  1. What do you guys think is better, KC's or Hella's? What models? I am talking about something round. For instance Hella 500's? Are they decent or not worth the money? They have 4000's 3000's etc but I couldn't find specs on all of them even on their site. What's the best out there for let's say 150 or less? Boz I've got something in mind.
  2. Post a message with the topic ATTN: BRATSRUS (jerry) and tell him what you have/want. The kit I believe is 100 bucks plus shipping. You will have to send him the shifters from the 4spd and the 5 spd. If not he will charge more because he will have to go get some himself. You missed a zero Bozz.........LOL
  3. Paul, What's your addy? I will try to send something out to you. It will probably be a check to your name. Is your last name moosens, I never really thought to ask you about that. PS. Thanks for the stuff. Hopefully by next year, my BRAT will be part way done. I should have a pic of the top half of my roobar in my album shortly (tonight) That's gonna be one of the first things I do. I gotta get it blasted, fab up a spot for my turn signals (I have a spot I think) and drill some holes for the lights and towhooks. (One in the pic if you look hard enough, Pass side) Wife and I made a deal, She claims she's gonna buy me a lift kit. I will probably pay for half cause they are expensive. Well, I guess we will see how it all pans out. Anyway, Shoot me an email with whole name and Address. Thanks again, Boz
  4. I am just stating what I was told by many around here about Jerry's kit. It's either hammering away or using his kit. If you can install a tranny without his kit and without hammering then I must be missing the point of the kit. As for the tranny swap time, Don't know what to telly you Chris. The 2 hrs time out with the old and in with the new is for the tranny only not the tranny and engine. And like I said earlier, I am talking 2 people here and it has been done. The facts are that it's been done and I was there myself so aint no joke here. I am not gonna sit here and argue about it for days like a little B*tch cause like I said, it's been done. And now, I'm done. Boz
  5. On a BRAT? Yeah, You can have the engine and trans pulled in that time. (with 2 people) If you can't then you either are really careful first timer or you are just slow. I've only done it once on my parts BRAT with 1 friend helping me but we did it in about 1 hr and 45 minutes give or take a few. I had a little edge though because he knows Subarus like the back of his hand. Joke away cause the joke's on you!!! Boz
  6. Hey Benebob, How did my tires taste on the way back? ha ha ha I gave him a "little" smoke show at a red light on the way back from the PB meet.
  7. Nevermind, I emailed you direct. Last time I tried your site was down but I got through today. Thanks, Boz
  8. Need a price on the biggest kit you make. It's a 4/3 right? For an 86 BRAT. Thanks, Boz
  9. EDIT: I just got a private message. I can't reply to it because my computer is screwed up. I didn't see anything about a price but the rest of it was the same that I answered here. Let me know, You now have my regular email addy. Boz
  10. Joe, I never got an email. If it is through the board I don't know what's going on. I have previously recieved emails but I didn't get yours. Plus when I go to send them, the people I send them to do not always get them. Anyway, email me at cmakar@hotmail.com As for miles. I want to say about 123,000. It was on a car I parted out. I never had the car running but I know it ran. Long story. Anyway, It is sitiing up at my old man's house. For the 5 spd, my understanding is that you don't actually NEED the kit but then you will have to bang the hell out of your car with a hammer to make it fit. Plus you would need more than just the tranny. As for installation, You could do it. It's fairly simple. It only goes together one way. You will see. For a person who has never done this before, it should only take you about 2 hrs max to remove old one and install new one. (With help) I had helped someone once but didn't pay much attention when he did the clutch. A shop will charge you an arm and a leg. If Dave said he's help you then you should be fine. He's a good guy. He's been helping me lately.
  11. If I remember correctly, someone has already done this. It was stated that you need the other crossmember. But I say if you are looking at them both and you think you can make it work by doing a little fab work, then go for it. As for the rest I don't know. Would definately make life alot easier though.
