  1. I have no idea gen 1 engine bay demensions. I have a big intake and free flowing exhaust, so I think the EJ18 might be putting about 120-125 hp. If I remember right, the EJ18 was 115 hp stock.

  2. Sounds like a plan. I will tackle that think weekend. It did its bobble thing today for a could miles, by the time I had a chance to pull over and inspect. It was gone. I am wondering if I have a vaccum line the may be collapsing.
  3. Both the motor and the car I got came off of craigslist. As for a thread of the motor, no I didn't there is already enough on here. Thanks for the complement, I am trying to keep mine a little differant.

  4. Reno- Any luck with getting your problem figured out?
  5. Gloyale- Will hooking that up make the CEL light come on the dash like it is suppose to? Also I forgot what IIRC stands for.
  6. No worries, I must have miss read that part. I will put my CEL light in and see what I get. If I floor mine, it most of the time wont go away. Its like it had a mind of its own. Drove it 50 miles today and didnt do it at all.
  7. No I havent hooked up the CEL, I am pretty sure mine is vaccum related. I have that huge intake and the fittings are not as tight as I would like. I also have the bigger vaccum line that is kinda kinked. Im pretty sure that the issue is vaccum. Mine does not happen everytime on coasting to a stop. It can happen just driving. I can feel it surge a bit and to the FLOOR test and its there. Drive a bit down the road and its gone. When I get around to fixing my vaccum line I will post how it works.
  8. I have a similar problem with my ej swap. Except that mine doesnt die. I have a ej18 with a ej22 auto harness. So in that area we have the same stuff. But i have found that when my idle drops to +/-400 rpm's it always catches itsef. BUT, when drive (stop and go traffic) and I floor it, at about 7/8 throttle I have a huge bobble/surge, let off the throttle a little bit and its fine. Then it does away. I think I have narrowed mine down to an intake/vaccum leak. Just my .02, hope that might help.
  9. The exhuast is starting to get a bit louder. Intake is still louder then the exhuast.
  10. If and when I turbo mine, it will have a whole differant exhuast setup. As for right now this one works. Just hope the resonator burns out a little. It's to quiet.
  11. Started right back up. Maybe one revolution of the motor if that.
  12. So I hooked up pin 10 of connetor B56 to the start circuit (10-14 volts when starting only). Left the brat in the shop all night, started it this morning and it started right up just fine. From what I can tell it fixed it, I will park it outside tonight and see what happens. Thanks for the help!
  13. Put the resonator on. No more popping on decompression.
  14. Mine is only a wrx scoop. the sti scoop is a few inches taller. I fiberglassed mine into the hood and it doesnt effect the hood. The brat hood wasnt designed to take that about of force from the sti scoop. I bought mine off ebay. For the bumper pictures, I have the whole build on my myspace profile. And yes I have a EJ18 in the brat right now. I am building a 2.2 maybe even a 2.2 turbo to go back in it.

  15. I would say no to the wire connected to the fuel circuit, being I dont remember hooking that one up. I will start there. I am guessing that gets hooked to the starter relay? And yes I have tired and still do prime the pump (key on, crank, key off, and so on till it starts). Some days are better then others. This morning was a bit longer than normal. Hense the post this morning. Thanks guys
  16. Motor is and is now my DD again. But seems that everytime the brat sits for a long period of time (all night or after work). It is hard to start. Can hear the fuel pump running and shuts off like its suppose to. Also every once and while it doesn't like to start back up after running (getting coffee). Any suggestions? I was thing maybe a vaccum problem, but everything else works just fine.
  17. Ordered a 18" resonator today. 2" in/out. We shall see how it goes.
  18. No, I venture out all the time. Work in Oly, live in Graham. In Tacoma quite often. It does seem like alot of bends. The intake tubes itself are larger than factory. Also when you tap the trottle all you here is the intake. Its a screamer! Yeah I was going to steam clean it after the motor was out... Couldn't get the backhoe in the shop to yard it out. Oh well... ummm it adds charactor.... umm yeah sure....
  19. I should have done the 2.25 or the 2.5 like you will be doing. I was just staying with the stock size and didnt know any better. I am going to take it to the exhuast shop today and see what they say. I dont think the cherry bomb that I bought will accomplish what I am going for. I am thinking more along the resonator will do just fine. I will post what I found today.
  20. Mine is kinda in between the deep rumble and the raspy echo effect. I think part of it is because I gutted the cat. I was thinking maybe a glasspac/cherry bomb or the resonator. Just throwing it out there to see what others have done.
  21. My EJ18 is now running and road worthy. I have 2" into a Magnaflow and dual 1.75" out. It is still a little raspy and pops a little more than I want when coasting. I would like to have that deep throaty sound as much and possible. I was thinking about putting a resonator in it. What have you guys done to accomplish this?
