Can I resurrect this post since it was a pretty extensive one on fuel lines etc... I am preparing to replace my gas filter and the hoses on my 95 Legacy. I see the three 5/16 hoses there the two attaching to the filter then the longer one ruiing the whole way from firewall to engine, but there is a fourth hose, smaller, underneath these three that looks old and has it seems original clamps on. Can I ask what that is and what size? Thanks for any help. '97

this is a small thing but onetime i had my 95 worked on and it seemed like they had disconnected the connector that connected the fan wires to the body wires or harness whatever. or it got oily or something but i played around with it it seemed not seated and i noticed the fans werent running but afterward they were. it kinda got hot then too but its a 2.2. no probs.

it would b intresting to see statistics on how thos engines failed over the years, relative to their geo location. i have been living in texas for about 12 years now, and our recent cold snap really brought home to me the hardship on cars that used to bn our pennsylvania winters. its no wonder cars last for ever here in comparison to the salt and cold up there. the reason i was saying that was i have heard this myself lately from someone regarding thermostats, that you should go with a typical sube one from the dealer, etc, and that a higher temp one can cook the engine, probably because while it may have a rating at a certain temp, it may in fact measure higher at least for a little while, and esp in those areas of severe cold, that kind of change in temp cant be a good thing repeatedly. in comparison you could imaginee the old vw bug engines that were air cooled. what a marvel of eengineering those were. but at any temperature upon starting cold the entire operating mechanisms would reach temp quickly and uniformly. no need to slowly bring to temp in sections of the engine.

Ive had a sound like that but seemingly farther along, for the entire year ive had my 95 legacy. I actually thought at first it was screeching tires because it was happening when i would let the clutch out, so i thought it was tires making the noise, but as time went on i realized or i thought it was the throwout bearing wearing..

Hi all I have a 95/2.2 Legacy with 5 speed MT. The throwout bearing has been whining growling or whatever for a while, I bought the LUK clutch kit and fa lywheel with a new boot too. I also got a new cable, is there anything else I should have my mechanic check out like linkage or anything Just wondering since I'll likely never again take it apart. Thanks so much. Dan

Oh but theyre right about the gasket ffor the water pump and cost of water pump and quality. I think on rockauto they were selling the aisin timing belt kit with stock oem wp that comes with sube for like 200 maybe 220, and it has the high quality oem belt and pulleys etc. check that out it comes with the good wp gasket and the good thermostat seal thats also a culprit. i am ready to now do my t-belt kit replacement finally my mechanic only charges like 250, and i got a sube thermostat and racdiator cap to go with the denso radiator i got O course thats only because my 95 runs great thats something id never give up invillingly ill keep it even as a backup

Ive had 5 legacys from the 90s. Sometimes theres a leak in the radiator. the one i have right now has one. On my present car you can actually see a drip coming out of the plastic or fitting where the top hose attaches, but in one of my past cars you didnt see it till it was night and a light was on the air around the engine and you could see the steam. The short bypass L-shaped hose is a notorious culprit ffor me, once i had a radiator replaced when it was in fact the little hose. The thing is iif you have leaked enough coolant out off the engine itself not just the radiator and tank, then even though you fill up the tank and it may suck some in there could still be air lefft in and it isnt cooling properly or spreading the heat around thus the sporadic cooling. But dont listen to me. These are just some ideas. It has to be "burped" to really fill up the engine.

yeah just remember on cars with struts they are the centerpiece of the whole suspension. i remember the difference on an old camaro i had it was incredible with new ones. they not only act like shocks but are the center of the whole cornering thing, and dont only take up hits from holes they keep the suspension from travelling outward too.

i have sometimes gotten great deals on ebay you have to use the miata tire calculator and see whatever size tires will fit your car closely but im not talking about matching the one tire im talking about a set once i got a set of four michlin hydroedges for like 100 or 150. they were like new. the size calculator allows you to maybe find other sizes other people might not look for, or just search all 15 inch michelins, etc. on the other hand i got recently a set of brand new conti pro radials, the first time i ever got continentals, fo 300 cash installed at a mexican (description only) tire shop here. amazing. https://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

I HOPE LIKE HELL IT WORKS OUT FOR YOU WITH THE OTHER SUBE I THINK THE WHITE ONE. sorry caps i have gonee through unbelieveable situations too in past few years also just went through hurricane harvey and lots lots more before that. i know the feeling you need to get to work. let me know the resultif the car looks feasiible. dan ps thats why i love these cars though well ive had five now so i know them, but you can go out and for 1000 2000 get a good running vehicle if it runs good and reasonable miles and and smooth youll know the feeling when you test drive it it will easily go 2 years with no problems maybe way more. i meant car issues by the way not personal ones. i was just glad you didnt get mad at my comment.

Hey all. Ive been having a slow coolant leak lately on my 95 2.2 Legacy wagon. I just looked at it in the dark with a flashlight and it seems the plastic fitting where the top hose attaches to the radiator has a hairline crack. At first i thought it might just be the hose, but when i actually push down on the hose the coolant comes out of the plastic near where the plastic tube connects under the phillips plug on top. I was wondering what kinds of radiatorss would be the best to get other than Subaru which im sure would cost an arm and leg. Any recommendations welcome. I did see Koyos which were pretty affordable. Also, do you actually use the same radiator for both manual and auto transmissions? Thanks so much 97
