Engine wrenching and install date
PHATBRAT replied to PHATBRAT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
  I had to laugh/ That's original. Are you a nurse or something? I never thought of that. Basically the same as an engine hoist. Do you have chains etc. to go with it? Mike, That's cool, I appreciate the offer anyway. We'll see about the yard run. -

OK, Sounds to me that Dennis will be here. Hocrest will be coming. Kecksnext said he could last I knew. EJ, maybe depending on the weather and how much work he gets done. And my dumb a$$. That should be plenty. How many USMB members does it take to screw an EA82T? Ha Ha I am looking forward to it, I really need this car to be on the road asap because my stang is for sale and I refuse to drive it anymore, my wife needs her jetta and I just can't fit the kids in the BRAT. If you need directions, Call me 609 702 5966 or email me so I have enough time to reply (No later than the day before.) Or you can go to mapquest My address is: 890 Woodlane Rd Mt Holly, NJ 08060 Thanks, Boz -
Load Capacity of Brat tailgate
PHATBRAT replied to DPDISXR4Ti's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Those cars are junk, however, the picture looks cool. Make one and put an EJ20T in there and that would definately be cool. -
Load Capacity of Brat tailgate
PHATBRAT replied to DPDISXR4Ti's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Don't sound like a bad idea. Heck just make it a steady incline from there that way you could close the gate because the quad would be somewhat vertical. Just incorporate tie downs into whatever you build and if you can, make little spots for the wheels to sit in. Go for it! Boz -
Well ok, I see where this is headed. No problem. I just thought it would make life easier for some of the new people. I've been around long enough to know the regulars but when you start dealing with the new people you have no idea who they are and what they are about and someone has to be the first. Well, like I said, No big deal. Tim, As for emailing the moderators, It's a good idea in the perspective that you are thinking but don't forget the flip side. There are people on this board who are still waiting for parts from people on this board who are known to be reputable. When months and months pass by with no parts, no refund, and either no answer or just excuses then it becomes just plain ridiculous. General Consensus says we don't need it then I will go with that. Thanks for the honest imput guys/gals/aliens. Boz

PHATBRAT replied to DPDISXR4Ti's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well. for a quad, the tires would be in front of the wheelwells, You just have to get them over. Watch the bumper with the window. It's good to stick something in between. I will tell you, It is a very tight fit. You won't be able to throw the tailgate up. 3 wheelers and regular motorcycles are easy. Go carts are same as a quad with the wheels. BTW, This is my 1800th post. I guess I won't really be cool until I hit 2000. -
It sounds to me like you bought Mark D's BRAT. He's known here as Lostwater. I would go by what he says. He's been around the board for a while and I have yet to hear anything bad about him. I know someone else who has dealt with him and was happy. I don't really know the condition of the BRAT so I can't help you with advice on getting it back unless you have a tow dolly or could rent one. They are cheap.

Just want you guys to know that MeekyMouse (Tony) is A-OK in my book. I am purchasing the lights from him from SVXperts old hatch and he re wired them, sent them right away and they were wrapped in bubbletape and foam peanuts. They got here so quick and I didn't even pay him yet. And on top of it all, They were a good price. Thanks again, Boz On Another Note: Does anyone else think that we should keep a running post of good transactions/bad transactions with names? (like in a person's profile you can leave feedback that they can't change but maybe a moderator could moderate if needed) Or is it just me? It doesn't have to state what was purchased or prices or anything but to say that on such and such a date I made a transaction with "boardname" and it went extremely well, quick delivery etc... I guess it would be just like the feedback you get or receive from ebay. That way, we know who we can trust and who to look out for. Anyone have thoughts on this?

