Hodaka Rider replied to dave valiant's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just tell him it's Japanese aluminum and metric bolts, and that it'll hold just fine. -

Check the pics, case is already split. I'll see what I can do! Might be a few days, as I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow. -

Where's all the Pix? -
I've been putting up a few, anyone looking for more? 1994 Loyale, SPFI. Trying to get a couple (or at least one) scrap heads to cut up on the bandsaw (to check port wall thickness in different spots).
-
Well, like I said, not sure on price. But they are available. What did you break on yours?
-
Anyone want one of these to try out? Not sure on price at this time, but the yard I'm getting my parts from right now has a couple.

Yay! Those WBX were one of the worst mistakes VW ever made. Surprising that the Buses are as popular as they are, considering.

Umm, yah I guess I'm 2 hours away. But the border is really scarry for some people. -
lift/mods/tires for my Soob. I missed the FAQ. . .
Hodaka Rider replied to Tom63050's topic in Off Road
The correct answer would be "Use the search function" and "read the FAQ". But you probably knew that, too -
Posts, that is. Only took 5 1/2 years, too!

Well, there's a few in Spoki, one in Bonner's, used to be one in Sandpoint (not sure if he's around anymore) and me up in Nelson (not WA, I know, but close to you anyways). I'd be happy to guide a tour up here some time. -
This much i know. Also, many of the newer Imprezas, Legacys, etc. also use the same disk. I saw it mentioned in one of the posts that the actual difference between the EA-82 and XT6 Flywheel was only .008" - hardly enough to warrent any extra trouble. Has anyone else found this to be true? BTW, where did you buy your kit online? I'm seeing $194 everywhere.
-
On the clutch issue, is the XT6 flywheel absolutely required? I know it has been discussed in several different threads, but I need to know conclusively. I have an EA-82, will be putting a D/R in, and my stock clutch is shot. I can easily get an EA-82 Kit, but XT6 is a foreign language to all the parts places here. So, to get an XT6 clutch, I have to order online from the States. Don't want to have to send it back because it doesn't work.

Will 2 different size tires affect 4WD in the snow?
Hodaka Rider replied to 211's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
These tires are NOT the same diameter!!!! You WILL have handling issues in 4WD. -
Abs
Hodaka Rider replied to meprntr1's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
My abs aren't as ripped as I'd like them to be, but I'm not willing to put a lot more work into it. Oh wait . . . you're talking about brakes. -
Well, James from AA is still looking for a source on these. He's going to head to Oz soon, combined business/pleasure I think. He said he'd like to find a bunch and crate them over here.

Here's an less expensive alternative for those who want wideband, but don't want to spend as much $.

I believe the Justy had some main bearing issues? Not positive, but I'm pretty sure that's what the local dealer told me a few years back. Is that one of the Justys that's been in the buysell or autotrader? From the coast?
-
Corky: Looks like he's using his EA trans - so the clutch and throttle may not be needed from the donor.
-
I'm pretty sure it's more than just a BFH issue. More like notch/reinforce. The other option is a custom exhaust header, but you may find you need a combination of both.
-
You will need a turbo crossmember, or need to clearance yours. I think the turbo's had a different clutch actuation setup. This may or may not affect you, as you're using the EA 'box, but there may be clearance issues to deal with.

HI!! newbie with thoughts of purchasing..
Hodaka Rider replied to sceep's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Check under the carpet in the front footwells. Also, rear wheelwells - check them from the inside if possible. Under driver's seat (especially at rear) is another common rot-through. But, these are not deal breakers, given your fab. skill. Mine was rotted through at all these spots (and more) and I could still jack up any corner right off the ground and open/close all doors without trouble. Buy it, mod it, drive it, show us what you did. P.S. If the car has been in NM all it's life, you probably won't see much rot anywhere. -
My Loyale engine fun
Hodaka Rider replied to Hodaka Rider's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
OK. Little update. Finally got time to do a little more work on it. Just about got the case split, but had to call it a day. With the pistons disconnected, the crank seems to turn nice. Looks like it may only need new rings and a full gasket set. And a mild port job / CC job.
