  1. Man you wussy! I drove around in my '78 Brat with a FE 1600 in there and would roast them off with my line lock on all the time! Also would drift it like a madman and never had any problems with clutches or trannys.
  2. Nicky, just loosen up the pressure plate a bit, enough to move the clutch disc around with a bit of force, and use a screwdriver and your eyeballs to line it up. I've done this on numerous Subarus before I got my EA81 and EA82 alignment tools
  3. your best bet would be to get an actual oil cooler since engine oil is thicker then ATF, the passages in the radiator do not allow for very good flowing for engine oil.
  4. Yes same here. Just tried to PM you and it was full...
  5. Loops Auto Wrecking in Albany, OR 97321. Its online, just search for it. Been there a couple times myself since my dad has a '79 504 diesel.
  6. So I have this mastercylinder I can get off of a '96 Impreza 2.2 manual awd car. I was wondering if it can be fitted to an EA82 brake booster or can I use the brake booster from the Impreza onto my RX? I have the following brake mods and such: Impreza 2 piston calipers with EBC green pads XT6 rear rotors with calipers plus I'm going to be getting some SS brake lines as well. Also gonna get some crossdrilled rotors for it.
  7. no, the 3.3 liter is basically an EJ series motor, sorta like how the ER27 is basically an EA series motor.
  8. Hondasuck's has a '87 GL turbowagon with almost 200k miles on it. When you put it into 4wd, the clicking from one of the rear axles is very audible but it will still click when not in 4wd, just not as noticable.
  9. Sounds like you've got a case of warped rotors as been said before. I've seen it happen just a week after a full brake job because people go racing around and then stomping on the brakes, as you mentioned she does. If they're not too badly warped, you can turn the rotors and be fine but if she keeps doing it, you'll need another new set of rotors in a few more weeks. Tell her to go easy on the brakes. Also, the stop sign isn't going to move so applying brakes further back from the stop sign will help lengthen the life of your brakes.
  10. very nice indeed. I also love the Oregon license plate in your toolbox:lol:
  11. Actually, depending on the year of Brat, the EA82T will bolt directly up to an EA81 gearbox with a different clutch/flywheel setup. If you do decide to go with an EA82T, might as well swap in a 5-speed also because the 4-speed can handle power, but the gearing sucks! Yes, the EA82T will drop directly into an EA81 Brat (generation 2) without any modifications. I know someone who dropped an EA82T and a push button 4wd 5-speed into a generation 1 Brat and that thing hauled!
  12. Gary, if anything, convert the car for the time being and get a stand set up to where you have the components of the air suspension system so you can at least test the compressor, bags, and solenoids off the car. Then you can have a complete system, get all the bugs worked out, and then swap it all back into the car. Just my $.02 cause I really don't know much about the air ride suspension.
  13. so what I'm gathering from what you're saying is the front was actually not too difficult to do. You reamed out the balljoint hole in the EA81 control arm, made your own custom axles (which BTW, looks great!), and modified the XT6 strut to fit into the EA81 chassis, like redrilling the strut tower? Or did you decide to go with an EA81 tophat onto an XT6 strut? Looks great nonetheless!!!
  14. I think what Rob means is the TC are different for the cars. Your TC on the tranny you have now should slide right onto the input splines and have no issues. I believe its all internal on the TC.
  15. well get me a set and I can get you what you need possibly;) Let me know...
  16. yeah Rob I know the feeling. My RX is basically perfect for showing me where I need to get the body straight and in the direct sunlights, helps me figure out where I need to work on. I get a paint pen and circle where I need to work because in fluoresent light, it doesn't show as much.
  17. If you need help getting parts and such, let me know. My Brat currenty has shaved everything on it, mirrors, doorhandles, locks, all side marker lights, trim and drip rails and I'm about to start chopping the top up to put in a EA81 sunroof.
  18. yeah Brad, how much were they and who's your friend over there? I wouldn't mind paying for a set for my RX:headbang:
  19. its still all bolted in the car, steering column and all! Even has 4 wheels on it:D
  20. I believe they are all the same. If you need one, I can get one from a '83 DL 4wd wagon up here. Free of charge, just trying to get rid of the dang thing.
  21. Brian, I'll keep my eyes open since I get a lot of cars in my personal junkyard up here. We'll get one of those trucks every now and then and all you'd have to do is pay for shipping;)
  22. Brad, I really would like to get myself a set of those as well. Who did you have to source out to get them and how much did they run you?
  23. Qman has a gen 2 Brat with an EA81 in it which he got a custom cam dome up for from Delta. Not entirelly sure what yo'd have to do to make it work with shims, etc.
  24. so how can one figure out how much the compress? I'm just trying to get everything in line when I go to put the engine back together. I just decided to go ahead and get my block and heads O-ringed to help prevent it from blowing headgaskets.
