Dont know how great this is going to work but a co worker of mine decided to include me in his little plan. He wants to restore classic motorcycles. Im all for this cuz im a bike nut. My first project hes giving me. 1978 Yamaha sr500. Pictures soon to come but well see how this goes along. I havent seen it yet so i dont know how bad off it is. He really likes the sr500s but i told him to look at the classic hondas and triumphs also.

Mine would break

I guess that would be ok, chris is the guy who did your brat right. Im pretty sure i can trust his welding abilities. But this is different, at least you told me there are specific things you weld. Also i would need to figure out how to remove a rear axel all the time. But then again i hardly drive the car anymore.

With an auto and drive pavement not likely. Add some rain, maybe some snow latter on and there you go.

Would of been fine for me but you and him would of been screwed. So Tom, you takin the loyale or the legacy. You know my vote. Also how about a role call on whose going now or not. I know some nebraska folks and wiscon folks talked about going but talk is cheep. Only 2 sights are reserved, time to put your money where your mouth is boys. Me and my brother.

Like i said buddy, nice DD. Fix the quarter, rear bumper and hatch. Then drive the hell out of them.

Oh hey wait a minute, isnt that mountain grizzley the famous subaru. I had no idea you had that. Looks good and im glad you got it going good. I kinda liked the old front bumper myself but to each his own. Would look nice on mine but i would need a custom welder to attach it. Hey mick, youve got a welder. Buy the way if no one knows about this car i think hes sold it and got it back like 4 times now. I did happen to get mt grizzs sweet old mud tires for guido though. I think you should have one more inch up front it looks way raked for some reason. I havent touched my subaru in a while, better give him some love. -
Ok with the exception of some things duck tape does not fix everything. You would of been miles ahead with a seat cover.
-
I would agree with beast. If its just a commuter - snow wagon i would think the lsd would be great. But any extreme wheelin and i would go for the welded. As far as tires the only thing i would say is that if they looked really small under that huge lift it would be a turnoff for me.
-
If you were worried about simplicity for your wifes car you should just go LSD. Granted not as good as welded but you dont half to worry about your wife blowing axels all the time. And if you have gas mpg in mind keep it under 28 inches on the tires. I dont think youll need more then this. You have got the right idea about the engine. I have 27s on my subaru and the stock ea82 fi doesnt like the added weight. It really only likes me in the car. Legacy motor is the way to go. +1 on the legacy seats, looking forward to that write up.

Nice, you need to buy that place to have our own subaru heavin. That way guido can be with friends.
-
I can also bring these if anyone wants to buy them for there daily driver. Worked pretty hard stripping them down and painting them black. Tires are great as well with tons of tread. 100 bucks and a set of old wheels and tires so when guido goes to heavin i have some old crappy rubber to send him off in.

a legacy with an outback paint scheme. Now ive seen it all.

HiPo EA81 build questions....domed pistons?
The Dude Abides replied to hatchsub's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
So then i ask this. ea82 with delta torque cam or ea81 with the setup that mcbrat and hatchsub are going for. I wont ask which is better but which has more hp and torque. -
See when you talk final crawl you kinda lose me which means maybe i shouldnt put in input. I understand what your saying but you can go almost anywhere with this. And whose to say it can be done. As far as i know the only dual range transmissions were in the 79-89 subarus so you would need to stick with that. Now if you are able to split the case and change gearing inside i wouldnt even begin to know how to attempt that or if its been done. If you wanted a subaru only dedicated offroader then you want the dual range. Ok i told you what i wanted but ill try to think where your going. ea82 rx body choped to just the structure then chop the a** off. Fuel Cell Internal Cage and exoskelitan for added safety and ridgity. Still say Svx Motor with rear cargo rack for weight distribution. I dont know if the flex your looking for is acheveable with factory subaru things. CVs arent ment to flex extremem amounts so i guess heres where im stumped. Because i cant wrap around useing legacy or wrx or forester parts on the ea82 dual range case because i thought those didnt interchange.

I dont want to do this but for the sake of knowledge i will ask. Do you guys go for this type of setup so you dont half to mess with the electronics of a ej22. Or possibly to keep the originality of the motor. Because other then those 2 things i cant see why you would work so hard to acheve 100 or so hp when you go ej and get 120 or so with loads more torque. Or do i not know the ultimate advantages of going this route. Because i happen to know of a ea81 and a ej22 in a junkyard. Just asking, dont flame me.
