Just curious. As you know my wife was on bedrest so that left me with driveing the family grocery getter. Now that she has had the babies i will be driveing my subaru again. I havent driven it in about a month or better. What are some things i may need to check on. It leaks oil so i will be checking that but it is in dire need of an oil change as well. Ben

If your talking about the mountain grizley that used to be owned buy mcbrat. Did you tell him that you lived in a state that had emissions checks because he might of warned you of the problems u might have getting it to pass. As far as i knew the car ran great but was more designed for non road emissions things. But you might talk to him see what he can help you with Ben -

coilover springs ok but how will that work with a longer shock. if you tighten it down to much your going to loose decent comfortable driveability. -

but that involves also buying all the 5 lug swap stuff and 5 lug wheels and tires. for those who have not as much money but would still like something nice. ive heard miata shocks ive heart accord springs. equal lowering on all 4 corners 1 inch up front 1 1/2 or so in rear. ill buy new shocks i just dont know what springs to put on. if u use miata struts can u use the springs. There are only 3 types of cv shafts you use to replace your broken ones gck - fully rebuilt to even higher oem specs better then new mwe - fully rebuilt to factory specs better then new oem subaru - factory specs brand new ask anyone in here. the part store brand name shafts arent worth anything. Youll just end up replaceing them again in the long run. I mean in the short run because thell start clicking soon after you replace them. Ben

y do i have a feeling that thats what most people on this boards yards look like. Yard full of running subarus and of ones that are parts cars or projects with grass cut around them:lol: Ben

get your tire replaced but have the shop double check for the wheel to be bent. drive your vehicle make sure it doesnt pull to hard to any side. If that did you probally threw it out of alighment. Try to observe any squeeking or leaning. You really cant diagnose something unless 1 you get under it or 2 you drive it. Just get in and driveit around your block to start. Take it easy for a little bit and then if everything seems ok then just drive it like normal. But Id think more than likely you might of thrown it out of alignment. Ben

i have the same roof boom noise (also the clicking but thats another more expensive issue.) The roof boom is a support gone loose. They are glued on and most likely have come unglued over time. Its only an inconvience. IF you look up in search it should show how to fix it but it involves removing the headliner and positioning and glueing it back into place. Ben

i wish i had the spare bucks for my wagon. I could use one for each side. There both clicking. Hopefully they still have this deal in a couple months. Ben

this might sound like a dumb question but is half shaft the whole shaft. Im not totally dense i realize that there are 2 sides but i guess i was under the impression that half shaft was only the outer half that connects to the wheel hub. Ben

I think your going to find that most people are going to tell you to do an entire motor swap. Like (and correct me if im wrong) ej22 out of a legacy. They have more power although the benefits of fuelinjection are great for going up inclines probally stink for mudbogging. But other people will chime in. Welcome. Check out some of the other areas there having a meet and greet i believe this weekend in your neck of the woods. Under trails Ben

Wheel Bearing Estimate- thoughts?
The Dude Abides replied to joylars's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Howdy fellow iowan. All we need is a few hundred more suby enthuasists and we can have our own little world like washington and oreagon. Since you are from iowa and i saw desmoines like me. I assume you went to ramsey. Do Not Go to ramsey. Its the kinda dealership that sticks it to ya real good with a smile on their face. There are lots of other places that would work on a subaru. But if your at all mechanically inclined i would do it yourself youll save some bucks. Some of the smaller garages are good. Drake garage is good. There are others. I cant think of there name off the top of my head though. Ben
