  1. Car has a New radiator and cap. Did the normal fill upper hose and burp through vent screw. System 100% full. Drive for 5-10 min starts overheating, looses water and no sighs of a water leak.
  2. The car keeps loosing water/antifreeze and I have no idea where it goes. Does not smoke just starts over heating. Put a new rad in it and still does it. I know when my 2.5 did the same thing it was the head gaskets I'm assuming it the same for the 2.2. If so can the heads be removed in the car or do I have to remove the whole motor? thanks Joe
  3. Where can i get a 33ohm 5 watt resistor at? looked at radioshack and no luck.
  4. I checked the fluid and it is full but smells burnt. It does sound like skipping gears when i took a better look at it today.
  5. Disconnected the alt. and that is not it. I'm going to check the ground on the antenna next.
  6. i have a 1997 Subaru Legacy gt 2.5 sedan. I have a factory am/FM cass. with CD player. When the car is off the radio plays fine but when the car is running it get interference in FM mode. i thought the radio was bad so i changed it with a nother factory radio with the same problem. The radion was fine untill the past week. Any clues on the problem? thanks Joe
  7. I have a 1997 legacy gt 2.5 sedan AWD automatic trans. The car runs(did a whole head rebuild and reseal) and drives great except when i put in reverse. If i push the gas lightly it moves fine, but when i hit the gas hard i get a skipping grinding noise i think fro the front diff. If I hold the brakes the noise is bad and get no motion pressure on the brakes. My question is is the front diff bad and can it be fixed without doing the whole trans or is the whole trans bad? How are the JDM trans listed on E-bay? Thanks Joe
  8. I have a factory keyless entry system. The problem is i can lock all doors and unlock the drivers door. It will not open all the other doors. The manual says to hold down unlock button to open all doors. I have tried this and it doesn't work. Is it the remote itself or the door lock module? thanks Joe

  10. Sorry resealed. the heads were completely gone over and valves replaced and tested. I saw a few bubbles not a lot. i figured it is air pockets.
  11. I just resealed the engine. Had the heads completely redone with new valves and they were decked. I used all gaskets from my local Subaru dealer. i put a new water pump, thermostat, timing belt, all new hoses and regular belts. Here is my problem the car runs great, but the lower hose stays cold i have no heat and it starts to overheat(I shut it down before it pins the needle.) I thought i bought a bad stat so i changer it and still have the same problem. Could it be a bad water pump? I just can not see it being the head gaskets. thanks Joe
  12. I'm going to run it later and check the smoke, but the last time it was really bad. Getting a compression tester from co-worker tomorrow to check that. thanks Joe
  13. All Subaru gaskets where used.(FYI Subaru and Felpro are the same told by dealer).I will double check the overheating(shut it down after smoke appeared).one head was fine and the other was milled and new valves installed.
  14. I do not know how many times it was overheated. Any way besides taring the motor apart to tell if it is the liner> thanks Joe
  15. 1997 Legacy gt sedan.I have to say i do like Subaru's but the 2.5 engine just sucks. I only drive the car a few times a month. Started up the other day and let is warm up and moved it and white smoke out the exhaust. I have less that 200 mile on the replacement. What about replacing it with a JDM motor? I see them all the time on eBay for about a grand. Also what about replacing it with a 2.2 or i have see a twin turbo 2.0. If i can replace it with another motor what years can i use? It sucks cause i have 2200 in it already and I'm not looking forward in dumping in another grand or so. If anyone is interested I will sell it for 2200.00.
  16. All the valve lash's where at the specs the dealer told me. I do believe those number sound about right
