just bought an XT6.....added pics!
The Dude Abides replied to Numbchux's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well heres where it gets tricky Chux. Im looking to put on some 6 lug stock chevy wheels. So i dotn know how far off the offset is compared to a pug. I can get ahold of a set of 6 lug 1998 chevy aluminum wheels. The offset doesnt look to far off from a pug it was just the depth i was worried about. -
Im looking to go 16x7 and was wondering what size tire to run where they didnt look to skiny on the rim and to wide to cause rubbing and sidewall sliceing. I will be at stock height though (for the moment:grin:)

How do you think that tire would fair on a 7 inch wide wheel. Did you notice rubbing with the 55 series is that why you are going to the 50 series. -

Just curious what size tires you are running on the gold wheels. -
Hey chux just curious. What size tires did you have on it before. When you were running the 16" wheels from a impreza i believe.

Im like the only guy who wants to lower there suby instead of raise it. -
Just curious if theres any type of difference in the drivetrain between these 2 types of trannys. Other then the obvious please.

Hey im not saying that its not possible. But look at it this way. You take a 93 mustang or a 2002 impreza WRX. Bolt on differend intake system bigger injectors, bigger exhaust. Boom youve got more power. But there are no intake upgrades, or pistons, or computer kits that make a enormous amounts of power for a ea82 car. It is honestly strictly intended for a commuter car. Now the EJ22 is different. Its the same concept but aftermarket backing. You get a 120hp to start from and then go from there. If you have a turbo ej22 its even better. Id say keep it stock, a good commuter car. When youve been on here a bit and see what building one up takes then id go from there. Just some advice. Lots of people come on here looking for more hp and speed but with these it isn tthere.

I dont think the mods and power you are looking for are in the same relm. If you want the power you need the EJ swap. The ea motor that is in your and my car are ment for economy not speed. A basic EJ swap will new you a 40hp jump from stock and loades more torque. There just tricky because of the computer thing.

I dont know if i did this but drove my green turd 20 miles home today. I kept getting it to the H point on the Gauge then shut her down. Did this for a while untill i finally got her home. No steam coming out the pipe, no loss of coolant but it boiled over. Probally a stuck t-stat. I might just pull it out and run it open for whoever buys it. I guess my only concern is that i did it for so long i dont know if i cooked it or not. Your thoughts please.

Unfortunate Events... Just a feeler.
The Dude Abides replied to 88RxTuner's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Dude what the hell is wrong with you. Why dont you have a shovel in one hand digging that old rx up. Sheesh the soobs some people waste. -
I had a 5.0 once. I guess you could call it slow but compared to what. I had camaros that car would whop on. And i had a F150 that would of kicked its butt. With certain mods it can be a great little speed machine. Much more aftermarket for these cars.

More power for my 84 without an engine swap?
The Dude Abides replied to soothedlife's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Correct me if im wrong fellow board members but it is impossible to get these ea71-81-82 motors over 120 hp. They simply arent designed for it. They are desined for economy. An EJ sway (though pain in the butt) puts you in a whole other ball game. I believe you start out at 150hp for the standard 2.2 and 190hp for the turbo version. In the long run you will be happier with the swap. Otherwise spend more doing a turbo conversion, and changing out the conversions vs spend half picking up a used 2.2 Just my opinion and maybe GD will agree with me. -
Guys they made a 5.0 LX mustang as well, which is what this is. And he has a Daily Driver, this is just a fun car. Good to hear the mold will clean up. I still dont know if hes going this route as it needs a good amount of work. Awww and fords arent that bad. Every make has problem cars. Ill give him the simple green advise and we will go form there. As far as a flood car i cant be sure but doesnt look that route. It looks like the holes in the top made the interior wet and hot wet summers dont mix. ben

Thank u -
I heard the GL seats have more padding then the DL Ones. Cummon go for custom matching front and rear seats.

Ok my brother is looking into buying a 1992 Mustang LX Convertable. The Good. No rust what so ever 73 Thousand Miles Nice Paint The Bad (Long List) One Flat Tire Busted Tail Lights Busted Windshield Both Doors Hang Slightly Top is Ripped In a Couple Places. Interior Is Moldy. The story behind this is that its a 1 owner car and the Guy gives it to his kid to drive but she doesnt want a car this fast so he parks it. After a year he goes to start it up and finds the top is riped and some mold has started. So he did nothing about it and now 3 years latter hes wanting to get rid of it. It runs and shifts into gear but this interior is something else. I dont even know if you could clean it or even if you ripped the interior out would it still be in the ducts and how bad is that to clean. I personaly love mustangs like this and i think the price is decent for a running car in this shape. But looking on opinions from you guys and on the mold situation, as in if any of you have run into this before. Thanks Ben Car is 1000 bucks.

Do the ea82 4wd have shocks or struts on the back.

rule of thumb for cutting springs?
The Dude Abides replied to hatchsub's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ive been told that you can use xt springs and they will ower an ea82 about 1 1/2 inch. Its only for the front and i dont know if they will work on your ride. -

Honestly ive heard the rule of thumb for springs is dont do it. Cant you put the xt front struts like we can with the ea82 series cars.