  12. It's easy. I have done it once. Took 30 minutes tops. If I remember correctly all you NEED is a phillips head screwdriver. I'd recommend bringing needlenose pliers, and a regular screwdriver too.
  13. Cole, If you do a 5 spd conversion you will need to do some fab work or purchase Jerry's (BRATSRUS) kit. Get yourself another 4 spd (Which I have for you) and it's an easy out easy in swap. No worries about anything. Boz Also, You neglected to mention what it is for. If you plan on lifting it and installing larger tires or if it will stay stock. Are you talking about your BRAT? What's your ultimate plan with it, lift or keep the same?
  14. Excellent man! Glad to hear it. I am happy for you and yours. Post a pic when you can. Boz
  15. Jerry, Excellent! I meant to ask you about that since it was torched. I know you cut em and stuff anyway. Whatever you make is fine anyway. Right now I don't care how high the shifter is cause after it's all said and done I want it to be like a short shifter so If you do a kit for the 3 inch and I go get a 4 inch it should be nice and short. No biggie. If I can get another shifter off of another old EA81 like my BRAT I will grab it so I can send stuff to you. Bottom line, Whatever you send will work. I can make stuff pretty later. Boz
  16. I wouldn't say wet disty because it would have been wet on start up. He ran it for 15 minutes afterwards before this happened. I could agree on the vac line only if the spray knocked it loose (close to being off) and then your running the engine caused it to come off. Because if it was off directly from the spray he would have experienced the problem on start up. You could also check the spark plug wires to make sure they didn't come loost from the disty cap or coil. Boz
  17. Yep, He's on here. Read the marketplace and you will see....
  18. Waaaay to nice looking to part out unless the other side is trashed..
  19. Dave, It doesn't look like Dennis is gonna make it. I will be looking for you. Hopefully you and I can do this with the help of the lift. If not, I guess I will hit the PB next year. I REALLy shouldn't go this year because my wife is working 16 hrs today and doesn't get off until 730 am tomorrow. She's gonna need some sleep and that's gonna be tough with 3 kids, wait, 4 kids running around. (Sleepover) If you can, call me somewhere between when you leave and before you hit the bridge. I am pretty sure I can get a babysitter but that's not definite. Will you need directions to red lion? WHere are you guys meeting, OLGA's Diner? I think that's what it's called. Let me know, Thanks again, Boz
  20. My vote also goes to a vacuum line. If not that then try a new fuel filter.
  21. Well, I am just happy we cleared it up for him before he tried to drive away and have his belt fall off. Boy, He'd have been mad as hell huh?
  22. Well, Let's start at the basics: Fuel filter? What have you looked at and/or replaced? Vacuum line?
  23. Andrew, I am not gonna make it up there to PA to grab the wheels. Sorry dude. My wife is working 16 hrs today so I am stuck with the kids. 5 hrs total round trip from where I am. I'll let you know when I am up that way. Maybe we could meet part way to save on shipping. Heck, I wouldn't actually have to pull the tires off either than. How far are you from Rt81 which runs to Binghamton, NY? I am thinking maybe I could meet you up near Wilkes Barre, PA or a little above there when I get up that way next. Usually only on a weekend. Let me know. Sorry to get your hopes up. Boz
  24. No, they mean welding the gears in the diff so it is "locked". You would have to physically crawl under the car and take the axle out. Unless you are using you vehicle strictly for tough off road purposes, it is uneccasary (sp?) and a waste of time. Look at the hatch patrol for example, they are just running LSD's (for the most part) and they go many places that people could not even imagine a sube going without being dropped out of an airplane (don't laugh, it's been done) Don't waste your time doing it. If you rear says LSD on it, then you are in good shape in that regard. Boz
  25. I already have the dual carb manifold (For EA81) and the stock carbs with it. I wonder if I can just call or email a place that deals with webers and give them the type and part number and they can give me an equivolent weber for each carb. I would still have to get some cam work done and heads and maybe a few more tricks up the old sleeve. This probably won't happen for quite some time though. Boz
