  1. I thought about diveing into my rear disc swap today as well but im afraid ill be missing something and my car is down for the whole week.
  2. I dont know how complicated the spfi conversion is compared with an ej swap but i can tell you the ej is better. Better power, better torque, better aftermarket following. If your going to dig into it do the ej. I like my spfi fuel injection but i to am wanting to go ej. I understand the hardest part about the ej is doing the wire harness but if you go spfi your going to need a computer also.
  3. Welcome to the board my friend. 1st thing is your in the wrong section you need to post this in older subaru form. Historic is in the 70s. Mods please move. 2nd you have the dreaded automatic transmission. Very Very Very Very Very Very prone to failure. You can swap it out for another auto tranny but if your feeling froggy you can always put in the 5 speed manual. Parts for these cars are cheep, especially around here. I didnt catch if yours is 4wd or not. I cant tell you where the fluid is going but i can tell you that your trans is going bad if not bad. They didnt seem to last long and because of the only 3 speeds they wrap up pretty high in the rpms on the highway. Swap in a 5 speed and you will never regret it. 3rd pictures. Ben Oh and check out the fuel filter for your bogging down issue. Big cannister buy the driver side strut mount. )
  4. I know you and the other board members understand. But does your husband just look at you sometimes and say. Why. I know my wife does.
  5. Where did you get your cb brent ive been thinking about one also. How long does it usually take to get there from desmoines mick. Ive got a set of offroad lights i can bring along if someone wants to help me install them. I might just leave my projects at home and handle them in my own time.
  6. Yea alittle nervous about driveing out of town with my car. Ive noticed a wicked vibration when i go above 60. Fixing the back exhaust just made me notice the manifold gaskets are shot. Ill be bringing my sleeping bag, grill, charcol, cooler full of drinkies, money , tank full of gas and some eats. Unless someone wants to buy the rear mudflaps i could bring those as well. Everything else was thrown away. I probally wont take my car offroading because im gearing up for serious body work the week we come back and i dont want any xtra scrapes or mud to clean off before i start.
  7. The brat gonna make its triumph return or u bringin the wagon.
  8. so you dont think those are axel snapping aproaches.
  9. Nothing cheep. Convert it to fuel injection which costs a couple hundred. Or swap to a EJ engine for about 50 or so more hp and torque. Or swap a weber carb on ther but thats not cheep either. These are econo boxes not ment for speed. Thats not to say it cant be done but it is expensive. First things first i would suggest is to make sure your car is running good. These cars only have like 95hp. If everything is working right then you need to one of the above 3. But like i said there not cheep.
  10. Understand that those get snatched up pretty fast around here. And shipping all that would be alittle pricey. I dont know if youve read up on 5 lug stuff but you need alot of parts to do it. If you dont have any subaru xt6 or if you even know what that is you might not be able to do it. Im sure others will chime in but i believe key components you need are off that car and if subarus are a rairty in your area it might not be cheep to do. Thats why i recomended the xt springs and struts. Alot less to convert over to and would be a quick clean up for fender gap. But converting to 5 lug opens up a huge avenue for wheel selections. But again depending on how subarus thrive in your area and your cost for projects will determin where you go.
  11. People who have owned those cars before will be able to chime in more on whats common. What i suggested was more of a syleing aspect then anything. I noticed also that you have the rx front spoiler but none others. Is that common for these cars also.
  12. Buy the way, thanks for the info guys and sorry if i was snappy. Just started puttin some big time and money into this thing and i found this.
  13. I havent seen hubcaps like that ever. That front end is flyin high. Put in some subaru xt front springs and struts and it will lower the front about 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Level the thing out and no ride sacrafice.
  14. Guy at work says he can put in some sub frame connectors and reinforce the whole car on both sides.:-\
  15. Your not makeing me feel any better about the brat your parting out because the subframe rot is so bad:). Is it ok to drive it like this or should i find someone to reinforce it.
  16. Ok i did my thing and used the search function to no avail. How do you remove the front bumper on ea82 cars. 1988 DL to be exact.
  17. Beast, why does your mounting bar have 2 holes when you use only one to bolt it to the engine.
  18. Dude nice job, but we need more pictures. Ill give you alittle help on something. Your wheels are sorta unique for that car. Most if not all subarus like yours came with just regular steel wheels. Those are called the sawblades if im not mistaken and only came on the xts (am i right). You can try to find the center caps for those on here if you like.
