  1. Ok update. After my big wrench broke i was done that day. But i did change out my cap and rotor. Put in and rewired a new blower motor. And managed to fasten my battery back down so it wouldnt roll around in the engine bay. As far as the brakes go im done for this weekend. Ive got a friend with a huge garage full of tools and (AIR TOOLS) in case i run into any more problems with this darn thing. I will have a buddy then to help me bleed the brakes. Hopefully the calipers arent siezed from beinging without fluid. Well See. Ben
  2. ok now before anyone else chimes in and states you got hosed, let me elaborate. You need to check the subframe, the shock towers, underneath the thing. Sometimes these things rust bad from the bottom up. Do i think you overpaid. Yes but not buy much, these are getting more rare buy the day. And its red which is awsome. Check the forums on this sight to look for parts and pray to god yours isnt rotton from teh bottom up. Good luck and other brat guys will chime in. Ben
  3. Dont know what else he could do besides strap some rocket boosters in the bed.
  4. My 88 DL does the same thing. I just replaced the cap and rotor plugs and wires. Still there Heres what people have told me to check, i also have the iratic idleing problem as well. Check IAC Valve Check Coolant Temp Sensor Check TPS
  5. I know, mick is a big kid who never got out of his toy phase.
  6. McBrat was my local guy but hes going through a move so im not going to bother him about it. I think i can find someone with an impact to break them loose.
  7. Exactly, if you need something for a utility trailer why not just get a s10 or a small foreign truck. Theres your utility trailer right there. Just a thought.
  8. It was a 1/2 inch but craftsman. This is the 1st craftsman wrench ive had that has broken. I can get a new one for free but i might just pick up that tool for future use. Thanks for the info GD
  9. With all due respect mr GD i dont see how that is going to fix my problem when this is what i broke. Maybe it was when i used the yakama roof rack as a cheater bar.
  10. Wow that took less time then i thought. It was only 5 minutes before i snapped the end off of my big wrench trying to get the castle nut off. Oh just wonderful. I love haveing the proper tools. And people wonder why it takes me so long to get anything accomplished. I replaced the blower motor and the capand rotor as well. Nice suprise that there a screw holding the rotor on and that its impossible to get to without inventing a tool. So goble enginereing kicked in and used some duc tape pliars and fishing lure and wala it went off and on.
  11. My understanding is this is a plug and play system. The only thing i need to undo is unplug the metal brake line from the drum and screw it into the rubber line from the caliper, NOW if this is wrong then i have a problem and will not be doing this today. This kit came off a car which was converted to disc brakes not from a junkyard car.
  12. Tossin this one out there as well. How do i tell wich is the right of left side caliper when im installing these.
  13. Thinking about swaping my disc brakes over this after noon. Couple questions. How long to you think this will take and is it necessary to bleed them afterwards. Im kinda on my own on that one. Ben
  14. Yep thats the one. I was gonna snag the hood off of that one but it ended up being severly rusted underneath.
  15. Dont know if tht was the one i was looking at or not. Was it the DL.
  16. Might half to buy one from my ole buddy dennis and the parts wagon i gave him. Im pretty sure that one was good. Was the one at the junkyard a bright red DL
  17. Yea ill just half to head out to wrench and go to see if there are any decent ones there. New ones are to expensive.
  18. Ok, so, im excited im pumped. Im going to work on my car this weekend. Im at my garage checkin things over, going to top off the coolant. Check the cooland and its full, humm a day ago it needed some added. So i burp it a bit and see some bubbles comming out. I look at my fan, i dont ever remember it actually ever turning on. I drive to work and let the old girl get nice and hot. Pop the hood and have a look. Fan doesnt turn on, humm my ac clutch fan must be cooling my engine. So i get down on all 4s to see about removing this to inspect it. Oh my my my. Many many missing fins, i can actually see through it. Lots of green blotches and spots. My thinking is this is done for. SO heres my idea. Remove the radiator, both fans. Flush heater core and replace thermastat. Then remove power steering pump and remove iac and clean. Re attach iac and power steering pump. Then put good junkyard radiator (if i can find one) in the car and fine 1 huge electric fan out of another car and wire it to run all the time. Im thinking something from a ford taurus. Nice and thin. Also noticed while it was running today there is a whineing. Not like anything ive heard before. I ear checked the passanger side head and it seems to be coming from the front. Timeing belt idler. Its going to be a long winter. Its to bad i dont have more money to buy the timeing belt kit, it would be a perfect time to change out the timeing belt idler and pullys, waterpump and oil pump with the radiator and everything else out of the way. I got all my parts in, i can tell the cap and rotor will be easy. Exhaust manifold gaskets will be easy if i can get the exhaust bolts off. Valve cover gaskets will be a pain in the butt because of the ac and they are covered head to toe with a thick layer of grease. On top of all this put on my rear brakes, blast and clean up my newly aquired pugs. AND finish the body work on my car before winter. Man i need some help.
  19. I would sell you the brakes back if i didnt need them so bad. I might have a set of pugs to sell you if you would like to purchase them, or trade for a set of 15 inch perhaps. And id be up to hauling some crap for you if we all could get together.
  20. im up for a iowa meet. After or before castina. Maybe out at micks new place for a bbq. I do need to return that tool to you.
  21. No place is offroad friendly for my suby. So when we going out to see your new place and tear up your yard.
  22. When do the iowa boys get to see it in action.
