  1. sounds like a worn detent on the shift rod inside the tranny. Seen it happen on quite a few manual trannys that I rebuilt, not just Subarus.
  2. I know where there's one here in Laramie but its already gonna get scavanged for other projects;)
  3. Thanks Jerry! Hopefully tomorrow I ca do that and see what all I can get out of it. Maybe I can tear it apart but that would scare me.....
  4. well no noise and it still spins freely but I'm still worried....
  5. Oilpump died, causing the shortblock to have a hissy fit, thus creating metal shavings. If some did manage to get into my TD04, how long would the car have to run before it scores the bearings in the turbo to the point of no return? I didn't run it very long after it started making noise fortunatly, maybe a minute at most, roughly 30 seconds. I have another engine but turbo is a spendy part for me and my car is already modded to adapt to the TD04. *sigh* I just wanna cry... or do an EJ swap.....
  6. Well for those of you who have torn into an EA82, you know those o-rings that go in between the cam case and and heads? One per side, located toward the top IIRC. I'm looking at replacing those while the engine is apart and was wondering if these are them? http://oem.thepartsbin.com/parts/thepartsbin/wizard.jsp?year=1989&make=SU&model=LOY-4WDT-001&category=All&part=Cam%20Housing%20O-Ring&dp=false Thanks!
  7. I think mines gonna be like 10 degrees on my RX... maybe less since I'm getting coilovers and I have a front airdam:lol:
  8. Andrew, rotate the TB 90 degrees so the throttle linkage is pointing up instead of to the side. This helped me so I didn't have to use more hose which means more turbo lag (not much though) and clear a place for my BOV. For the most part, you're gonna have to fab up the piping yourself for it to work with the IHI.
  9. well for right now, I'm dropping a regular EA82T block back into the car since my landlord is coming and I have to have it running. I'm going to continue to do performance stuff to this engine and when I move to Washington, I will build this higher compression engine for it. Plus, I wanna see what this engine I'm putting in here will do at a lower altitude first...
  10. This is the link that I found for the lifter teardown, cleaning and reassembly BUT I get a 404 error everytime I try to open it... I think the page has been moved... http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~camn...lifter_fix.htm
  11. gotta get into the math people. Its all about the trigenometry or however its spelled. I can do this in my head:D My english on the other hand sucks!
  12. you're also forgetting the fact that some, if not most of us, have to run on a AWD dyno which can be few and far between. The closest AWD dyno to me is 3 hours south so if you add it up just to GET there, I'm well into 60 bucks. Then ~$150 for 2, maybe 3 runs, then another $60 to get home. Granted, I'm not poor, but thats nuts for me with my car thats not even done yet!
  13. I've heard mixed feelings to them. Some of them, depending on the brand, are great, and others, suck and isn't worth 25 bucks. I myself have never bought one so I don't know personally.
  14. it was a 1978 TransAm with a 455 HO, 4-speed, posi rear end, full on gold/black scheme with a "camel" interior, and t-tops:D I've seen that movie waaaaay to many times:rolleyes:
  15. Gold man, that would be sweet! I was thinking about getting a set in gold when I paint my car in the next month or so but I'm keeping the gold stars on the hatch and have badges that say "RX" and "STi" on the hatch as well;)
  16. wow, that is a truely amazing score. Very beautiful car indeed! My '79 4wd wagon is the same color, well was until I painted it flat black. I love the pic with the sunset, thats wonderful!
  17. I searched for a couple hours last night to hopefully come across a page that had pics of EA82 lifter teardown, cleaning and installation. Does anyone have a link to that by chance?
  18. umm well Bill is out of town this weekend and hopefully I can finish it up next weekend. Also got a new door on it since the driver rear had a huge dent in it but all is well now:D
  19. but don't forget that EA81 wagon that's up here either Mike;);)
  20. Thats something I was wanting to hear! Thanks! I will be up there for the show hopefully but if not, I'm coming back with my sister, her b/f, and a couple friends since they are all planning on moving to the Seattle area so I'll be taking a tour of the campus while I'm there. This will be during spring break next year:D
  21. yes, it will be an EA81 Mike. Since it is 4wd AND has a few new parts in it, 500 sounds like a fair deal...
