Ok so now i got my awsome disc brakes on but i have a problem. The rear center covers dont fit quite right. There about 1/4 of an inch off. So my question is how bad would it be on the rear assembly, wheels, brakes whatever if i threw 2 maybe 3 good sized washers on the lugnuts then put the wheel on. IM not going for huge offset here just want my centers to fit properly. If this is to hard on the car obviously i wont do it but ive seen hotrodders do it to certain cars. Not saying its smart just saying its been done before. Your thoughts.

Brake Bleed

Speaking of which sir is there anything left at your old homestead you still need to get. So i can return your socket to there instead of the boonedocks. -
Wow that must be way different then what we get in the states because as far as i know they ditched the 4wd high and low in the late 80s early 90s and just went with either front wheel drive or awd.

GL-10 Mystery Rattle
The Dude Abides replied to mentis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Tons of different reasons ofr possibly that. For your rattling ditch the midpipe and the cat unless you need it. If you need it then you know replace it. Im having the rattle and i cant determine if mines from the midpipe or the cat. Ben -
ill check it out. What fluid do i need and how to i refil the pumpkin

What electric fan setup is that off of.

cORREct me if im wrong but wont pulling the rear diff off alow what fluid is in there to fall out.

Ive been noticeing this noise when im driveing down the road. I thought it was the tires at first but when i put my pugs on the noise remained. When i had the car in the air today with both wheels off i spun them both thinking it might be a wheel bearing. Seems like the noise is comming from the rear diff. If these get low on fluid can they make noise like that, or if there exceptionally dirty. Any other ideas. Ben

I had the lower balljoints replaced last year and now i noticed the side that was bad before has really bad toe in. Now when i check out the lower balljoint again its torn. Is there some other suspension component i need to be looking at to tear through balljoints. Or could we of missinstalled it (though i have confidence it was). Just looking for any ideas as it pulls to the right just a tad to make it annoying. Of all my problems with the car this is the one i need to address last but i figured id give it a shot. Ben

Brake Bleed
The Dude Abides replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Wow who ever said the rear disc brake swap was easy. Actually it wasnt to bad but the brake lines from the calipers werent cooperating so they got replaced. Busted a bolt off the backing plate. Bleed them real good with the 2 man system. There wasnt to much air in the system but my friend commented on how much mud is in my brake system. I was like, its not suspost to be brown lol. All is good now. Definately needed new brakes. I was down to the metal on all 4 shoes for the rear brakes, i dont even think it was grabbing anymore. Ben -
If i replace it with just a straight pipe wont it be louder. Even a chery bomb muffler woudl be quieter then a straight piece of pipe i would think.

What about the resoner, its rattling and driveing me crazy.

Cash for clunkers. Im teasing, man take some time this weekend and get those vehicles running. Its always good to have backups.

what are some signs that your cat or midpipe might be clogged, and what would be a good replacement so you dont loose backpressure. and i dont want this to evolve into a backpressure debate.

Midpipe Resoner
The Dude Abides replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ive seen that one around. Yea guido has lots wrong with it. But until the motor or tranny goes im just gonna keep pluggin away. -
Ive noticed lately that my resoner is rattling and loose. I was thinking about just cutting this out and replaceing it with either a straight pipe, cherry bomb, or something else along those lines. Heres the kicker. I have my cat and my stock muffler and id like to keep it as reasonably quiet as possible. If i replace this thing with either of my choices am i going to drasticaly change the exhaust tone. Ben
