  1. There's a possibility of a cam or crank position sensor/reluctor type mismatch, maybe? I've seen that cause a no-spark, but not a poor running condition. Dave
  2. Is the assumption here that just pulling the axle from the hub will trash the wheel bearings? Dave
  3. Was the wheel bearing replaced without removing the knuckle/spindle? If so, no alignment required. Dave
  4. The bearing is either OK- or it isn't, but if it does go bad I would guess it would fail in a normal fashion, probably nothing weird. Dave
  5. ** Purchase a new hub in case you need it, return unopened if you don't ** If there are lines going around the hub where the inner races go, it needs a hub as the inner races have been spinning on the hub. Dave
  6. Don't forget that a bunch of rust on the hub-rotor mating surface can make the rotor wobble... and the whole wheel. Dave

What I'll throw in is if you are really going off-road this may be a useful mod, especially as having the front/rear locked together can be quite useful going down-hill, but 99.999% of the time you won't get a real gain with the switch. If you are really going off-road, you'll want to think about what to do with the ABS... Dave
  8. Could be a trans filter if this is an auto. Earlier H6's have one under the fender liner there. Some people incorrectly replace them with an oil filter. Dave

As a bit of general info, I'll add that it is very easy to get a subaru to torque steer, all you need is any situation where the suspension is deflected a bit and the driveshafts are no longer nice and straight and equal length. For example, there are some roads around here that are dramatically crowned (more due to subsidence than purpose), or if you have a bad strut spring up front. Dave
  10. TPS doesn't fix it, but resetting the computer fixes it for at least a month. Seems to be an H6 thing. Dave
  11. A downshift where it doesn't really need to, so it revs quite a bit, or a bit of flare and a big BANG when it drops into 3? Dave
  12. I think that you are MUCH SAFER pulling the fuel pump fuse. Pull the fuse, start it and run it until it stalls. If it will run on the seafoam, pull both. Dave
  13. The phrase "Make sure that no crack or other damage exists. In addition to visual inspection, inspect important areas by means of red check" makes me think it's a chemical crack-check procedure.   15. I can't confirm it will, but in watching all things H6 and subaru stuff in general for the past few years I can't recall anything... but there were some changes '01 to '02 to the cars in general, I think. Dave
  16. If it is the same I can't imagine why it is listed as different by subaru, and by the few driveshaft rebuilders that list them on-line. But stranger things have happened. Dave
  17. Every set of pads for my subie have needed grinding to slide freely in the holders. Dave
  18. Plugged fuel filter? Bad batch of gas with a bunch of water in it? Someone shove a bunch of golf balls up the tailpipe? Plugged converter? Dave
  19. I have a comment or 2 or 3, we'll see what it comes out as... Under 300 bucks for a service job that requires a press? That's cheap! I bought a press to do my wheel bearing because I will use the press for other things, would probably not buy one just for this job. How much force can the HF or even the expensive hub-tamer achieve? My HF 20 ton A-frame press was pretty near capacity* (so call it 15T, heh) to press the large outer-race from the knuckle, can a screw-press (which is what the HF and hub-tamer devices are) achieve that level of force? * I say it was near capacity because I was using the included extension handle and I was just about hanging on the handle.   20. If it's in 1st and rolling backwards it is sucking oil out of the engine and into the pan... as much as it can through the drainback valve. Dave
  21. You would probably notice the ABS unit running, but when the ABS activates it draws a considerable load. Dave
