  1. ok, I think the fusible link box checked out, I had good voltage on all three links. I did not see anything on the windshield washer tank that looked like a fusible link. is there another fuse somewhere that I am missing? How difficult to just run a new wire to bypass the old one? The clock I can do without, the horn can be easily bypassed, but the hazard is the one that I am worried about since that is connected to too many things for me to rewire quickly. any other suggestions?
  2. Ok, I am getting my car inspected this week and was replacing the horn (horn would not work, but tested out voltage when button was pressed and got full voltage). I plugged the new horn in pushed the button, but no sound, Hmm, probably just got the wires backwards, so I switched, but still no sound. I did a voltage check, no voltage now. I checked the fuse, it is good, but everything that is hooked to that one fuse is not working (horn, hazard and clock). I changed fuses anyway, but no go. I am assuming fusible link is out, but cannot seem to locate it. Any assistance would be appreciated.
  3. Try it, take a camera for the potential tranny carnage and let us know.
  4. I think you answered your own question/problem. Adjust the idle until no more 'fut'! Nothings sounds better than a turbo idling at 3000 RPM's:grin:
  5. YOU NAMED YOUR LITTLE GIRL GUIDO??? NOW THATS HOT!!
  6. You know, I think you have too many serious issues with that thing...I think you should just let me take if off your hands to save you the hassle of it all:clap:
  7. Ok, a couple of days ago, I got some bigger wheels and tires and cut out the fenders for fit. I will be getting some flares, but was wondering what others here are using (whether you cut or not) and any cheap pre-made jobs that would fit or come close to fitting etc. Would LOVE to see some pics of some fender flares too!
  8. Tom, thanks a million for the advise. I am thinking that I won't be getting it simply for the fact of the reserve, but I am keeping my eye on it. 1500 is too much for me to spend on something like this. For this much, I will get a good west coast Hatch and have it shipped.
  9. LOL, easy fit! Seriously, if I can get it cheap enough, I was thinking it could be a great place to put those ATV tire and wheel setup! Almost as small as an ATV, probably not quite as capable but a HECK OF A LOT cheaper!
  10. You know you are correct. I have a couple of cars and just got a subaru and it is fun to get to know some of the limits of it without worrying if you can make it to work the next day or can take the kids to school!
  11. Yeah, that is what I have noticed. I also drive a 5 speed ford ranger and can usually muscle up most hills around here without worry as it has some good low end grunt under 2000 rpm's. Driving the subaru (I have got to name it don't I?) to my folks house yesterday with some good size hills involved made me realize that I need to find out how to shift these things as I was dragonfly most of the way (in case you have never heard this before, dragonfly is "dragon up hill and flyin' down hill") so I figured that I was not keeping the little thing in the right torque band. (not that it has much anyway, but still). From the answers here, it appears as if I will need to increase my shifting range about 1000 RPM's. Just not used to hitting an engine so hard. Hmmm. This might be a good time to try the dual shifter 2wd low idea that I have been following...
  12. Yeah, thats the one. Just a question if I could Tom. About the AC. Does it have all the parts, just not working, or did it come without AC? (easier to fix AC than to try to install it new...)
  13. Just curious as to how high some folks rev before shifting and the various typical shift patterns of people who drive different engines.
  14. I have the opportunity to potentially acquire a 5 speed 4x4 Justy since it is a fairly nice looking vehicle and my wife just rolled her eyes, but didn't say no. Since I am new to Subaru's period and know nothing about the Justy or the 3 cylinders. What is the deal with these cars? Good Cars or just a little economy POS? I know they are push button 4x4, is this still any good? Thanks in advance for any wisdom. Attached is a pic.
  15. how is that working? I would like to do something like that myself.
  16. I just bought new wheels and tires before I even drove my "new" subaru a foot, so I don't know how it drove before, but as I am driving, I notice a moderate shimmy in the steering wheel. I am going to be replacing the ball joints, could probably need some more shocks. Any more suggestions?
  17. Wow! Who needs chiltons with a rundown like that! Thanks alot Bratman!!
  18. Kewl, that was what it looked like, thanks a bushel for the replies, I appreciate it. What about the upper portion of the ball joint, anything to look out for there?

Now that is saweet! How does it run with that?
  20. Is this as easy as it looks like it will be while I am under my car looking at them? do they need to be pressed in or anything special that my modestly stocked tool collection cannot handle?
  21. That is certainly not right, I knew everything at 16, now the older I get, the more I realized how much my parents knew...how the heck did this happen??
  22. That's what I'm talkin' about!! Very nice. Get er going so we can start our own little MO soob off road club and not let all the guys out west have all the fun!
  23. Dang, not only that, but it looks like they took a couple of shots at you too :-\ Hate to see that happened to you, vandals suck!
  24. not to hijack this thread or anything, but YEEHAW!! The soob that I just acquired about a week ago was from an old man that used it on his farm for the last 2 years, and didn't need it anymore, so he gave it to me since he knew I was a redneck (I thanked him for the nice compliment) and liked to get free stuff. When he handed me the keys and title, he said that it needed a new exhaust and a new clutch since it never engaged until the very top of the pedal travel. After reading this thread, I went out and adjusted the clutch and now it works very well, grabs hard and holds on tight. The muffler was loose, so that was an easy fix. I drove it to work today and it worked wonderfully well, so much so that I will be parking the Ford Ranger and using this as my primary as it is so fun to drive. To all that read this thread, thank you very much for your time spent on this and all the other threads, to answer questions that have been posed probably about a thousand times in a hundred different ways and always being willing to answer it one more time and not flaming anyone just because you are the master-poster and the threadstarter is a newbie. I sincerely appreciate it!
  25. C'mon cobcob, you gotta get something so I can have someone in MO that understands the soob thing that just recently got me hooked...
