The Dude Abides replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
When i get a second ill take a picture. Its almost like the pad is to thick and the trim piece doesnt sit far back enough into the doorpanel. -

Different Door Panels

Its for the EA82 I know how they fit but they dont sink in very far. The clip into place but they dont go in very far. I cant unlock and lock the door because it sits in further then the trip piece. -

Again connie i agree with the consticuants (spelling). LiL blue is a fine rust free vehicle. There are things that i would do different like make it awd with a legacy motor but thats me. You are you and you should do whatever the hell you want to do with your car. The thing i hear lately is that its not worth it. Wont last forever. Thats fine and dandy but ill say when its done not anyone else. Dont give up, your almost there. -

Im in as long as its on a sunday, dont want to miss saturday football:grin: -
No i understand that, i guess my problem with the whole thing was. I dont half to pay that but he doesnt need to sell it for that much. Not my business, i agree. But whose going to pay that much for a vehicle you cant use. And that will most likely end up at the junkyard for the price im offering him right now. But beyond that deal, bheinen and i live in the same state. Just the prices for some of these vehicles are rediculious. But if its something you want and the guys not willing to budge for his (gem). Its frustrating. Especially when your not getting much for what you pay for.
-
Maybe folks from other states without rust problems dont understand. Why would i pay more then 500 bucks for a vehicle i can see the pavement through the floorboard. Why would i pay more then a couple hundred bucks for a car that has fire damage. If i go out to the westcoast ill gladly spend around 700 bucks for a decent rust free car. But here in our junkyards its not the engines that go on these. Its the rustedout subframes. Just buy the way i think about things i could get myself to sell my car for more then 700 bucks. Its not worth it even though ive got more into it then that. Its the principal of things.

Forget about the 450dollar subaru. LOOOOOOOOOOOK at the craigslist ads in the beginning of the thread. Rusted out cars going for a premium. That is what im talking about. And yea this subaru was rust free but it wasnt a gem buy any strech.

My money is worth more then yours because my lack there of. I dont have xtra money for 4 cars. I try to make due with what i have and get deals when i can. So when i see a shotty dealership who probally picked up this car for 50 bucks at an insurance wholesaler because THERE WAS A FIRE IN THE BACKSEAT. I tend to think that 450 is alittle high for a vehicle that has a inch of soot inside the car and 2inches of dust outside. I never ask for more then what something is worth. The whole point was to see what others are paying for end of life cars in your area. I still think these are to high. And if thats the case then im going to try and sell mine for 1500 and see where that gets me because mine is no more worse off then these are.
-
Just curious as to what prices your paying for some cars in your area. To be more specific, i think the whole iowa car market is way inflated. I offered the guy 1oo bucks for a 88dl 2wd wagon and he said no, he could get 250 at the scrap yard. I was like, no you couldnt my friend turned in an 88 caprice estate wagon the other day and only got 100 bucks for it. My point is lots of vehicles id be interested in buying are lots more then they are in other parts of the country. Here are some examples. http://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/1321576929.html http://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/1321386509.html http://desmoines.craigslist.org/ctd/1321040274.html I duno maybe im just being picky.

Even if it was alittle rusty underneath it would still make a decent driver. I agree i dont really want to dig into anything biger then i half to but 100 bucks isnt much for a low miles engine and nice clean straight rust free body parts.
