipping:) (just kidding) Ben

See connie id send it to ya but i know how much your wantin a white 4wd wagon so i might not get it back:grin: I dont know about cutting out any metal. No metal is through its all surface rust. Ive started some prep work with the spots and rusted scratches. Ill half to check what paint i bought but i think its krylon. Just a primer with a white enamel. Just something to cover it up make it look semi one color. Some of the places it is rusted i half to remove the rubber molding around the front and back glass. Same as anything, easy to take off hard to put back on. there is one thing connie i do need your advise on. The dreaded sub frame rot. Its only in one spot under the drivers side floor and its not bad but its not good. What can i do to stop and possibly fix this. P.s. i have some trim holes to fill in is that glass bondo cheep i only need alittle for like 8 holes bour the size of a quarter. Ben

Starting the rust repair (not that bad). Any fellow rust repairers have any advise. Heres what im starting out with.

Quick Brake Question
The Dude Abides replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its still 1stsubaru.com websight but the parts werent cheeper. I got my rotors for 25 bucks each. Buy the way. Kudos to subaru for makeing a brake job quite terrable. Even with the help of mick and the right tool it still stunk. Give me a american car brake job any day. But the deed is done and i can stop now. Funny thing that wheel beariing noise went away:grin: . Thanks for your help again mick. It was too hot to do that stuff but it needed to be done. Ben -

The Dude Abides replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...

are you sure there 15 x 6. the only reason i ask is because ive been checking and i cant find any 6 inch wide rims for an isuzu only 6 1/2 and 7 Ben
-
thank you very much that was exactly what i wanted to see. i bet if you had just 6 inch rims they wouldnt stick out at all. How much did you pay for those. im looking into a factory isuzu spider web design. Ben
