  1. Well its all ending tonight. I will sell the brat to the highest bidder I had the brat for a lil over two years(i think) and its been great. But Its time to pass the brat to someone who will do something with it because its to good to just leave it like it is. I was going to restore it or maybe get it lifed but never got around to it. The best time I had in it was riding in the back(not in the jump seats but facing forward) across the parkway from cherokee nc to gatlinburg tn last fall it was the best time ever. We rode through gatlinburg to pigeon forge tn. and back. but anyways, I hope some dad gets it for his kid and makes it new again and I bet it will be around for another 24 years! Thanks Richie
  2. Hey, I have a 1985 subaru brat located in Cherokee nc 28719. The brat is probably more than 98% rust free. The subaru runs and drives and the 4WD works like it should. I will be auctioning this brat on ebay tonight. I am the second owner. If anyones interested please let me know. I just bought a deck boat and would like to sell this to offset the the cost of the boat. Thats the only reason im selling it... I can work with you on delivery in that I can give you several local drivers that might deliver this. you can reach me day or night at gwywnc@aol.com or call me on skype.<a href="http://s296.photobucket.com/albums/mm164/wncsubaru/?action=view&current=101_4983.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm164/wncsubaru/101_4983.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a<a href="http://s296.photobucket.com/albums/mm164/wncsubaru/?action=view&current=101_4988.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm164/wncsubaru/101_4988.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
  3. What brand towbar did you use? I was going to tow a 4 door geo metro for the size and gas mileage(58-60mpg) but its a hassle cause you have to use a tow dolly.
  4. Hi, I have read the threads about pulling subarus with 4wd manual trans on dollys but I was wondering could you pull one with all four tires on the ground? the reason I ask is Im thinking of buying a subaru as a dinghy for my rv. Does anyone know of a tow bar made for early model subarus?
  5. I have the chance to buy a subaru brat with a bad engine and very rusty.. I also have the chance to by this motor: 1985 Subaru 1.8 (109 cid) turbo motor with 4 w/d 5 speed transmission. 139k miles on motor ran good when pulled, car was wrecked... Will it fit into the brat? what other subarus will it fit? What are the chances it has a dual range trans?
  6. I picked these chains up at the goodwill (5 bucks). Im not really worryed about them beating the underside of my car or them coming off at all. I will be going slow for the most part, we will just be dealing with ruts and kinda deep mud(got my wifes explorer stuck down there). I bought these no knowing if they would fit but they fit perfect! they are super easy to put on and there well made not like those one use cheap ones see everywere. Will these work in the mud? any thoughts?
  7. My wife has been driving my subaru 4 speed and got used to the hill holder and says she loves it. she just got a new explorer with a 5 speed but no hill holder. Is there a way to some how hook a hill holder up to the explorer?
  8. has anyone used tire chains in the mud? I told my wife to pick up a set mud tires for the front of the subaru while I was out of town and when I got back they had sold her what look like rain tires. I had made plans on going to the lake bed but im afraid those new front tires just wont get any traction. I have a couple sets of tire chains and wondering about useing them in the mud? Has anyone used chains in mud and if so how did it do? should I put them on the front or back or both? I have a subaru with 4wd dual range...thanks
  9. hi, will this motor (ebay item number 230208573690) fit into a subaru brat with d/r trans? and how hard would it be? I dont have the brat yet but can get one without a motor and need to know if it would be possible? thanks
