  1. So, i have been on the board for a while. I have had many adventures with my subaru. But i feel its personal attachment to me over the years has made me switch gears. It has been my daily driver, my offroad toy, and now backup vehicle. I have come to a crossroads after the last offroading adventure. Not out of any disrespect from the jeep guys but my vehicle will not keep up with them. And insidently i beat the hell out of it trying to. The car means to much to me to do this, not that i dont want to offroad anymore but not with this. So i have starting removing the lift and the offroad tires. All that being said, quietly over the past 5 years i have been plotting and hatching a plan on where i wanted this car to go. Now before i tell you my plan i love my car, i love it. I love subarus and i can without a shadow of a doubt tell you that i feel these and the earlier ones before them are one of the greatest vehicles every made. I personally feel these are the true essence of subaru. I like the imprezas and the legacys but these cars were designed to be good in all weather and be fuel efficent. My mind will never be changed on that thinking. And i would hate to ruin what was in my opinion a great design of a great car. But im going to. With all due respect to the fellows before me who have put wrx, sti, svx, and other engine and trans configurations into these cars im coming up with a whole new plan. The V8 swap has been discuss around here from time to time but i dont think anyone was either crazy enough, or capable enough, or rich enough to move forward with this. So my plan is to strip the car of what i dont need and can sell for extra money. I have my ls engine and t5 already sourced but i may hold off on purchaseing because i want to get the suspension grafted onto the car. With the research ive done on track width i can use either mustang or camaro parts. Im torn between a solid axle rear end or independent for what im wanting to do with the car. I fully expect the car to have 400hp to the wheels when im done. I may also look into mustang 2 front end components but my plan is to purchase a whole car to source most of my parts on. This is not a joke or an attention seeking plan of action. Its going to take me a few years and lord knows ill probably change my mind of which engine or rear end i want to get in there. I love my car and want to take it to the next level. I now start my adventure and im shareing it with all of you. A journey of 1000 miles begin with a single step.
  2. Ive decided to part mine out partly. I have some pugs and a rear disc brake swap in the for sale section.
  3. this thread is turning into a dumpster fire, what a joke. Cant even post a video.
  4. Im really sorry everyone, i thought the video posted. Ill give it a try again.
  5. this is me my wagon in the Iowa Jeep show did pretty good https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hvideo-xap1/v/t43.1792-2/1246041_10203911830663571_1725658066_n.mp4?oh=04a7eefe97e96426b73319268e398c29&oe=5438B9C7
  6. Its sad when someone comes over and fixes the problem you were having in 15 minutes. After i posted this and did some thinking. I cleaned up the cv shaft with an scotch brite pad.and then removed both seals from the hub. Then a friend came over and after i explained what i wanted to do he made it look simple. He installed the inner seal onto the ring first then put the inner bearing into the hub and put the ring on. After that he slid the hub onto the axle and got it almost half way on. Then he put on the outer bearing and took the brake hub and used the nut to push the hub the rest of the way onto the cv shaft. All in all it only took a few minutes. Now the hub is back on the car and waiting for me to finish installing the rest of the stuff. What a pain in the rump roast this was.
  7. Ok so after alittle looking i realized i destroyed the inner seal. Question, does the inner seal need to be put on after i screw the nut or can i do it before hand. And does the outer seal need to be flush with the outer bearing because it moves around alot.
  8. Ok so now i ask the group, is there a way for me to get this back on. Any special tools because it wont slide back on now.
  9. Jesus man, my car doesnt even have that much belly rust. Where did you get the wheel arches and other body parts.
  10. Im in the process of getting the old bearings out of the hub. What a freaking job this is turning out to be.
  11. Anyone know the wheel track and length for a subaru loyale wagon.
  12. On a side note, the cv stub isnt stuck in the hub. It moves a quarter of an inch in and out. It is hitting something preventing it from moving. That is why iasked if there was another clip or bolt i was missing.
  13. Thank you all for your help. I am frustrated which i believe you are getting, but im a nice guy normally this has just gotten the worst of me. Im getting a 3jaw puller this afternoon to give it a try. I suppose a bearing could of let go and wedged itself inside the stub somehow. Either way im trying the puller and going from there. I did try to losen up the cv shaft before taking the arm off but it didnt work so i thought maybe i could give it alittle more mite after i got it off the arm. But the axle isnt coming off and neither is the stub shaft so lol i need to keep figureing it out. Worst case senerio i put it back together and take the whole dam car to the shop. I am going to try the 3 jaw puller and then probably a pickel fork before i put it back together.
  14. I dont want to be rude but please everyone check out the link i put in the above post and see where the stub shaft goes out of the cup. And i understand that was one mans prespective on removing it but i dont see how taking off the stub shaft is going to make this any easier.
  15. Woah, i didnt know that come appart. Should i put the pin back in because i didnt want to take it apart like that. The write up i read didnt have that stub being separated from the cv shaft the hub was pulled through the stub shaft and the pin was never removed. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/107722-pictorial-wheel-bearing-guide-4wd-rear/
  16. Maybe its the frustration but i have no idea what you guys are saying. The axel that should slide out of the hub isnt. It doesnt feel like rust it feels like something is holding it back or blocking it. Im pretty fed up, i couldnt even remove the dam cv shaft from the rear pumpkin. Took me 20 minutes to pount out the pin and i couldnt get that to separate from the rear diff.
  17. So im elbows deep into my wheel bearing replacement and its been smooth sailing until now. I cant get the cv shaft off of the trailing arm. I cant figure out what im doing wrong. The roll pin has been removed, there are no bolts i can see. Infact the trailing arm is hanging off the car. There is alittle play i can see where it will slide alittle back and forth. Am i missing anything, there has got to be a a lock ring or a bolt or a pin i missed but the trailing arm is hanging off the car, there should be nothing holding this back anymore. Any advice would be great.
  18. So little known to most of you still on here my wheel bearings have been bad for about 5 years now and i finally have my garage to do them in. If course rust stops me dead in my tracks once again. Hopefully PB blaster will clear it up.
