Thanks B that explaned it all. -
I was at hardies waiting for my food. So for some reason i pumped the brake peddle a few times to see if my system would pressurize and the engine started idleing funny like it would stall but never did. When i quit doing it it went back to normal. I did this several times with the same result. I dont think its lifethreatening but very perculear indeed. Any ideas.

GD is as blunt as a mack truck but right on. Not a great raceing car but great daily driver. The only thing you can beat your buddy on is during the winter or on a dirt road. Fix it and drive it as is. Great allaround daily drivers but customizing them takes alot of cobbling of parts. You cant even get aftermarket wheels for them, only 5 lug swap, peugots, or 6 lug conversion. -
Timeing Belt
The Dude Abides replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It wasnt anything about it being easy or not but i guess i thought you could put a sproket where the pullys were and line up some chain. I didnt realize the chans need lubricant. Yea i was tired. -
Ok its 2am and im thinking outloud. Has anyone tried replaceing the tiresum timeing belt with a sproket and chain type of system or is it not even concieveable to do this.

Rock the DL EJ Swaps are pretty straightforward and there are lots of write ups on them. You could always pick up another ea82 fi motor and put that in. Oh and i think your car is mines better looking sister. -
finally scored a $100 soob

I think i have that turnsignal -
so what are your recomendations as far as surface to cover. About a inch around where the rust is blast off the paint.
-
You are right about the holes on the side, but none bigger then a bb, at least what i can see how. When i really start hitting it then well see. Didnt you say you had a bit of por-15. Wouldnt that atleast slow it down more. I will clean up the metal as much as possible and then some but i dont have access to a sodablaster.
-
I still have the yakama you gave me but i think im going to keep the roofline clean. Thanks though. And brent yea its going to be a tough one. I wish i new someone with a soda blaster or something to clean up the quarters. Ironically the hatch and that drivers side are the worst spots. I know people with tank blasters but nothing portable. Honestly though im doing this as cheep as possible. Honestly i just want it one solid color, im tired of this rust crap. If i half to keep fixing it until it surcomes to its wonds then so be it.

I could use a new passenger side fender but someone said they could weld in a patch of metal in there for me. Im leaving off the front and rear trim pieces and filling them in with tigerhair. Yea the small trim holes are there and on spot the size of a baseball on the fender

Needin some advice...
The Dude Abides replied to SubaruWagon87's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
amazing you need yet another subaru. -
I have had 2 small pickups. A 92 isuzu and a 93 s 10. The s 10 was great but had the doggy 2.8, and the isuzu was great to but body ate itself out before the engine did. I would recomend a full size vehicle though. I just dont know if i could trust something smaller then what i was useing to haul it. But if i were to pick somehting to haul around a small trailer or a quad it would be a s-10 with the 4.3
