  1. Lucky beast! It took me 8 months to find a similar car in Vancouver, and then it cost $6800! You wouldn't believe the crap I saw for even more money, either. Too bad it has the automatic. However, you will soon see on this board that that is easily fixed.
  2. 1. The 5 speed runs about 3000 RPM , so the automatic is a little higher. No big deal. 2. My '93 doesn't do this. I would suspect the thermostat. Does it have one? 3. Common problem, the voltage dropping resistors are blown. There is a thread on here about replacing it. I have the same problem with 1st speed on mine, but I can't figure out where the resistor block is located from the description in that thread!
  3. How hot is the air coming out of the turbo? Can the BPV take the temperature?
  4. The recent cold weather has showed up a couple of problems with my '93 4WD Loyale wagon. It is pretty cold up here, been down to -15 to -20 deg. C recently. 1. The throttle sticks when first starting. I have to bust it loose before starting, or else it sticks wide open the first time I touch the gas. (WOT, 7500 RPM is not good for a cold engine!) A couple of times I have had to get under the hood to unjam the throttle quadrant/cable. 2. Twice, I have had it start, then die, and refuse to start until half an hour or so later. Not good when it is this cold outside! No check engine light, it just cranks and won't start. Could it be flooding for some reason, the cold screwing up the MAF sensor? Any other brilliant suggestions? The Alaska folks are probably the most likely to have hit similar weather to what we get around her, they aren't that far away. Our climates are pretty similar.
