  1. I guess try mwe axels. Those are the closest to factory direct rebuild specs and if you blow one of those then youve got other front end problems Ben
  2. (Keep in mind that i have no experience with EJ motors) For me it seems like people go for the ej swap becaue its a better motor to start out with. Better hp rateing and better aftermarket following. People are telling you that you would be better off and money ahead if you just ej swap. I have an ea motor in my wagon and for what i use it for its perfect. Leaks oil, less hp then a sewing maching but for daily comuter its fine. If you want performance an ej is just the way to go. Ive heard way to many horror stories about headgaskets in the ea turbo. The swap seems fairly straightforward for a novice but someone who isnt used to it it can be a challange. Its all in what you are willing to do. Im positive you can pick up a legacy with a ej motor in it for 800 or less even with all the computer mumbo jumbo. And if you want an automatic transmission the ejs come with the 4 speed auto. Its just win win. I was told this buy someone once. If you want it to run and get you to a to b dont mess with it. If you want to have speed, torgue, then your going to have problems. Depending on what you want to do but my ea motor is left stock and works just fine with 200thou on the clock. Ben
  3. Well i was more going for sound deadening then rust proofing on the inside. I agree that it would be most usefull on the outside butt again im not going to pay for someone to do that on this car for the outside. If i had to do it can buy can that would be terribly expensive. I do have light surface rust on some parts to the underside of my car. I couldnt just spray that ruberized compound over it or roll it over the rust i would half to clean it first correct. Ben
  4. I was going for more like sound deadening - rustproofing. Ben
  5. Just curious if anyone has rhinolined or put any type of rust enhibator and sound deadner down on the floors of there cars and covered it back up with the carpet. Right now i dont have any floor or wheel well rust and i would like to keep that way. As long as it isnt to expensive id be willing to tear out the seats, carpet and plastic interior to do this. On top of that maybe make it alittle quieter for roadnoise on the road. what do ya think. Ben
  6. you might be able to get the help of a local wrecking or scrap yard. Tell them what youve got and say for the info you want to keep certain subies and they might have a wrecker come out to help you haul everything out. Ben
  7. just curious as to how much it costs to ship a car across the country. Would maybe be cheeper to do it yourself but i doubt it. Ben
  8. Didnt think it was off topic because it was subaru related:) Ben
  9. eureka xt springs on 4wd wagon struts will lower it 1 inch is this what im hearing. Ben
  10. People with more experience can elaborate more on them but there problem is with cooling issues and tend to blow headgaskets if not babied. If you go into the search portion of the message board you will be flooded with headgasket questions and problems on turbo models. Ben
  11. Let me start buy saying i love my loyale. Its quirks are why i hate it and love it at the same time. In the same breath for my wife i would not let her drive this car. Its to quirky for someone like her to handle. If i were you i would shop for a legacy. You can probally score one for around the same pricerange. Nicer to drive and quieter. Still somewhat quirky but they give you 4 gears instead of 3 for an automatic. most of them are awd which is nice in the winter. From what ive seen on here 1500 is a bit much for a non desirable loyale. Maybe if it was a pristine turbo, or something like that. But an automatic 4wd wagon are a dime a dozen. Just my 2c Ben
  12. i know man but shipping just kills it for me. So darn expensive. does cutting one rung off a spring really disimprove the handling on one of these wagons any worse then what they already are. ben
  13. Theres got to be more then just a handfull of problematic subarus. Ben
  14. Ive Got It front xt 2wd front struts lower 1 to 2 inches of drop (can you retain xt spring) Rear Flip upper mounting bracket and cut one coil off of spring for 1 to 2 inches of drop xt6 20mm sway bars makeing a slightly lower and better handling suby How about that. Ben
  15. if you flip the top mount (sorry for hyjacking the thred) you need to remove the compression from the spring i assume in order to do this. Then it lowers bout an inch. Ben p.s. xt6 sway bar upgrades are bolt on for an 88 wagon 4wd
  16. ruh roah so ur saying that rx springs can lower a wagon or that its not a good idea to lower it this way. Ben
  17. I thought i had problems. Its not really the length of your list its the contents. Honestly if i had a car with that many problems i wouldnt own it long, especially if it was my daily driver. Ben
  18. Just put on xt front struts and your good to go. Lowers about 2 inches i hear.
  19. List all the things that are wrong with your car. Rules. It can only be one car that you have. It needs to be in running and driveing condition. Heres Mine 1988 Subaru Dl Wagon Leaks Power Steering fluid. Leaks Oil. 4wd Doesnt work. Heater controls dont always switch over Need to turn off to shift into reverse. Need superman power to shift through gears Radio cuts out Brakes squeel Ac Doesnt Work Needs Ball Joints Needs Muffler Power Steering No longer works. 20. I really like this point of view. Imagina takeing your xt6-coupe to the dragon. Now that would be something interestintg. Ben
  21. It all depends i guess. Nothing is impossible to fix but i guess whats it worth to you. The car isnt your daily driver so at least thats not a problem. Just remember also that with new cars you may get new problems. I dont know how much time persay you have in rocky, but i know you have lots of parts. Some would cut and run take the parts and try another car. Some would keep rocky and just work on it from time to time. What do you want to do. If your like me you want everything to be just right but you may or may not have the time, money, or ability to achieve what you would like. I guess if it were me i would keep it i mean its not loosing anything sitting there and youve got something fun to tinker with. Ben
  22. HI there. I have an 88 would it be possible to take out the foam insert to make the bumpers alittle more flush. Ben
  23. I had an 1989 crown victoria that after you filled it with gas it wouldnt start. You would half to jump it off the starter solenoid. Funny thing is i sold it to some people who turned around a couple days latter and robbed a gas station, after filling the car with gas lol. Needless to say thats now the police nabbed them. Couldnt start the getaway car. Ben
  24. I have a surefire method to keep your stuff from getting stolen. I used to think that no one would ransack my car because it didnt look like much so i never locked it. They rifled through my car and just took my cheepo sunglasses. Eversince then i dont keep anything in my car. When i had a cd player i would take the faceplate and all the cds in with me. Since they stole my sunglasses i take everything in the house with me. I even leave the doors unlocked so they dont break windows or locks to find nothing. I find this the best and surefire method for keeping your stuff and keeping your car from getting smashed up. Thell rifle through it find nothing then move on. Ben
  25. Dont know if anyones seen this before but i thought it was pretty funny. The subaru wasnt too bad off but wait for the 2nd car. Ben
