  1. Yeah, finally a question I can answer.
  2. I didn't think to look at the badges. It was definitly an ea81 thou. It had a very diffrent air filter housing on it. I'm gonna go look at it closer tomorrow.
  3. I found a 1985 EA82 body style car today that has a Hydro lifter, ea81 engine in it. Its a 5 speed, dual range 4wd. It looks totally stock, too. I did a search on the board and came up with not much except it probably wasn't a USA market car. Anyone have any ideas as to where they were originally sold?
  4. Hi,welcome! I'm kinda new myself. It is a Great site, isn't it?Folks around here are always willing to help keep your soob on the road. Congratulations on your new brat. Folks around here like pic's too. ;-) Seeya around.
  5. Wow! That XT6 needs alot of serious structural reconditioning. Even if a person has the knowledge and skill to do that kinda work, I cant imagine it would be much fun or even very rewarding when you are done. I mean, after all that time, money and work, the XT6 will still look the same. I hear your New Blue Coupe is straight and rust free. Any other repairs or upgrades it may need You could do yourself in your own time. To me, thats important. I would send the XT6 packin' and concentrate on that sweet little coupe.
  6. Wait a minute. All is not lost. I read somewhere that the '08 calender is also going to work for the year 2027. Don't quote me on that, I may be off a few yrs.
  7. NICE! My favroite soob is the ea81 Wagon. Especially a lifted one that looks That Good. Diggin' that Safari Basket,Too. Hey Man, My Son's Love riding around in the Wagon. The Daughter doesnt like it, but at 13 she doesn't like much of anything.
  8. I used the same set screw. I just move it around to where I had put that zerk. The two bungs are identical. I went out and hit every speed bump i could find, not even a little pop. So, if your getting a unexplainable pop out of the rear of your ea81 when your rear wheels travel up and down, re-position the torsion bar set screw to the alternate bung. It might fix it. BTW, this was a Huge Pop I was getting. Enough to make my passengers think the rear wheels were falling off.
  9. Well, how important is the set screw/bolt? Seems thats whats making the Popping noise. I removed it and the popping is gone. Here's what I found. The set screw is not setting. Its allowing the bushing to rotate in the tube.I'm going to try a little longer set screw. Pic 2 shows the original set screw pushed into the bushing enough to bend it. Also, the set screw is worn at the end.Splines look Good.
  10. Thanks GD...It is an ea81. I'll give it a whirl. And, I'll take that "Zerk" out.
  11. I am trying to track down a Popping noise coming from the passenger side, rear tire area of my lifted wagon. The popping happens when the wheel travels up into the well or down like dropping off a curb or something..I have gone over every bolt three times and pulled the hub/inspected brakes. Everything is tight and as it should be. I'm suspecting this thing here that I'v taken a Pic of. I put a grease zert into it and was able to add a little grease, no change. Should I take this thing apart? Any ideas? Thanks.
  12. Here's the one that came off of my '80 Wagon.
  13. I've seen the fasteners for the roof rack leak and eventually ruin the head liner. Hope thats not your situation.
  14. Tomorrow morning I'm going to power wash the heck out of it. I have another good EA81 to put into it, but i'm running out of Webers. I might actually have to break down and learn something, figure out how to get one of these Hitachi's with all there Vac. stuff to run properly. Webers are cool, but I have weberized three Subaru's now (every one I own). It's kind of a cop out, kinda. Either way, under all that grim and green stuff, it's a solid car. I'm going to make it Run again. Maybe it will Run well enough to tow a Coupe back to Connecticut.
  15. I thought it was just me, I love that Pick-up!
  16. WOW! I've seen three or four nice Hatch's pop up on the Board recently (mine being one) . That one looks near Perfect.
  17. No..Blown headgasket. Its decent inside thou. His wife drove it for a couple years after the Hatch I bought from them last week, blew a HG (which I put a resealed motor in, runs great.). She has a new OBW sitting in the driveway. I never got to meet her, seems she's a die hard Subaru fan. I wanted to plug the board. They're older folks who own a Horse Ranch up on the Kitsap Peninsula. Nice people.
  18. Yeah, I can see some corrosion behind it. Not quite rust, but something that shouldn't be there. I'll power wash it really well tomorrow. Get a good look at it.
  19. I dragged this wagon home today. The guy I bought the Hatch from last week had it in his yard and said I could have it for Free, if I promised to come back soon and get it. Well, you know i can't turn down a Free subaru. Especially one that has some really Cool door trim. It looks to be aluminum and it is riveted on. I'v never seen it before, I'm wondering if its stock?
  20. There is a decent hitch bolted to the back of a '89 loyale at the Tumwater PAP. Looks to be along the lines of what Uhaul might sell. I saw it today. This doesn't really help you, woundedbrat, but maybe someone wants to go grab it..I think there hitchs are a flat rate $35.
  21. I should know Not to guess. GD is always Lurking. BTW, my '87 GL has a EA81.
  22. I just bought a '87 GL Hatch..It's a 4 speed and a dual range. I bet the one your looking at is too 'cause I'm pretty sure the S/R was discontinued years earlier.
  23. Don't write um off so fast. They do work and they work well. You just have to work with them.. I haven't broken an extractor in years. The business of drilling out the center material in a broken bolt is what relieves the tension. Its important to center your first hole as this will allow you to remove more material as you increase your drill size. Also, use good stuff. All of my extraction stuff is German and English made. Dormer and SPi to be exact. If you have never done it, practice on something first..Its a handy skill and once you learn it, you'll be extra careful not to break off bolts.
  24. I have had good luck using ez outs (bolt extractors). Drill out as much material as you can so you can use the largest possible ez out. Start off with a small bit centered on the broken bolt and work your way up. Take your time. Use some pentrating oil.too. Your chance of success is much greater if you can get the work right in front of you. Good luck doing that hunched over a hub in a wheel well.
