  4. no the problem i was haveing is i was only seeing 1 connection on the diaphram
  5. interesting because we didnt see 2 connections on the diaphram. I will give it a clean sweep tomorrow. Any idea as to which one gets hooked up to which. Ben
  6. I know I know mick you said look it up in the manual. But its burried so far deep in the shed theres no way im gonna be able to find it. Especially after packing it even further:grin: My 4wd doesnt work. McBrat tracked it down to possibly 2 vacume hoses going off of the solenoids. One goes to the actuator but we couldt figure out where the other one went. Any ideas Buy the way ea82 push button 4wd Ben
  7. Fixed. Clutch Cable needed adjusted. Thanks Again McBrat. Ben
  8. Ok first of all stop relax and welcome aboard. Time and time again on this websight people have had problems with certain brands of cvaxels for subarus. They dont remanufacture them right so heres where you get your new axels next time. GCK Axels from amazon.com http://www.ccrengines.com/mwe/ they remanufacture bad suby axels buy hand. As far as the radiator same thing. Order something from subaru people. About the same as a napa and they definately are less likely to screw something up. Good Luck in the Future Doings with your Vehicle. Ben
  9. What did you say, Why You Little Im just playin. I love to get my hands dirty. I was only commenting about how some people with automatic transmission encounter more problems when they change out there fluid. Ill half to price the fluid and the gear oil. Doesnt royal purple make a gear oil. I will make this my first priority before i change the cable if needed. Ben In fact i should just buy a big thing of atf because i need to flush out my power steering system from all that power steering fluid i put in.
  10. Now remember i dotn think this has ever been changed. Do i really want to go cleanout things on a 200thousand mile car. I understand toping off the fluids to remove the potential problem but if i start puttin in new fluid wont that make problems that werent there before very aparent afterwards. Ben
  11. Forget the steering wheel, where did you get the gauge pod.
  12. Well at 200000 thousand miles i dont think the gear oil has ever been replaced. I have no idea on how about to do that. Or where even to get gear lube. Why not get power purple, i heard that is good for rearends.
  13. ohhh good one i didnt think of that. But its a manual tranny are you able to check that with a dipstick. I didnt think manuals came with one. Ben
  14. Ok ive talked about this before but ill rehash it again. 1988 Suby DL Wagon SPFI Push Button 4wd I find that i have troble shifting from gear to gear. Now this only happens after its been warmed up after a while. When i first start out in the morning it works find but as i get closer to work and the car warms up more it becomes incresingly harder to shift from gear to gear. Its almost grinding into each gear. After its been warmed up i cant put it into reverse without turning the car off. Which is the only way i can put it into reverse and almost 1st gear but again only after its been warmed up. Ive heard syncros, clutch cable, tranny forks. It does have a new clutch in it though. Ben
  15. My heat wasnt the best this winter so i plan on going over the whole car this summer. My question is as far as being the best method and cost effective. Now IMHO i was under the impression that the dealerships did the best job. Theyve got the machine to suck out all the old coolant and replace it with new. Grandted this is 50 to 70 bucks for them to do but doesnt that do a much better job then doing it yourself. You dont half to dispose of old coolant and you get to keep half of your day. I dont like the idea of someone else i cant see working on my car but kinda hard not to spill coolant when doing this job. Also does anyone know if when they use that machine at the shop that it removes the coolant from the heater core. Ben
  16. Ok 2 Questions. 1. What type of oil does everyone run there subaru. I know people have there own personal choice but i was just curious as to what some people have had the best luck with. 2. As far as being cost effective or being just plane lazy. I can get a oil change at a dealership for 20 bucks plus tax. At the rate of oil going for 3 bucks a quart and the price of a oil filter im right there on price. And i dont half to dispose of the old oil. Is it just lazy to have the dealership do it when i could do it myself. Or is it being cost effective. Remember i live in an apartment complex so id be doing it out there. Ben
  17. what is the widest one should go. i was looking at some isuzu wheels that were 7 and 1.2 but i think thats to much. I thought the widest was 7 Ben
  18. Just curious. I know about the 6 lug conversion you can do to these cars but i was wondering. Since pugs are hard to find would it be possible to do a 6 lug conversion and throw on some nissan aluminum truck wheels but instead of putting on big off road tires you would put on some low profile ones. My only question is the backspaceing. If they would stick out to much or would they tuck into the fenderwells. Ben
  19. Let me know im interested to meet some new people and actually get to work on a car.
  20. Dude every year thats alot of money to pony out every year. Id atleast say every other year. I thought you could get at least 30 thousand out of a tuneup. And from what ive read on here the distributor is something you dont want to mess with unless its broken. Ben
  21. I dont remember when the time was that us iowans or midwest people gathered but we have a few new people join the board from iowa so i thought we could all let them know (includeing myself) in when we were all gonna meet up. Ben
  22. First of all Connie (Relaxxxx) I know the agony of the anticipation of getting a new car. Especally something you cant really see and evaluate for yourslef. Everythings going to be fine. I know you said you were doing a restoration piece on this one but what about some 15 pugs. Make that baby a canyon carver. Would look nice tucked in those fenders. Just something for you to toss around while your replaceing your ageing suspension parts. Ben
