  1. Im bumping this post. I was affraid this would happen, i picked up a becks arnley from rock auto. And it looks exactly like the one on the left. IM calling ramsey.
  2. Im suprised no one has chimed in lately. Welcomem aboard. Thank you for giving exact information about your car it will help. The idleing iratically problem seems somewhat common. It could be a number of things like bad iac, the maf might be dirty, or the coolent temp sensor. Others will chime in on how to check them. As for what parts to buy ngk plugs and wires, or magnacore if you want to get crazy. oem t-stat is a must. Cap and rotor should be oem as well but people have had luck with other brands. Same goes with the coil. As far as the timeing belts, i havent done this job myself but there are several write ups on here and it is a bit overwhelming at first but very dooable with hand tools. Not a bad idea to address a couple more possible issues while your in there. As far as good subaru mechanics in oreagon, well welcome to the club. This place is full of mostly oreagon and washington subaru nuts. They will help you, lift your car, drag you out to the woods, break it, drag it back, fab it up to something from a frakenstein movie and then give it back to you. I think your in good hands. As far as parts if you have a good local subaru dealership then good for you but rockauto.com or 1stsubaru.com are good as well. Others will chime in. IM a picture whore so this thread is worthless with out pictures.
  3. Bump im either ordering from rock auto or 1st subaru in about 30 minutes, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  4. woah how did you get a fire extinguisher to do paint stripping.

Who knows, but i need to do this then flush the heatercore before winter so i make sure had have good heat. Then finish the body yad yada. Anyways hopeing this is oem. Im going to see what other people say then depending purchase it all tonight. Ben

  11. Well if its anything i can get local ill get it but these 3 parts im looking for im told buy all you good folks that they need to be oem so thats what im going for. And ask any iowa member, you dont want to deal with our local subaru dealership Thermastat Disty cap and rotor.
  12. Yes guido is a spfi car but ive already ordered and installed ngk plugs and wires. Its part its needs to be done, part chaseing some gremlens kinda thing. Just as long as there oem.
  13. Got alittle bit of money so thought with ordering a new thermo i would order a cap and rotor and finish my ignition system. At 1st subaru they mention quite a few things for disty and was wondering if the good folks on here could tell me if it was a good idea for me to replace these things as well. Oh and when ordering the cap it asks for single or dual pickup. How can i tell which one i have. Distributor Advance Pick UP Coil Govenor Thanks in advance Ben
  14. Im going to be ordering some genuine subaru parts and was wondering which ones you guys thought was the better place. Ben
  15. McBrats Iowa Subaru club is called Optionless Lama Brats.
  16. Oh shoot thats right you did loan me that. When do you want it back sir.
  17. Lately i cant even find time to look under the hood of my car. My daughters birthday is today and the party is this weekend. Running around blah blah blah. I want to change them, i really do. A friend of mine offered to help me bleed the brakes on my car if i help him change the rotors on his town car. I know easy right. Ill get them done, they might be this winter though. Getting rid of my garage in august doesnt help though.
  18. Why put the fender and the cowl back on if hes getting painted.
  19. You are so funny mick. So any more creatures building nests in your beard. And as soon as i read that i knew your arse was going to chimne in with something witty and funny about that. Atleast i bring my subarus to subaru events. Anyways i measured all wheels. There the same to the best of my measureing abilities. I have 2 different style drums on my car. Ill take pictures before but one has a raised lip in the center ant the other one doesnt. It doesnt allow me to have a center cap on my passenger side of the car. I cant explain but ill let the pictures do the talking. Ben
  20. That would involve being able to get ahold of dennis which remains MIA.
