  1. Rob, i excuse you cuz you're an old man :-p - but i mentioned above using a few different exhausts I also gutted the original cat, back when i presumed a clogged cat was the culprit. What is the suction tube? I didn't see a sock/screen of any sort. I reamed out the outlet tube with a pipe cleaner fastened to a thick bass guitar string. It increased the flow quite a bit- I haven't found any clarity anywhere on the webs, or my FSM, as to what the fuel sock really is, or where in the fuel tank the beast resides. By voltage regulator i meant the small cylindrical ignitor, that sits between the coil and ground. I fudged my terminology a bit there
  2. 1984 GL 4WD Wagon- CA spec, now under 49 state EA81 power with an '82 DR trans I've been at this issue for years -- So she's still sputtering under load, and i'm really, i mean REALLY bummed that she's hardly a driver- after all the recent work i've done. Done and investigated thus far: 3 seperate carb / intakes (Webered, emission-less Hitachi, and now factory spec.) timing Replacement EA81 engine with excellent compression #'s New electric fuel pump New Fuel lines Both Fuel Filters FPCU swapped with numerous spares New coil, VR, cap, plugs, wires, battery, alt Various exhaust setups Fuel tank drained, reamed, and cleaned There's definitely more that has been done. I cannot believe that i'm still having this issue. I need to resolve this, or im gonna pull my ************ing face off- Does anyone have any clear information regarding the so-called fuel sock, prefilter inside the tank? As a community, we have to figure this one out I love this wagon and am at my wits end! A part out is not what i want to do, but i need a car this winter
  3. What was the outcome of this issue? Was it resolved?
  4. Interested in your setup, Ferox. When you get a chance, please do post the photo. ... cheers.
  5. Dude, resize your fargin' images! You don't seem like a lazy bruva... Horizontal scrolling is bad enough- but the load time, even w/cable internet, is ridic! That being said. Nice clean build!!!! The $$ and time will pay dividends in the form of many years of fun in that old bean!
  6. Got the lifted '84 wagon running with a beastly 1987 49-states EA81 engine. Addressed the ridiculous amount of vacuum leaks/3k idle. Power mirror rewiring (pups, uggg) New radiator and a really nice dual electric fan set to a switch. Got the third eye wired up to the stock switch. Ready for tabs! i'm stoked, as she was rode hard and put away filthy, years ago.
  7. Same connectors exist in my '85 Brat...
  8. I installed power mirrors on the lifted wagon... It's a direct fit, all the plugs already exist in the harness. From the donor, you need to pull the mirrors, the wires and connectors that run from the mirror base, through the door, and exit somewhere near the A pillar, and the switch of course.
  9. Nice work Dave Now all you need is a fresh coat of paint on your hood
  10. yupp... wouldn't matter anyway, my driving privileges are history.
  11. http://www.mediafire.com/file/lndzizgmggy/weber_manual.pdf Cheers
  12. What a novel concept! It's indeed been done and is becoming quite popular... Do yourself a favor and search this "retrofitting" forum, there should be at least a dozen threads, per page, discussing various details of said swap:) And when you get serious, check out numbchux' excellent .pdf write-up, HERE <--- Cheers
  13. Also, driving up a slight incline ie. a driveway, really helps to disengage the 4WD, at least on the 4 speed version of the D/R .
  14. I haven't seen Jeremy chime in here, but he's got a '96 OB... Anything Subaru is always welcome
  15. Let's do it... I'm movin' out of the area in about a month, it'd be nice to see you guys before i shake the spot
  16. I've got one on my '84 wagon and a complete set in storage w/ grill, relay, and several switches... For when i get around to converting the front end to the 80/81 style.. 121
  17. Look handsome, i'm not gonna drive 2 hours and pay to wheel with a 4runner in some dirt filled parking lot.
  18. Sam grenaded his clutch, Jibs is only RWD, Brian's broke, Jeremy OB's too nice, and Dave is Dave I need to move to WA ...
  19. Keep us posted if it the problem does in fact return, please
  20. Didn't think so ... But i thought i'd throw it out there. On that note, the FPCU has been swapped with other units... You can't even start the engine if the FPCU is tits up, i've found.
  21. Don't count it, he's a big ************ Too busy doing solid axle ************ and making out with his girlie to mind us humble subie owners.
  22. Look for ************ on craigslist... I got a ***************in vented, lockable, steel cabinet for all my fluids/chemicals/poisons whatever for $10.
  23. It's a CA spec. model, also, not sure if i mentioned that before... Could it be something to do with the original feedback system? Not throwing codes, and it makes no difference whether the ECU is plugged in or not
