  1. dont worry I have been laughing all morning and most of yesterday, the damage is almost worth it for the pics.
  2. Yeah it was scary, at that point I was more in shock than anything else, the freezing water didnt help either. I have never seen anything quite like it, water up to the gauge cluster! and everything floating around inside, I wish I could got a pic of that! The soob has spent the last 2 days with all the doors, hood, and trunk open. Still smells like the ocean, I am going rip up all the carpet and maybe replace the seats.
  3. So I went to the beach this weekend... Was having a great time, driving around on the beach and such, tearing through all those little freshwater streams that run into the ocean. Then I found a stream that wasnt so little. I couldent see how deep it was and before I know it, my car is floating onto the ocean. We had become a boat!! At one point those waves were actually breaking OVER the hood and the water was halfway up the windows. I jumped out and manged to push the car back to where her wheels touched the ground. Only then did I manage to get a few pics: So then some guy with ALOT of tow rope pulled me out, and said "that thing will never start again". I just grinned slightly and didnt bother correcting him. So... AAA'ed back to Portland and the next day me and GD tore into it, pulled the spark plugs and after hooking up a new battery shot about a quart of saltwater out of the compression chambers (one of the streams hit my buddy who was spectating and knocked the hat right off his head!) then we pulled the drain plug on the oil and another couple of quarts of seawater came out! After that I cranked it while GD played with the carb, SUCESS she turned over and started! The power of subaru in action. So she still won't idle so looks like its time for a carb rebuild, but other than that most everything still works, electrical is in good shape, except for the tach and the horns do weird things, but all in all I dont think many cars could have survived that. so anyway thats my embarrassing story of the year, bigger pics can be found in the gallery
  4. on that note, there is an XT parked right down the street from my place. I would say BRATs are rarer.
  5. yeah i used to live in SE, great neighborhood but lots of car theft, especially around 82nd
  6. oh yeah one more thing there are tons of subes on my street, everyone in NE loves em. within a one block radius: mine: 84 GL and 96 impreza OB upsatirs neighbor: 98 legacy next door neighbor: 97 impreza L & legacy OB up the street: 1 XT6, impreza RS, 3 more legacy's (including one with rally school stickers all over it) 1 1980 GL wagon and an 83 GL hatch. thats 12 soobs in one block!
  7. Well I live in a "cool" area (NE) which also has a reputation of being unsafe, but I have seen that crime rates are actually HIGHER in hillsboro and beaverton. Especially vehicle related ones, hell I leave my car doors unlocked all the time, not to mention I have a derelict impreza with some nice goodies on it that has never been touched, of course thats getting towed to the new owners house soon. So I would highly recommend NE, you could get a 3 bedroom house some places out here for cheap. Buddy of mine just rented one with a one car garage and a huge backyard for 850/month. right on the max too.... plus suburbs just suck.........(no offense to anyone that lives in one)
  8. assuming all fuses and fusible links are good, you probably have a short somewhere, double check any wires you have been playing with and make sure nothing is touching something it shoulden't be.
  9. I am gonna try and make it to this one, unfortunatly I will be watching only, not competing. Sounds like you guys had a good turnout of USMB members last time. Who is planning on going this time? Be nice to put some faces to names and such.
  10. take the pics of the room dirty, gives it character just out of curiousity I googled SWRT bedsheets, subaru bedsheets, and a few others, no luck. sorry Mick about the hi-jack, i guess it kinda relates right?
  11. what? I wanna see some pictures! that sounds awesome. the WRC bedroom lol, what would really top it off would be SWRT bedsheets
  12. might as well throw in a plug for ATLAS: www.atlas4x4.com ^plenty of pics and videos
  13. very good write up, i think she hit the nail on the head there, I especially like this one: "The “addiction” is also contagious. Subaru addicts enjoy “hooking up” friends and relatives."
  14. hey scoob, did you decide to go with this instead of a impreza? or is that still in the works? either way, nice score
  15. welcome to the board, I am a NASIOC transplant myself (sawlid over there) tons more mechanical knowledge here....
  16. turbo is a no no, gives you power in the higher gears, when you want it in the lower. a weber carb should be fine
  17. one word: EA81 (well ok that not technically one word, but close enough)
  18. thank god, I thought for a second you had gone off the deep end. Be sure to let us in when your done!
  19. your not making those euro clear lights are you styles?
  20. i think we are on the same page now. And the fact is you will never convince a jeep person that a sube is better and he will never convince a subaru person that a jeep is better. ain't that the truth
