I have a 1996 2.2L that is having some idle issues. Symptoms: once motor gets relatively warmed up the Idle starts to pulse form about 800 to 1300 back down to 800 at a beat of about once every 8 seconds. There are no MIL's (engine check light errors) current or pending when I check it with an obdII reader/scanner. Any suggestions on what it might be?

Thanks for those messurements. The muffler i am looking at is either a 20" long and 6" in diameter or 20" long 4" diameter, and I am am hoping that it fits in the stock locattion. I am running new pipe anyways so whatever bends are needed i will have to make.

Is any one around their dl/gl/loyale wagon or knows off hand what the external dimensions of their muffler is? I am going to be back to mine till this weekend, and I wanted to get an aftermarket muffler before I get back to the car, saving about an hour drive back to the nearest exhaust shop. Here's a preemptive "thanks" to whom ever!

My buddy works at an exhaust shop and was told by him, then told again by Borla... 1) There was a design flaw in the original Design, Bolra told me the fixed it recently but.... 2) Told by exhaust guy and Borla, when doing the system, make sure no weight is hanging on the header, add extra hangers to prevent weight of the system hanging on it if needed. Hopefully this works?

I would most definitly agree with you, since I have single chambers on my Nova and the good ol' 40 series on a bronco, but I put one on an import and it didn't quite sound good. Personal opinion i guess.... I just am affraid I am going to get a muffler that gives my car that typical import sound, and since i have heard a couple of sub's that definitly don't sound like that I was wondering what people were using.

I am just finishing up and EJ in and old EA body swap and am getting the exhaust started. I have heard a couple 2.5's and wrx'x that have a nice throaty exhaust sound and I am wondering what brand muffler gives a good sound to Subaru’s. I don’t want the “Coffee can strung out lawn mower sound”. Anybody have any opinions on what sounds good and what sounds bad?

I wonder how much power you would pick up from this.... 1,.... 1.5 HP? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7970447925&category=46098

I am kinda new here so I don’t know if this is appropriate here. All I can say is a Subaru can do anything, or be turned into anything! http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/~aedennis/Forester/ATV.htm

Its an EJ22 in a 91 Loyale. I just wanted to see if any or all after market 2.2 headers would interfere with anything on the loyale underside. I am more of a V8 guy so I am used to headers interfering with everything from starters to suspension components. I know on Subs the headers drop out basically on the bottom of the motor (which kills most interference problems) but I didnt want to buy a set have find out the hard way that a different set would fit better.

Does any one know if any after market headers (EJ22) will work on the EA82 series wagon with the an EJ22? I looked at Borla and they have at least four different types, i.e. forester, legacy impreza, etc? Do any work?

Wrong Axle??!!What now?? HELP!
Knichol replied to 91 loyale in Syr's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Back in the day there were 4 different front axles. 82AC: 265mm between in and out boots, 1 ring on shaft, w/out cooling grove, 23 spline 87AC: 257mm between in and out boots, 2 ring on shaft, with cooling grove, 23 spline 95AC-23: 242mm between in and out boots, 3 ring on shaft, with cooling grove, 23 spline 95AC-25: 242mm between in and out boots, 3 ring on shaft, with cooling grove, 25 spline 23 spline = 27mm inner diameter where it fits over the transmission stub 25 spline = 30mm inner diameter where it fits over the transmission stub To make a long story short you need the 23 spline or 27mm in/d shaft. -
Does anyone know how to use the D-check mode? All I can find in the manual is have the "Read memory connector" diconnected and the "Test Mode Connector" connected. Later it states "This mode is used by the dealer to check the entire SPFI system and detect faulty parts." Is there more and I am not finding it? Please help if anyone has any more info.

Are they a tight fit on the studs? Its hard to believe that the tolerances are that sloppy on either the Subaru side or the VW side, or the combination of both.

loyale wheel question puegeot wheels
Knichol replied to fgug's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have a 91 loyale with the 390mm puegeot wheels with 190 65 tires with no lift, I had to bend in the front corner of the front fender just a bit. Still looks fine.
