Can a 3-spd Loyale wagon really do 130mph?
The Dude Abides replied to TheLoyale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i got mine up to 75 today and it felt like i was suddenly hydroplaneing. I didnt loose control but it felt very loose, kinda free flowing. Also whats up with the 3 speed. Y only a 3 speed auto and a 5 speed manual. Seems kinda silly to me. Ben -

Ive got the greatest idea. come to iowa we have a jeep superstore you can get many many jeeps any kind you want. for a great one 3000 bucks but for ok one 1500 bucks. and then you can give me your subaru. Makes sence to me. Give a poor man another car incase his subaru breaks down. Just a though Ben

Im thinking about putting together a ultimate subaru groupe together for a parade. We have a couple of good parades around here. One is for the 4th of july the other is for the iowa state fair. If enough people are interested and would like to participate i will get all information together. Could have a meet and greet do some swap talk whatever. These parades are a year away but you can never have enough planing. All subarus are welcome who are attached to the board. wagons, hatches, brats, xts, wrxs, imprenas, sedans, whatever. Anyone willing to come down and spend a couple days in dull desmoines iowa is welcome to it. Ben P.s. Higly modified vehicles are not necessary.

Iowa: 9th Annual Timber Ridge Trail Ride Sept. 21-23, 2007

yea mick i think were going in different directions here. You want to take yours up. I want to take mine down a tad. Ben -
i can understand why you want the cherokee for better towing but y trade in your subaru. Shirley there not going to give you much for it. And i also disagree that the cherokee isnt reliable. I know many 80s and early 90s that have over 200 thousand miles on them. One of the great engines jeep really screwed up when they dumped the inline 6. Didnt the cherokee have solid front and rear axels up until they discontinued it. Ben

DROOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL I am still on the debate from 16s or 17s. For me the 17s look to big. Ive always kind of gone with the rule of thumb. No bigger then 2 or 3 sizes from what it came from the factory. But thats just my opinion. Ben -

Someone Looking For me. U know it just so happens that im in the same neck of the woods as McBrat. And this is something i would love to go to. Eventhough i dont think my wagon is at all possible to do any type of serious offroading. Buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. Its looking like its in late september. I have mentioned it a couple times but my wife is pregnant with twins. And thats right around the time that there due. Things might change. If she goes early it will be impossible for me to get even any free time off. If she goes late it might me to possibly stop buy but u know chicks and being pregnant man. Where is it located at. too bad your to far away. I have a spare set of jackstands. You can do work under your car without jackstands doesnt make it safe. I quote chris rock. You can drive a car with your feet that dont make a good blankin idea. I would replace the whole axel also. Im going to be atempting this in a few weeks myself. But i have access to the gck axels here in iowa. Ben -

well i dont know about all of that. I had a 88volvo turbo station wagon once. The shop i bought it off of said if there was any problems bring it back. 2 days latter i broght it back and said hey the air doesnt work what can ya do. All the guy did was bust out a can of r-12 screw it onto the cap and let it run. Had me turn on the air until it blew cold. After that i had air conditioning. Now that i think about it that was a pretty awsome car. Power everything moon roof alloy wheels only paid like 300 bucks for it. Had electrical problems from hell though. was fun in the winter Ben -
If you wanted to go super sick and twisted. Put the grill where the engine was. That way you wouldnt need to chop off the roof. When you cooked you could just lift the hood. Then convert the entire rest into your camper. Shirly witht he lack of engine and tranny and interior you would be much lighter then factory soob thus able to tow it. You wont need to worry about cumbersome welding and covering up holes you cut. On top of that youve got a tricked out soob. With all the interior removed you wouldnt have any problem fitting any height of persons in the car. but then again thats just my 2cents Ben

I like your idea to make the back of one into a grill. Gass would be a noo clean up mess. I mean i like chardoal to but gas is way easier. The Camper i would think is a bad idea. Im 5,7 and i laid down the backseat in my car. I barely fit and im on the shorter side of life. I could think that you would want something alittle more comfortable. I mean you could still camp out in the back of your running wagon while towing your grill

Give subaru one more try?
The Dude Abides replied to Uberoo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I was told not to get an ea81 because the wires become old and brittle over time. And there a pain in butt to fix. Lots of people have ea82s here and dont have head gasket problems unless there a turbo. Look under for sale for mountain griz might be what ur lookin for. ben -
I was digging through my car on my lunchbreak when i happened to come across every piece of info on my car. Where it was purchased, who purchased it. All service records. All the little subaru doodads and paperwork Aparently it was a california car, then a montana car and now its an iowa car. Aparently im the 3rd owner. Ben
