  1. The rated cranking power of a battery is an important factor for cold climates. A very good battery is an excellent investment. $100 or so over 5 or more years isn't all that expensive when you think about it.
  2. Use an engine block heater during coldest weather. Just a suggestion, I don't live where it's cold enough to need one so I can't say how well they work.
  3. I tried to delete my previous post but could not for some reason.
  4. BratShitCrazy: Thanks for the offer but I think I'll pass.
  5. I did get my money back. And nothing wrong with the one you sent me. It is still in the shipping packaging. I haven't had the money to have it installed until this month. I plan to get that done in Sept. It's always about the cash flow. I know a couple of local Subaru guys who would like to have working AC in their Subes, that's why I was interested in what else might be available.
  6. Mine always worked great on my '86 GL until I had the clutch & flywheel replaced. Then the hill holder locked up the brakes, so had it disconnected. I'd like to get get it working properly again.
  7. I'm surprised they fit in a medium flat rate as well. I have the wrong one that was sent to from an online vendor and it looks to big to fit in one. If it's works I sure won't complain.
  8. If I'm understanding this correctly a compressor can fit in a USPS flat rate box? I don't know how much one weighs but I've picked up the wrong one I received and it's mighty heavy. Here's what I got from the USPS site: Large Flat Rate Box $17.65 commercial base $18.90 at Post Office (retail & online) Outside: 12 1/4" x 12 1/4" x 6" Inside: 12" x 12" x 5 1/2" Laptop Computers Gifts etc.
  9. I meant to stop by the local Sube dealer to see if they could fit me up. I want to be driving my Sube when I do but it's been too danged hot to be driving it, since its AC doesn't work. I'm trying to get the AC going again (another topic). Meanwhile, I'm driving my Ford Escape.
  10. How long has it been sitting? Do they seize up after sitting for a long time? Just wondering.
  11. Someone reasonably close is offering me one for $20, no shipping necessary. Let me see how that works out. I think the one I need is an MJS, or MSJ. Which I think stands for Matsushita Subaru Japan. Matsushita seem to have taken over Fuji Heavy Industries. Again, I think that's the way it went.
  12. Those things are heavy, I wonder how much shipping would be?
  13. Is yours a match to mine, do ya' think? By no fluid do you mean no refrigerant? I'm interested!
  14. I have a transcript of the chat from last week, where I'm told by a vendor rep that the vendor will pay for the shipping. Now I'm waiting for the prepaid shipping label. I'm going to see if they have a corporate HQ. If they do then I'll pester someone there.
  15. First I have to get my money back for the compressor that doesn't fit. That was guaranteed it would. It's not a straightforward return, since I'm not paying to ship it back or paying a restocking fee, and I'm not at fault. I was verbally told told that it would indeed fit, and the website says "guaranteed to fit". Trying to get hold of a real person at the site is almost impossible. They don't even answer to chat, just too, too busy. Like I'm going to give up...nope.
  16. My stock EA82 has had no overheating issues and it's driven almost daily in stop & go traffic. Temps here have been in the mid - to high 90s for most of the summer.
  17. Thank you for those #s. I'm definitely going to look into them, because, as people here have said, it's important that the AC has all its belts.
