3 years agoi did the power steering pump on a 92 dodge caravan. My tools have never been the same since. I was wondering what you guys use to clean up your tools after useing them. Soak them in gas, just wipe them off. Whatever, im curious. I got some new tools for x mas but its time to clean up the ones i have and organize my toolbox tools and my junkyard -portable fix cars tool blx.

Yea interested in the no start issue. Heres the problem, my brother being the way he is isnt interested in dumping huge amounts into the car if its going to be problematic. Ive never know a coil to do things like this soo its kinda like where do we go from here. Again car shuts off and will just turn over and over for like 5 minutes until voala it starts and runs fine again. Oh and are NGK wires the same as oem wires. As far as plugs go, id go with ngk but i didnt know if i needed to go platnum, or v grove, or any of those other kooky types.

Ok so people keep telling me that the newer legacys arent very good and that 90-94 are the best years. So my question is it that the new legacys all had HG problems or only the 2.5 versions. Some newer legacysl 95-99 had 2.2s and i was wondering if these engines were ok. I think there about 30 les hp then the 2.5 versions but i was wondering what you guys thought. Im thinking about saveing up for a legacy:rolleyes: and need to knwo the best verson to get. The older ones 90-94 dont seem to be to visually appealing but are iron tough. The newer ones 95-99 have a better look but i hear people question there relibility.

And you my friend would definately know.

Ok, stalled out again on him. Problem is that it just stalls out with no warning then 5 to 10 minutes latter it starts back up. I checked the coil it seems fine. Its starts up again so everything seems normal. There was an alternator recall that said it shut off after a while, could it be that. Im kinda lost on ideas here guys.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+G+019+Grid these are the tires brent. Drove them around today and got decent traction. I think with a tire this size though you are still better off with a dedicated snow tire. Where is the coil pack and how do i check the grounds. And it does ahve a keyless entry system but he got no keyfobs when he bought the car.

Ok so it stalled out on him again today. I drove out to meet him and after 10 minutes it started up and drove fine. While the car was running i removed the plug wires from the ignition coil and it seems like two of the ports arent putting out as much spark as the other 2. The spark plugs themselves seemed to be working ok but they were dirty. It doesnt explain how one minute it could be running fine then the next it just shutts off. No stumble, no stalling just bam nothing for 5 minutes. Buy the way, i drove the hell out of this thing trying to get it to immitate the problem. With the new tires on it its a friggin go kart man. Might need to look into one of these.

Thanks my friend. Buy the way, this wasnt a bash subaru and go to the old american standbuy thread. I was just frustrated because so much to do and it keeps mounting up. And i happened to see a 88 caprice in my price range. Thats all, if i found anything decent shape i would consider it. And brent, i dont know what it is you do or say but you p*** people off very easly on here. Ive meet you many times and your a fun guy. Thanks for all the advice guys. -

And your right hatchsub i would be getting someone elses 500 dollar problems. But i dont have money to fix the stuff thats wrong now, let alone find another engine. And that caprice wasnt in that bad of shape but me pumping up a chevy on a subaru sight really isnt cool so............... It was a total piece of garbage man. I was doin donughts around it, (actually i was). Just venting, it still gets me from a to b for right now. Wish i had the money and seemingly time to fix what it needed done. Oh well. -

And the 2nd thing is that i dont think i can get much out of this. So im pretty limited on what i can buy for around 500 bucks. -

Thats the other thing, i would ej it but then youve got the engine and the electricals to mess with. Its not the engine thats the biggest pain in the butt its the fact that it needs more work. If i had money i would just buy something else and keep this on the backburner fixing stuff as i go. But the problems keep mounting on this thing and as soon as i fix something 1 or 2 more problems get worse. I duno, i like gm products and i know caprices are rock solid for the most part. I cant afford to have my vehicle down and i can barely afford to fix it. These are the problems i face. -
Kinda overwhelmed with work here. Heater and cooling system need taken care of. Rear wheel bearing is being a pain in the butt. Header pipe is way loose of the head now and is louder then a raccoon getting attacked buy mountain lion. It backfires because of this. Tensioners are going bad, driverside front cv shaft is clicking like mad. Throttle sticks when its super cold out, doesnt idle high at all and cant fix the cold stalling. Its just being a pain in the butt right now. I passed a 88 caprice classic today. Just got me thinking about how much easier it might be to just get something different. 20 years old and 200k miles. This thing aint no spring chicken anymore.
