  1. Might be easier for you folks to find pugs in your neck of the woods but here in the midwest i bet its darn imposible. Your right about the weight which is what i considered and i thought the offset and the width on some of the wheels (mazda) werent that bad. I duno i guess ill just keep the 13s on till i can con mcbrat from the chrome ones on his blue brat:) Ben
  2. It seems that alot of people who look to add some handling or looks to there car automaticaly think pugs. My question is that with what the aftermarket is today why not go 6 lug. With toyota, mazda, and chevy wheels fitting the 6 lug altercation why not go this route. You are likely to get some lightweight wheels in almost any application you wish. Size and width polished, aluminum. It seems endless. So why not go 6 lugs with more wheel options then just pugs which are harder to find. Ben
  3. Theres one thing you can say about rocky is that he did the dragon. Not many people can say theyve done that. There was an article in sport compact magazine about the dragon, looks wicked. The guy said he was gettin all woosy from the constant turning and he wasnt even driveing. Ben
  4. I just looked at where you were located at. If youve gone through all the above things mentioned, better lights, aimed correctly, clean. Have you checked to makesure your battery is up to par as well, how about your alternator. All the connections are tight. But even if this is so in your neck of the woods, a set of aftermarket driveing lights wouldnt be a bad idea, Aimed up high to hit those dear in the eyes and let them know your commin. Ive been wanting to add some aftermarket lights to mine just havent had the time. If your so inclined the gls sometimes came with foglights and theres a factory switch that mounts up on the dash. If you could find one that would be slick. Ben
  5. did you check to see if your lenses are dirty or scratched. I have sylvan silverstars in my car and there great. I cant say much for the gl style because i have a dl but those are much brighter. Aftermarket lights on the bottom side of the bumper will light things up considerably though. Ben
  6. IM sorry ive got to say it. I understand those are super rare wheels but just lookin at pics of your coupe ive got to say it again. Pugs But looks awsome either way. Ben
  7. There saying dont waste a good soob. As long as its not a turbo id go with option 3. These cars make good daily drivers. Fix whats wrong and leave it alone unless something breaks. Especially if its fuel injected. Good fuel miles. Ben
  8. I guess another question is that if that thermostat isnt as good as the oem one. then should we be useing suby thermostats in chevys:)
  9. Ive got the easy part just switchin a tranny and a transfer case, you need to switch out a whole load of parts. I still dont know if im going to go up. Money is so tight ill probally just leave it alone. I did find some structure rust while i was lookin at the balljoint the other day. I need to take care of it before it takes care of me. Ben
  10. now now now lifts mean more breakeage, loss of gass mileage, probable weekends not at home but hangin in the woods with some dude in a red brat tellin me i should be able to make that. Ben
  11. Our subaru dealership here in iowa is terrable. Is there anyway i can purchase parts from a dealership in washington and they could mail them to me. Ben
  12. 2 hyjack a thread 1 What does the PVC Valve Do 2 If you havent changed it, would you recomend it. I dont believe im haveing any pvc valve problems, but then again i would know what they were. Ben
  13. http://www.ccrengines.com/mwe/ Amazon.com Here are the Links
  14. believe it or not i could probally sandblast these one at a time at my work. But 1 i would half to take the tire off the wheel. 2 might be alittle hard to smuggle them in. 3 might take alittle long and someone might notice me being gone most of the day. Ben
  15. Finally fixed the 4wd I found the port where the missing vacume hose went, boy they didnt make it easy. Pluged it in sat in the car and the 4wd light came on. So the vacume lines were switched around fixed that pushed the button 4wd baby Pulled onto a construction sight i just had to try it. Pushed the button in. 4 wheel drive i cant say it enough. Pushed in my finely tuned clutch and stepped on thegas. I was thrown into my seat usually when i do this i get some wheel spin, nada i take off to the first turn turn into it and to my suprise the rear whips around the rear whips around. at this point in laughing and giggling like a school girl lol i take another turn on some dirt whip it around again. This is a hoot im totally stoked so i come to a stop to check things out. Look over mud. At this point i didnt care put it in gear and take off. drive through the slop kickin up mud and crud. I tell you what i really missed out on what this car was capable of during winter. Get through the nasties and i laugh. Pull out onto the road turned the 4wd off. It did hesitate when it turned off but eventually it did. Now my car is slopy with pride. I might half to rethink this going lower thing. That is my first time 4wd subaru story Ben
  16. how important is it to sandblast the whole wheel. Im not talking just front and back. Im talking about the part the wheel goes over where the air is:)
  17. Just curious if anyone here in iowa or anyone else out there knows where i could get my wheels sandblasted. I dont want them painted i can do that. Ben
  18. More then likely youve bought a rebuild one which if you would of joined sooner we would of told you it was junk. For some reason most aftermarket aplications cant make a cvshaft to quite match what the factory did, hence the clicking. My Advise Leave it on there. Check out GCK Axels from Amazon.com if they dont have them look up on this websight MWE Axels. Or if you can find a brand new factory axel get that. When you get your new axel take the old one back to the parts store and get your money back. Ben
  19. Get your Ea82 Engine Happy First Before you do anything, drive it for a bit and see how she runs, leaks what not. plugs, wires - ngk cap, rotor - stock with this one if it aint broke leave it alone. many people will tell you nightmare situations theyve had when messing with a perfectly good distributor. front, or rear cv shafts - unless there broken dont replace them. Again these cars are finikey and people have a hard time haveing anything but a stock replacement work right. MWE Axels are good i hear, so are GCK but i dont think amazon.com has them anymore. Clean your iac, and your maf Check your suspension for slop, make sure its good n tight. Wix oil filter and your choice of oil Seafoam the oil, intake, and fuel system. Stock fuel filter Check your bearings, if bad replace with stock if possible. Timeing belts - replace Coolant, flush it, if your radiator even hints of looking bad replace it. Look on here about people replaceing there radiators with 2 row ones. Stock thermostat Check your brakes. Whatever works is fine. I hope your mechanical savy, welcome to the ea82 world Ben leave the gun, take the canoli
  20. Gd You crack me up. Tide13 you poor poor man. Always Always Always keep the legacy and find extra money for the loyale. The loyale is a fine automobile but listen to gd he knows what hes talking about. Forget the rest of the stuff and do your carb swap. It sounds like you paid enough for your 87 but again you shold of tried to keep your legacy. On the other hand i love my dl wagon. Read up extensively on what to do, what parts to buy, how to do it. Etc Etc. Vast amount of knowledge on here and plenty of people willing to guide you in the right direction. Ben
  21. eek with all the stuff youll be moveing i dont know if batter power would last but its something to check into. I only wish i had that type of air compressor lieing around. Ben
  22. Just so you know you were right, the cable just needed adjusted. Since i have a subaru dl and im going to be putting on some parts only available in gl trim package i was wondering if i could call my car. 1988 Subaru GD Ben
  23. ok heres the deal as im sure you know. You have 20plus year old car. You are going to need that impact wrench, it will make it go sooooo much faster and easier. Anyone you know have one you can transport easily. Ben
