Denver meet n greet Monday Eve June 5th?
Caboobaroo replied to mcbrat's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
awww and I was gonna bring your gauges down to you..... might have yto leave some money with Noss and I'll leave him the gauges... -
GD, unfortunatly, I don't have the buld dates for either the '81 wagon or the '85 RX since the wagon ended up going to the scrapyard and the RX was never in my possession. I do know, however, that the engine in the '81 WAS original with 90,000 miles on it. I believe its from an early '81.

lowering springs for 87 standard
Caboobaroo replied to HATCHY's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
psh, suspension is for wussies! I pulled the springs out of the front and cranked the torsion bars all the way down in the rear on my '78 Brat. I'm surprised I still have kidneys but it was awesome when the slammed Hondas drove by and stared.... -
A all the way. Looks very original and yet, very one offish, but not overdone.

I can get more this evening but this is what I have.... EA81 - 672700, '81 2wd 5-speed wagon EA82T - 962603, believe its from a '85 RX sedan, d/r 5-speed EA82T - 784006, this is possibly the original motor for my '89 RX, 4EAT

ahhhhhhhhh! they wrecked it !!!!!
Caboobaroo replied to kingwill's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
king, that looks like it would be easy to fix. Just needs to get onto a frame rack and have that corner (after everything is taken off of it) pulled out a bit I bet and weld on a couple tabs to the corner of the quarter panel and have that pulled out as well. It can be fixed, but the cost is probably gonna kill you..... -
Calling All Td04 People!
Caboobaroo replied to Steveman09's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Steve, I got all the pics you'd want. I used a Samco y-pipe from a WRX and cut it to make it work, I also put in a piece of exhaust tubing to make it fit better. I also used a Samco interooler-> throttle body piece as well, with an adapter from a GM fuel filler neck for the reduction but I don't know what it came off of. Used the stock TB piece to go from the reducer to the TB. Here's the links to the pics http://community.webshots.com/photo/302403464/2381973490067339125eJPOCR http://community.webshots.com/photo/302403464/2832625290067339125qbmuhz -

Caboobaroo replied to NV Zeno's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
best bet would be the silicone IMO. I don't know much about the copper spray though.... -

Caboobaroo replied to Steveman09's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
so where did you get those cool headgaskets from? -
2wd struts will work, the springs are a lot lower. I put a set into a GL turbowagon when I did the 5-lug conversion and it sat about 2" lower in the front

Tranny Question
Caboobaroo replied to ()__1337_CRAYOLA__()>'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
doing the conversion to a manual is actually pretty simple. The hardest part about swapping pedal clusters is removing the old one and removing the steering column. -
sounds good! Let me know if you need any big parts like hatches and stuff. I also have a few engines and trannys coming out of my ears for these as well... As far as your problem, do you have the front parking lights too or none at all? If its none at all, then you might want to check into the headlight switch which I have like 3 of currently...

Cam Case o-rings.... are these them? EA82
Caboobaroo replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah I'm currently going through it with my engine I just pulled out. Decided not to buy a new oilpump and went with a reseal and look what happens..... -
EA82 rear sway bar mounts
Caboobaroo replied to Numbchux's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if it doesn't have the mounts on the trailing arms, you're gonna need to swpa trailing arms or figure out a way to connect the mounts to the trailing arms you currently have. -
this makes me feel much better. If anything, I did source another TD04 in Colorado for $120 with only 1,000 miles on it.....

Cam Case o-rings.... are these them? EA82
Caboobaroo replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
and since I'm also running a slightly modded EA82T, not just "any o-ring" will work because its either replace a $5 part now or another engine. -
Springs Rockers Lobes OH MY! HELP!!!
Caboobaroo replied to SuBrat84's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I got two sets of gen 1 turbo heads in good condition except for the small cracks between the valves. -
well there should be a plate over where the shift rods are, which is also where the detents are located. There also might be a couple plugs ont he side of the transmission that when removed, will be followed by a spring and the detent ball. Usually, if the dentent ball gets stuck in a certain spot, it'll wear down one side making it oblong instead of round. I'll look at my spare d/r 4-speed tomorrow to see if I can find a way to replace them easily.
