  1. The carson city PnP is usually well stocked with pretty much anything you would need for an SPFI swap.
  2. I believe if you remove the brake line from it's holder by carefully clipping it, it will give you some grace room. On my 3" lifted wagon, the brake lines are not extended, only freed from their oppressive retainers :-p
  3. On my '84 & '86 4wd ea81's, the stock tire size is a 185/70/13. I'm sure your brat is the same.
  4. Flippin' rad, but you already knew that :-p
  5. That seems like the beginning of a love story to me. Your hatch sounds like most every Soob i've owned
  6. I really like this idea for getting the tranny back IN. Good thinkin' How would you use the engine hoist to raise the tranny? The space between the engine and the firewall??
  7. PB Blaster seems to be the choice of most folks around here, although i've had good success with Liquid Wrench. Plenty of people have tackled this on their own without ever doing one before, and with the help of good folks on this board, you'll be rollin' in no time.
  8. Keep it old school ! Sure the newer stuff is nice, but IMO they lack the character that the EA series possess. Since you're comfortable with the 88, just work out the kinks. Start with the drive train and work your way up to the cosmetics. On a side note, why aren't you on the road to Astoria? Other than the obvious head gasket issue. ( ok, dumb question).
  9. That looks a lot like the clay mud we have here in Nevada, pretty gnarly stuff. Sounds like you had a good time
  10. The most beautiful, minty (from 100ft.), gen 1 BRAT i've ever seen (1 of 2:-p ) going southbound on 395 around noon, heading out of town. It was red and had a rollbar with offroad lights on it. I wish i had a camera on me, but i was working. Anyone own this gem ?
  11. I strongly suggest investing in AAA. The premium membership, which is right around 100 bucks, gets you 4 free tows up to one hundred miles and one tow good for 200 miles. If you never use the tows, just fake a breakdown and get yourself a sleigh ride into reno without shelling out any gas money:) I wish i was going to the show, especially after finding out you guys are all way cool and not goobers, well except the Mac guy;) I think i could BS with Dave into eternity. I'll look into the noise asap. It's all but stopped unless i'm turning to the left, which seems strange What, in the rear, moves only when you turn?
  12. Damn, that sucks the big one. Hopefully it's nothing too bad, and he's back on the road shortly.
  13. Very cool to meet all the local subaru freaks. I had a good time, thanks to all that showed up for the help and thanks to JB for hooking it up with a nice place to meet up. Here are a few pics, i know there's more so get 'em the hell uploaded already. and here's NVZeno cruising by @ 65 through Reno:
  14. I talked with Dalton today, he said he would try to get time off to make it.
  15. I got the day off so consider me in. Sounds like it works out well for everyone, i'll bring an extra 50 I'll bring the rear discs for the hatch if i don't get them on before sunday.
  16. Looks like i'll be sick next sunday;) I really should meet the other NV folks. If i have to take the hatch, then so be it. I also saw the blue brat with yellow alloys on CL
  17. Definitely not going to make it this year, not real good timing. I think getting together sounds like a great idea, but i need to get the wagon roadworthy again. I've got all the parts , i've just been kept busy with the slew of small things wrong with the hatch which is our daily driver.
  18. Heres what i found yesterday ... Quite a few EA81s on the lot, didn't get to everything in time due to some extra stubborn backing plates on an 88 GL10 Turbo.
  19. Thanks for the quick responses. Now i just need a new 84 clutch kit and i'll be ready to roll. Jeremy, PM sent.
