I put some 280ZX turbo injectors in my RX with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I took the FPR back out and put the stock one back in it to work out some other issues I was having so once I get some sort of fuel management setup, I'll be putting the AFP back in and cranking up the boost with the fuel pressure! But good to know, according to my narrowband a/f gauge, it doesn't run anywhere near lean when under load and boost. It stays actualy closer to rich so thats a little better:rolleyes:

RX is back with better cooling goodness!

Well with not having a lot of room down around the sides of the fans, it was just easier to remove the PS pump since it took me like 30 seconds to do it. Then after it was in, spend another 30 seconds and bolt it all back together:headbang: -

Yeah I noticed on mine it was a little closer in clearance between the waterpump and the radiator. I also removed my power steering pump to get my new radiator in because there was no way to get it into the car with both electric fans on it.... -

Oh, I don't plan on it, though I should get some new tires since mine are a bit on the bald side:rolleyes: -
Stripping paint from 73 Tailgate
Caboobaroo replied to bryanthompson's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
If there's no bodywork that has to be done, sand it down using a orbital sander and some 150 grit sandpaper. Then have it primed, then blocked out, then primed again, then painted. If its going back to the original color, then the jambs don't have to be touched. Probably one of the easier ways to get the body nice and perfect, plus, cleaner and probably cheaper then having it stripped. -

No Jon.... I just plan on teasing everyone down there now. She's back, just like before, and no overheating issues. Gotta love the feeling of the LSD when its pushing you sideways from a stoplight. Now I wanna go carve some canyons:banana: -
I decided to go ahead and replace pretty much the entire cooling system as far as components. The symptoms it was having was at idle, would stay at the normal area, when driving, would get hot, and sometimes fast! Also, it would boil the coolant bad after I shut it off. So last week, I ordered a brand new 2 row radiator from www.radiatorexpress.com or something like that. Also, Monday, I got me an EA81 A/C slim fan to mount onto my new radiator. Then I have had a brand new OEM thermostat and gasket ready to make it into the car. Today, I got my radiator, both fans mounted, and back into the car. I got the old thermostat out and cleaned the gasket off of the mating surfaces so its ready for the new one to go in. Now I just have to wait for my brand new OEM STi radiator cap and she'll be stayin much cooler I hope. Hopin by this weekend I can have it going good, then next week, get an alignment done at work:headbang:

Yeah thats a total lie right there. With any AWD Subaru, you can pull the rear section of the 2 piece driveline and put it on a tow dolly, if you can't use a flatbed trailer. As far as towing it with 4 wheels on the ground, don't really see why it would be a problem if the car was in neutral and the steering unlocked. With the way the powerflow through the transmission works, there shouldn't be a problem. Oh and the only time the pump in the transmission spins, is when the engine is spinning or running.

I've always preferred the electronic ones myself since I don't even have to move from my driver seat to adjust the boost.... I paid $200 for mine but it was well worth it.

There's something strange about my parts RX
Caboobaroo replied to DrKrazy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah Keith, my RX has the shoulder belts too. It also looks like it has a sedan/wagon grille in it but its hard to tell in the picture from it being kinda dark. If the grille looks like the one in your sedan, then its been replaced. If you need any sort of help, let me know... cause I need the window in your back seat picture;) hehe:brow: -
I'm running the SPFI shortblock on my RX and it had the bung for the knock sensor. I haven't looked at a carbed block for awhile so I don't know if that bung is threaded or not...

there's no difference in pedal clusters. When I converted my '89 RX to a manual, I used a cluster from a '85 GL-10 turbosedan in it. It sounds like something might be bent as Gary suggested.

Well I know some people might have had some trouble with this site in the past (wrong parts, right boxes with wrong parts, etc.) but I have had nothing but great dealings with them. I have bought numerous parts from them over the past few years. I ordered a thermostat and a t-stat gasket on Tuesday evening and the parts arrived here Thursday afternoon. Only a day and a half! I have ordered stuff like reseal kits, oil and waterpumps and tune up parts and never had a problem. The oilpump I bought for my '89 RX was a brand new OEM Subaru pump for 90 bucks or so!

+1! Now unless its a parts car OR a demolition derby:brow: -
HTKYSA is the book called "How To Keep Your Subaru Alive". One of the best books for newcombers into Subarus. Will help you step by step figure out basic problems and how to's with your new car. Check ebay or every now and again, someone on here sells one. Also, if you take it for a test drive, feel how well the tranny shifts, or in this case, might not shift. Are the synchros grinding between gears?

My Brat would roast the tires all day long. When I lowered it, it made it, for some weird reason, posi the rear diff, even though I was still running the stock open 3.9. It was awesome to go drifting around corners in it:headbang:

Was it next to the building or over by the "techer gym"? You gonna be around this weekend since I haven't seen you at work in like forever? -

Hmm I was up there yesterday with Harpua but I didn't see any EA81s.... I saw the '87 GL carbed wagon and the '85 carbed sedan but no EA81. Where was it at? I need it baaaad.
