  1. Where I am in Jersey we got about 24 inches of snow over the night.

I bought a 94' loyale 2 years ago, and then a few months ago gave it to my younger sister when she got her liscense.

Last night I decided to "borrow" the loyale because my Grand Marquis wasnt doing so well in the snow.

This car is amazing! I never got the chance to drive it in snow in excess of 5 inches, but last night I was tearing through un-plowed parking lots with close to 18 inches on the ground like nothing. It didnt get stuck once, I even tried to get it stuck! I only had trouble when the snow became level with the hood, i'd then have to back the car through its tracks. Though the car is an automatic and lacks the horsepower my Bronco had, I have to say this car seemed to handle the snow better than my truck did.

Im sold, Im now looking for a second car for myself, and yes it will be a Subaru! (possibly a GL or another Loyale)

Sorry if i bothered you all, just had to brag!

  2. This soob was my Father's, which he bought new about the late 70's early 80's (i think more early 80's)

Although I dont remember much about my dad because he passed away when I was 8.

Recently I came across alot of pictures I found of the cars, boats, trucks he owned.

And my mom always said he loved that little yellow subaru and it was one of his favorite cars (she dosnt remember much about it either).

So I figure maby some of you will know which year and model it is.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Unfortunaly I am forced to sell one of my vehicles, and Im selling the Soob because my other car has been in the family since new.

Anyway Heres the link for it.

    And some info:

Its a 94 Loyale Wagon 4x4, with the 3spd auto and the EA82.

Lots and Lots have been done to her in the past 5 months by the original owner (before I bought it)

New Radiator, CV joints and boots, Camshaft seals, rear seal, Timing belt, shocks, and 4 brand new tires. Also plugs, wires and a dist cap.

Well the guys who I bought it from gave me the receipt which it all added up to almost 1500 bucks.

Has no rust and only has 96k miles on her. Leaks very little oil though (and ive learned most soobs do)

Well id appriciate any help on making this hard decision.

  4. 1994 Loyale Wagon 4x4, EA82 1.8. 93k miles.

Was driving home today from Grandparents house, doing about 65-70, and the engine light came on. Slowed to 55, and about 5 min later it went out.

Does this have any specific meaning why it went on then out? Faulty fuse maby? At first I thought it meant 3k miles where up, and was time for a oil change...

I checked in the manual, said to have it checked at a Subaru dealer, yea right...

So if anyone has an idea what it could mean let me know. Ill try to bring it to my shop tomorrow and hook it up to the scanner, see what it gets.

But let me know has this happen to any of you.

  5. Well my 94' Loyale has been running great for the past month since I got it.

However I have a concern about the engine. The 1.8 only has 93k miles on it, and well taken care ones.

Last week I had to work on my aunt's car so I parked the soob in the garage for about 7 days.

Well the other day when I went to get it, I pulled out and there was a few drops of oil, nothing major. I know this had the cam, head, and gaskets, replaced just a few months ago. So Should I be worried about that little drops of oil? OR is this a common thing with soobs.

It only burns about 1 quart every 1-1,500 miles so I figure its ok.

Also while driving it home last night on the parkway, going around 65, (revs where around 3,700) About 15 miles into driving the car made a weird sound like metal clanking real fast for a split second, I had no Idea what the heck that was but it didnt do it the rest of the way. (even while going faster or slower) Anyone else had that noise?

    All help appriciated!

  6. Title says it all. On a 94' Loyale I know for a fact that they came standard with Manual Trannys. Unfortunatly for me the original owner was a older woman who wanted a 3 spd auto.

I was curious if it was anyway possible to convert over to a 5spd. Is there any websites with detailed info on how to run a clutch pedal, install stick shift, and I figure I have to keep the Auto Shift on the fly 4x4 since I noticed some manuals have the push button instead of another stick.

SO I was wondering how difficult this could be?

  7. First off, no my wagon is in possibly the condition it was when it rolled off the line, only has 91k miles.

Its the 1.8 engine with the automatic trans.

Everything has been tuned up for the 90k service, plugs, filters, camshaft, head, valvecovers, seals, dist cap, plug wires, all fluids, oil changed every 3k miles.

So no my car is far from out of tune. Problem is, at 165 miles on the odometer the gas guage reads E. It fills up with exactly 11 gallons of gas. Lots of highway miles on this car also. YEs its cold weather here in jersey, but my 90 Ford Bronco was getting 24-26 Miles per gallon. So either the gas tank for this model is larger than yours and the guage is way off, I dont know, does anyone?

Or is someone stealing my gas?