PHATBRAT replied to DPDISXR4Ti's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, I have had all sorts of ATV's in mine with no problems weight wise. As for the chrome, I never used ramps, Just threw the front end on then lifted the back end. It's extremely hard to do this by yourself though because of the wheelwells so get someone to help you. -
Great Job Ken and son! I like that look. Especially how the tires stick out a little. Nice little car! Alot nicer than my first! Boz

Wonder how I'm gonna do it
PHATBRAT replied to PHATBRAT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It's an 87 4wd turbo sedan. I think the front seats are still good. I will let you know if I get it. My wife "sounds" like it won't be a problem but she doesn't want me headed back up that way for a while. (Don't like me going alone) anyway, I will definately let you know. I want it. Boz -
Not the hub, The spindle is what you are looking for. You will see once you pull it. May be cheaper to get a new bearing installed. It's not that much and will give you peace of mind so you don't have to worry about another used one going bad. Just for the record, Just because they say it needs to be pressed, doesn't mean it is the only way. I've had one replaced where the guy used a BFH and a screwdriver to remove it or maybe it was a pipe or socket or something. Anyway, He banged it out and carefully installed the new one by placing something in between the new bearing and BFH when he GENTLY tapped the new one in. If I remember correctly, They only go in and come out (of the spindle) one way so either way you do it make sure it is facing the right way. Boz

PHATBRAT replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I wasn't busting him. I just didn't know what part he thought was funny. I gotta admit, I didn't read the whole thing. I just got back from PA and am trying to catch up. As for the pugs, where did we leave off? I forget. Was I supposed to give you a final price? Shoot me an email with your address and I will give you an over estimate on shipping because I will have to weigh a rim with a tire on it. Then size up how big a box/crate will be. And get a price on the rim from the yard. Did you want 4 or 5 total? Email me. Boz Sorry for the post hijack. -
flywheel lightening at home
PHATBRAT replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yep, Skip is the one that has done this a few times and he has never mentioned having problems. It's true, You have to get it perfectly even all around otherwise you will be extremely disappointed. You're wife/girlfriend may like the car then though. -

What's so funny?? The part about the wagon? I do believe that it will smoke a cavalier no problem. You do know that wagon belongs to someone here on the board right? I forget who but I remember him telling us about those badges that he did. Was I reading the wrong part or was that part what you thought was funny? -
I have known of this 4wd turbo sedan that is almost identical to mine for a while now. Just sits there with a busted out back window. So today I stop and the guy tells me the motor is seized and that I can have it for 100 bucks. 1. I am unemployed and really don't have 100 bucks to spare 2. It's near my parents house (2.5 hrs from mine so I'd have to trailer it home because my mom already wants my parts outta her driveway..Good thing she doesn't know of the ones hidden in the garage Trailering is time and ALOT more money with the gas guzzling truck my dad has and the heavy rump roast trailer of my brothers. That's 180 miles down and loaded and 180 miles back..uphill) 3. My wife would definately divorce me...hmmmm J/K 4. Can't have a junk car in front of the house. Don't really have room for the ones I have now. But, it has a 5 spd I can use instead of the autocrappy I have now. More disc brakes. Extra body and interior parts/rims/etc... I didn't really look at it but I can say, it has some dents/rust back seat is now green (back window gone, remember?) He says the turbo is good but the motor is seized..hmmm? He looks like he knows a little about cars so I will believe him. I think it was 108K on the clock. Anyway, Here's what I am thinking. If anyone could use parts, list them here with the price you'd be willing to pay so if I have to convince my wife I would be able to show her it would be beneficial. And before anyone says it, no the guy will not part it out at his house. Heck, I just want my parts, and I'd sell the rest to someone else if they wanted it. Or, we could make a deal if someone wants to keep it at their house, get my parts for me and then it's theirs to part for $$$$. I don't know, I just really want the tranny. That in itself is worth 100 bucks. I gotta find a way........

Paul, I am not sure if I will make it or not so no promises. If you have a good axle that would be cool. I gotta work some bugs outta this BRAT though cause it still runs like crap. Besides, it has street tires so EJ has a slight chance of going farther than I but don't bet on it. Actually, I guess I should stop with the EJ jokes because I wasn't there. Give me some time and if I can get this BRAT running like the other one did, I will more than prove myself. (While trying not to damage this one) -
