Hello all. Need any help/insight you might have. The short story is....my 85 BRAT 1800 is a California car. The other night when I turned it off it would not stop running. The ignition checks out and I believe its the computer. It is flashing at me. I was told to "re-boot" it by disconecting the battery. No help. NAPA has a reman computer and thats where I am leaning. Any other suggestions? Thanx, Subarat

I pulled the whole dash out and went thru everything. Thought I did a pretty good job marking stuff but have a few items that I am confused about. 1. there is a pair of long wires [about 12 inches], 1 is yellow & 1 blue, attached to a small [about 1/2 inch square] black plastic "box" at the bottom of the ignition cylinder. It has a green plastic connector, in the shape of a T, with two spades inside that corispond with the T shape of the connector. There is nothing else like it in that area to attach it to. 2. On the steering column shaft, at the brace for the computer, there is a ground wire. It is black, about 12 inches long and attached to the column with a screw. The loose end has an "O" connector like it should have a bolt thru it. I am guessing that this goes to 1 of the computer mounting bolts ? I do not remember where it came from. 3. The computer sensor that flashes the codes has a threaded "stud" on the back side. I can not remember what attaches to it and nothing in that area looks like it should attach to it. If anyone can advise me on any of these problems I would very much appreciate it. Thanx

That's how tired I am. My brain is mush. The vehicle is an 85 Brat GL. Thanx for the wake up.

I can not remember where the ignition switch plugs in to! The wires are blue and yellow w/ a green plug. There is nothing to match in the wiring harness. The closest match I have with a plug is a white plug with a green and green w/yellow stripe wires. If any one can help me I would be very greatful.

Any good subaru shops in Spokane, WA?
Subarat replied to smithe's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hopkins Auto, Nevada/Euclid. They are the best and have been very reasonable when I have used them. All shops are close to $75 an hour, but theses guys specialize in Subarus. -
The louvres on both sides of the speaker louver are poor. If you have those in good shape I would like them. Send me a personal message and I will send you my address. Thanx again

The worst is the single vent on the drivers side. I know at least one on the row of four [passenger side] is bad. I will check when I get home and get back with you. I am not sure if you can remove the louvres or not. I might need the whole piece. You might know better than me. Thanx a bunch. Kevin

I need some help/advice. I have the dash out of my 85 brat and all is going well. The air vents are sun brittle and in pretty bad shape. I have checked all of my local resources and their vents are in the same shape. Does any one make them after market? Is there a way to restore them? I want to get the dash back in ASAP. HELP!!!

OK guys. Im going to take the plunge and remove the dash on my 85 Brat [for various reasons]. What all would you recomend that I address while I'm under there? I'm not having any specific problems, but it is a lot of work so I thought I would see if any one had any suggestions.

Hello, all. Proud new owner of an 85 Brat & new to the site. The rig came with an ancient P.O.S. radio and I am trying to go back to stock [also ancient, I know]. The truck is an 85 but has lots of 84 type stuff on it. I believe it is a late year [84 1/2 ?] model. Any way, I have both the clarion and other [?] tape decks for it. Can anyone tell me which is the correct one to use? I am also getting a stock Clarion stereo from another member. Will it work with either deck? Does anyone know of a good company to have the items "Tuned up" or rebuilt to get max sound out of them? I am planning on getting new/updated speakers and using an amp. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx, Kevin
