  1. Did some work on the subaru today. Fixed some broken vacuum lines and put on my new used iac valve and other one ? I also reattached the power cord for the cb. I despirately need to clean it out. Any advice on cleaning out alot of gravel dust from an interior. I would think that water and other stuff would make a bigger mess.
  2. Is it just me or does the forrester seem top heavy also. Dont know there roll over rate but i would try to convince her to get a legacy.
  3. As far as i know they didnt start putting emission stuff on until 74. I know this because i had a 73 monte once and it had no smog equipment.
  4. Ok well replaceing the bad parts for good ones. Its not restoration but your makeing it look better. And a slide in camper is a very very good idea.
  5. Your pretty much going to end up restoring that thing now arent you. And you wanted to sell it. Now you just need a narley set of chrome bed bars.
  6. Anyway i tried to fix mine today but ended up breaking it. Nothing a quick trip to the parts store didnt fix but i ran out of time to fix it. Now it sits, torn apart in the parking lot not going anywhere for a while.
  7. They made manual cherokees until the very end and as far as i can remember up until 2001 or so they still had the vacume actuated shift on the fly 4wd. They didnt go full push button until the mid 00s. Or so i remember.
  8. I would tend to disagree with you only if you can find a standard transmission. We know the 3.0 chrysler engine was garbage ok. The 3.8s have also had HG problems as well. But i know the inline 6 4.0 and the 3.3 like in my van are very good engines with a long history of reliability. Is it a chevy 350, no but you get my point. When i bought my 05 caravan i was like why am i buying this thing. I know the transmission is garbage. But at that point my wife wanted that one and she wouldnt drive a astro van. Ill pay for it eventually but i guess if your going chrysler stick with a standard transmission.
  9. Dodge buy habbit makes bad trannys. Most of the dodges i find in the junkyard are there because of the trannys. the 4.0 inline 6 is a great motor but the auto trannys seem to be the weakest link. If you get a 5 speed no worries.
  10. Hgs on the motors but there real easy to replace. The auto trannys kinda suck. If shes lookin jeep she should look manual. I also know they have a pretty good rollover rate when getting radical. But there pretty safe.
  11. 1987 has the fuel injection and the overdrive transmission. But with the 454 it will get not good gas miles. But its also old, easy to work on. Rust free texas truck with mint interior and exterior.
  12. Im thinking that with my new found passion for motorcycles and my need for a truck in a year when i find my 1st home. Also due to the fact that im going to trailer guido when i travel far away to go wheelin its time to find a good truck / tow rig. So then i find this. WOW. http://desmoines.craigslist.org/ctd/1860766087.html
  13. It was soggy out there thats for sure. Got a sweet set of cerwin vega speakers for next to nothing and mick got his escort gt seats. I had to convince him to buy the passenger side one so he had a matching set. Yea definately invest in some water boots next time. My feet were hot. Had a awd legacy there with the 2.2 only 160k on the clock. Also saw a 92 loyale 5 speed with no rust from oreagon. Might snag the fenders if im feelin froggy. Some light wheelin just happened upon us. 3 known lifted wagons in the whole state.
  14. Whoever reads this thread. Guys that was truly the most amazing thing. A thunderstorm roughly the size of the city moved into the desmoines and its suburbs and parked for almost 4 hours dumping pouring rain over and over and over again. I have a feeling that the junkyard which usually after a typical shower gets soggy will be truly a sight to be seen. I will be bringin my camera to take pictures.
  15. You might want to slow down in the construction zone man.
  16. I wouldnt mind a black or a dark blue one. Yea i like white but they get dirty quickly.
  17. I happen to have some spare time this weekend and i could always use a trip to the junkyard to clear my mind. I might not get anything subaru but id lend ya a hand if you needed it. I do have some rubber boots now so i can keep my feet dry. And yes it will be flooded. Let me know if there are some tools you want me to bring. I can bring guido but unless theres a dual range or a lsd in the lot not much i need really. Unless theres a green ford taurus bumper. P.s. Does it need to be that early in the morning. Cant you wait till say 9
  18. If your from new mexico chances are its rust free. We like to see pictures of rust free brats.
  19. You know im not saying it would be impossible for some iowa guys to come up for a bbq in say wisconson if someon wisconson folks were willing to throw one. Im just sayin.
  20. The perfect example of why to do it now. Since youve got the trashwagon now you can have time to let it be down. Hell you should ej it while your at it. Go all out. Then you can be all prepaired wcss next year and ill caravan with ya.
  21. Yea, i think i just need to go wheelin again. I had fun and would like to do it some more. But i dont have alot of bucks or time to drive out of town and wheel then camp then drive it home. How much is castina mick.
