Ok so for the life of me ive posted about how its hard to put my car into gear but not sometimes it works fine. And on top of that i have the unability to put my car into reverse while its on. I try to and it just grinds but when i turn it off and put it into reverse its fine. Puzzled I am. Though my mother in law mad a funny comment today. Most of you know my minivan had wrecked so that left me with just this. She had let her 1999 tahoe sit in the garage for a week and went to start it today to find the batter dead. She looks at my car and says if weve got to start relying on that thing to get us around were in a world of trouble. I just laughed. Ben

all the questions you can answer
The Dude Abides replied to brokebill's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ok how do your belts not get dirty if there in the front of the engine and t here exposed. Seems to me that iff they were uncovered and just driveing in the rain would kickup water and road grime up into them. But then again im a noob and i dont quite know where they are. Ben -
Painting your Old Mess
The Dude Abides replied to hardtail_pride's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
http://rollyourcar.com/default.aspx Try this websight, from the same people on the dodge forum. The problem with his paintjob is that he couldnt get it to shine quite as brightly as the regular painting process, but at the websight ive provided they show a slightly more expensive method but youve got more color options and higher shine rate. Though he said his rustoleum paint hasnt chiped in 3 years. Just my 2c Ben -
lol i apreciate it guys but i thought someone told me that it was easier just to swap rear wagon tail gates then to switch out the motor. Ill just half to dig into it this summer im sure ive got vacume lines to check. Hopefully mcbrat can help me give my car a good onceover so i know what it needs to survive. Ben

I tried something yesterday and it worked thought i would share. As many of you may or may not know my wife is in the hospital and has been for a while. On top of that superbowl sunday i wreck the minivan that hauls my kids. So i was able to fit all carseats into my wagon and have been useing that. A couple days ago while driveing it my break fluid light came on and the peddel got really hard and it was hard to stop. I toped off the fluid which wasnt low and carried on. When i got to the hospital the fluid light came on so i had this to say. I know your old and i know your sick but you cant do this right now. I promise that this summer when there is more time and money i will give you the parts you need but now you cant do this. Breaking down is not an option so youve got to suck it up and keep on chuggin because i dont have time for your crap right now. Thank you for your service but i need you now more then ever. I have a long list of things for you but not when its -23 degrees outside. Please just keep it together until theres more time. Since then it has been running better then its ever been. Just tought id share. Ben

no heater controls work fine. Its weird because i can almost feel it engage like when you put something in 4wd and u feel a slight loss in power becaue its being transfered to the rear but i still get nothing. Alls i know is last night when i engaged it only the front tires were spinning. Its strange. Ben -

Na i like my dl setup that way i dont half to mess with the plastic on the gl setups. Yea mick i saw that im interested in body parts maybe some interior parts possibly the dual range but if u wanted to pick it up you could keep at my place till u had time to pull the stuff, from what is says it runs and drives. Ben I might be able to go in halvies on it with you but not till i get taxes back -

Its that time of year again...
The Dude Abides replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yea i stated earler that when i got stuck in the snow and i needed my 4wd it didnt work. But i did find out that you can fit 3 carseats in teh back of a station wagon. Its tight but cozy. Ben -
I might have someone willing to give me an 88 hatch back ea82 my question is this. People on here have said that the corner lights from a gl will not transfer onto a dl but when i look at pictures the fenders look the same. Are the fenders interchangeable from a dl to a gl or from a sedan to a couple or wagon. Did subaru make these cars interchangeable. Also this hatchback has rear disc brakes are those interchangeable with my 88 4wd wagon. The car does ahve 4wd as well. Ben

I should cut it some slack its former owner was my brother and he would of rather drive it and run it into the ground then take care of it. I was just bashing the push button 4wd the car itself runs fairly well. With my wife being in the hospital and haveing 3 kids i havent had much tiime to chase down the 4wd issue but thats something i will do this summer along with many many other things. Ben p.s. it is manual transmission -
Well i was loadin up the kiddies in the parking lot which hasnt been completely plowed was sitting in some snow bout 9 inches. When i go to leave i get hung up in snow ruts. I was mad i thought these cars were gonna be tough so i push the 4wd in. Nada it doesnt engege wonderful japanease engineereing so im sittin here going this sucks subarus dont get stuck what a crock. But then i was like its a subaru try again. I was able to rock it back and forth and i got out eventually but man it wasnt that much snow and the tires are almost brand new. I assume if my 4wd button was working things would of gone different but was not my best getting stuck moment but then again it wasnt my worst. Is there something i can replace that push button with like a hand activated leaver. Ben
