  1. Yeah it's a cake walk wiring wise. Cold start up is far better then stock. When I started it was bone stock, started with the msd box and coil, idled better and seemed to have a bit more upper end power to red line but my butt dyno might need a weather correction. After I ditched the shittichi carb and picked up a weber, swaped intakes with a carbed ea82 and added a wideband to aide in tuning my brats running awesome. Be as I live in eastern Washington were in a cold snap and it's been cold as spoob and the ol'ea81 rattles to life with a pump of the gas and 4 roll overs and she's good to go. I'm about due for an oil change I'm still running summer oil 10w40.
  2. I think you might be right. Anyway to make it fit?
  3. Does anyone have one and be willing to snap a few photos. That would be awesome!
  4. 3" is way to big for a ea81 motor. 2 1/2 is as big as you would want to go.
  5. The one I got looms like it mounts to the engine subframe. Is yours using the tow hooks?
  6. Alright I got an 85 brat can't figure out how to mount the A bar style brush guard. Any pictures or input would be hella awesome.
  7. Word thanks guys. I've never been disappointed with the info I get from usmb and it's members! Thanks for saving the day!
  8. All right that's what I thought. 85 first year of the ea82's( can't use ea82's to wide correct?)
  9. Can I use a 84 gl axle in my 85 brat? Long story short need cv axle only one in stock is an 84 gl axle. From what I understand ea81's are all the same? Should I buy the 84 gl or do I order the one for the 85 brat and wait?
  10. I haven't figured out how to post pictures from my phone yet.
  11. I got her figured out, she's running as good as she should with a stock carb. New weber showed up a few day ago and filter and choke cable showed up today, just waiting on the intake manifold gaskets to show up at work ( Subaru dealer) and I'll slap that bad boy on.
  12. Doesn't replace anything, msd= multiply spark discharge. Google msd and read on there boxes. Hotter speaks, more offen at lower rpm, full spark at 3k rpms. Still needs a good signal from the dizzy.
  13. It might be the wiring, the blue box or the pump it self.
  14. I ended up puting a msd box and blaster Ss coil in mine. Starts easy and runs like a top. Best of luck to ya and keep us posted on the fix.
  15. Not that I know of. Is the pump getting power? Is the coil getting power?
  16. That is correct. The blue box is the fuel pump controller it gets its ground from the neg side of coil your tach is ran from the same wire.
  17. Might be the coil, should have 3 wires on the neg side of the coil, one to the dizzy, one to the cap, one to the tach, I don't remember the stripe color. Chech you wiring, might be the fuel pump relay, if I'm not mistaken its behind the speaker on the driver side right behind and above the fuse box.
  18. Old set up still works, new blast Ss coil with cap worked like old, hard to start, take cap out on new coil, works good starts easy, as soon as I hook up the cdi box crank no start.
  19. I've got a brat cap on my 85 it uses the tie down that are built in to the sides of the bed. Just some j-bolts that go through a bracket on the shell with a nut on top pretty easy.
