  1. Heres where im at. I just picked up a '84 wagon, ea81, 4speed d/r . Plus, it has a running ea81. A few interior parts I need and a good radiator with two Fans. Im gonna pull the ea71 and s/r 4speed out of the '80 tonight.
  2. Ok. I'm on it. I was actually loading tools a minute ago and came back in for one last check. I'll see if I can find a EA81, GL 4wd transmission. Thanks for the help.
  3. Just foward of the ebrake and just aft of the stick shifter, favoring the drivers side just by a few inches.
  4. Sounds pretty straight foward. I have the exhaust for the EA81. Still attached to the engine in the 2wd wagon. This is probably my best option since the EA81 is a upgrade also. Will the existing shifting linkage in my '80 wagon work with the new EA81 4wd transmission? Thanks.
  5. If I was to get the tranny, what else would I need? driveline or exhaust? Speedo cable? Thanks for the tip.
  6. Is a gen 2 ea71 what I have now in my 1980 gl hatch? I'm really new. Sounds like your giving me some good info but I aint understanding it. Can you explain it a little more? Thanks.
  7. If I was able to find a EA81 matching transmission, then is that a dirrect bolt in? I am wondering about driveline lenght and exhaust hookup. I see alot writen about Brat conversions but not much on the 80' wagon conversion...Thanks.
  8. Thanks for the direct answer. Now I can unravel my situation. The 1980 wagon is a beautiful little car. 110k miles and really is in good shape. The 1984 is pretty much a parts car with a good engine. Im thinking I should look for a good running EA71 or maybe trade my EA81. Anyone interested??? Yelm is a great little town. Growing like crazy. I bet I know the place your sister ownes. Just up the street. Actually everything is just up the street. Ill check out the thread..I was wondering if the white Brush Guard is a factory item.. I just bought this beauty today..$350
  9. I cant find the info I need. I have a 1980 4wd, GL, Hatchback with a EA71, 4 speed. The engine has a terrible knock. I also have a 1984 2wd, GL hatchback with a EA81, 5 speed. Engine runs great...The bellhousings are obviously diffrent. Can I simply replace the ea71 with my ea81 using the bellhousing off the ea71. Thats what i want to do anyways. First post here...Great site. Thanks for any help or suggestions. I know this has been asked a million times before, but everything I have read leaves lotsa blanks.... http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/soob6.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/soob7.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/soob1.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/soob3.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/soob2.jpg
