As soon as I DEQ and get my exhaust put in place I will show you some stuff in estacada and vice versa you could show me around wildcat
And as soon as I get my front wheel bearings in.
Cool.
I also have a guy with a big built Jeep that is wanting to show me some trails too. (he was impressed by a three wheel tweaked pic I posted on the SORE4X4 board)
Says he'll bring some good tow straps and other tools so I can get up into places that I normaly can't reach. Being that my GL is pretty much stock.
I have not been up to Wildcat in awhile, still need to finish exploring it but there is a fun little rock quarry area up there I know of.

I'm constantly having problems with those clamps.
Just found that the one I fixed last week came back off. And I bought the tools to get them tight, both the pull and bend kind and the crimp kind. I think the main problem is getting it all clean enough so the clamp wont slip off from the grease. (I thought I did)
Thought about a hose clamp but didn't think it would clear on the outside CV joint, which is where I have the most problems.
Are there "lower profile" clamps maybe....proly not...?
I was just gonna put two new axles in with factory tightened clamps.
Looks like I may have to look back into hose clamps. My subie never gets over 55 (most of it's life is spent in lo-range in the dirt) so I don't think balance will be too much of a problem. But the problem is all the dirt getting into my "CO" (constantly opening) joints.

Aww nice and muddy.
Wish I could have made it up this year.

Been going up around the Lolo Pass and Wildcat areas.
Found some good stuff but just want to find more.
Would kinda like to be shown the good stuff I may have not found yet.
My GL is stock with only the adjustable suspension cranked up and the most agressive stock sized tires I could find. So nothing too crazy. But I still like to get it up on 3 wheels, and give the rocker panels some action.
Anyone around that wants to go up for a day trip around here or somewhere else sorta close? (I'm willing to drive an hour or so at the moment)
I have a RallyCross next weekend (9th) so that weekend is out.
This weekend might work. Just gotta put new seals in my trans.

Thanks! That is the info I needed.

I poked around and didn't see any info on this.
It's an 83GL 4WD 1.8L 4 speed with dual range.
The front axle seals on the transmission are leaking.
It went from a small drip every so often to a steady drip.
My questions is this. My manual has no info on replacing these and suggests that it be done by shop or the dealer.
Is this something I can do if I get ahold of a special tool?
Is there any trick to it?
Or should I just find a shop that can do it and suck it up?
I just hate to have to pay a shop for something as trivial as seals.
Maybe I need to get a different manual. (mine is one of the cheap Haynes, does the job most times)
Thanks for any help.

I'd love to get in on this.
My schedule is kinda wierd right now though.
Front wheel bearings are kinda grumbly for a long highway trip as well.
hhmmm......

Did a little exploring over the weekend around Lolo Pass and a little just outside Estacada.
Didn't get any pics of the rock climb that smashed my cat but here are a few pics I did get.
The last pic has me thinking it's time for diff breathers and an intake snorkle. I should have checked the depth of the mud puddle on the other end as well.
