  1. You state have spark from the coil. I am assuming that you tested from the coil wire that goes from the coil to the distributer cap when cranking the engine, by looking for a spark at the end of the coil wire as it is place close to a ground.. I am assuming you attached a spark plug to a wire, grounded it and saw no spark, using the new distributer. I am also assuming you are using the same spark plug wires from the distributer that made the car run, proving the plug and wires are OK. The only things left are the rotor, cap or that the wires are not pushed into the cap all the way making a good connection., I think you could use an digital OHM meter and check for continuity between the plug connector and the terminal inside the cap. If it shows open line the problem is at the cap/wire connection. Check all connections if you don't have most of the plugs firing the car wont run. I have never done this but I have checked continuity on plug wires this way. I if is an Open Line look at the connection point. Do you see a metal connectors where the plug/coil wires are pushed in?? Does it look like the wire connectors scraped the metal a little ?? See if there is continuity between the coil metal connector on top, and the button in the center of the cap. Does it look like the rotor center connector has a wear spot from the cap? If so this would indicate there is a connection at that point. Is there a metal connector at the end of the rotor, maybe it broke or fell off? Again I have never done this, bit I think you could check for continuity between the center of the rotor to the end of the rotor. If all this proves out I got to believe that the rotor or cap is not correct. Maybe you could try to measure the distance from the center of the rotor to the end. and the center button in the cap to the terminal on the inside. They should be close to the same measurement with the rotor being a little shorter. I don't know what the difference should be, but if it seams like a lot I don't think it will transfer the spark energy. That deals with spark. Do you believe you got the firing order/ timing in the correct positions?
  2. Use a multimeter at the connector or test light to see if you got power. OR Try jumping a hot wire directly to the radio if it plays you know the direction to go.
  3. There is a documented way to replace the heater core on this sight. I followed it and used a soldering gun to cut the housing on my 86 brat. After I replaced the core I used a foil type tape to seal it back up. This is used on heating and cooling ducts in houses. Check the valve outside the heater box on the drivers side, before you replace the core. It could be leaking there or at the hoses. If I remember correctly it said to cut as far down the radius as possible. The heater core is full width as the box.. Search "Ea-81 Heater Core Swap" this is what I think I used.. I got the heater core from O'Reilly auto parts. the valve came from the dealer. I don't remember it being too bad of a job doing it this way. Paul
  4. You will probably get a response if you tell the year and model of the car
  5. I think it is a valve that heats up and allows coolant to flow/or stop flowing to the carb.
  6. Pull and Save has a web sight. It list the cars they have not the parts. I have got lots of parts there over the years. http//pullandsave.com Good luck Paul
  7. I have a 86 Brat. the light comes on after I have been driving on E for a while. When the light does come on I get nervous and head to the gas station. You could drive on E for while to see if the light comes on. Carry a gas can with gas. Paul
  8. No mine does not have a CA emission sticker
  9. I don't think this would change the height. When I did my struts the top part had a 4 WD position and a 2 WD position changed by the rotation of the top part. it was stamped with an arrow which if I remember I pointed to the front for the type of car I have.
  10. Mine is a 86 brat. It l looks like there may be a few different systems out there. I will probably go with the bigger muffler behind the axle. Thanks for your help. Paul
  11. What is the purpose of the second muffler behind the rear axle? I have the stock engine, can I just replace the second muffler with a tail pipe only?
  12. you might try to ground the unit and see if that will make it work. Paul
  13. I have a 86 brat and the Subaru dealer said a Justy one superseded the old one. Try that one.
  14. Will a rear differential from an EA82 car fit a EA81 car, provided it has the same gearing?
  15. For the clock issue. There is a bullet connecter under the dash. I think it is by the left side of steering column, or above the driver side kick panel. I don't remember the wire color maybe white or green. Anyway the connector needs to be connected.. Paul
  16. I had th rubber bushing slip out of th rack and pinion mount, try checking there. I cleaned the mount and put some silicone sealer on the rubber to hold it in. paul
  17. Can someone who knows the date and location please post it? thanks Paul
  18. Try touching a piece of wire to the light housing and a good ground on the car with the lights on. If it comes on you have a bad ground. . I am guessing the two hot wires are : lights and blinker.
  19. I made mine out of solid Black plastic(I think UHMW) I cut stopped slots in the bottom to match the tailgate rib. Counter bored the bottom at the stopped slots for plastic license body nuts for mounting, and counter bored the top for the mounting hard wear. The license plate body nuts snap into the tailgate holes. The material machined well using a router and table saw. I had to make it slightly taller than the original trim because it was concerned about the slot area being thin. I used a knife to thin down the ends so my canopy would fit. The tailgate has a slight bow so the plastic flexed to match.
  20. Acetone is flammable, I would be careful around the heat. You don't want any surprises!
  21. I think the 2 wheel drive verses the 4 wheel drive are different. The Brat is a 4wd car, if yours is a 4wd car, I think it would interchange. You may also have some electric window switches that need to be mounted. You would also be missing the rear seat ash tray.
  22. I think you have to rotate the round lens to the switch lever. The cover should slip off then
  23. Going back to the picture of the carb. I believe the wire goes to an anti diesel device. If the wire grounds it will stall the car. If this is the problem try to start the car and wiggle the wire it should affect the way the car runs. Paul
  24. If I remember correctly there are some brackets near the front that mount to some holes in the bumper supports, and then the back mounts to the cross member bolts.
