  1. So since LUVMYBRAT and I have decided that the turbo Brat is gonna be canablized for other vehicles ('84 t-coupe with bad engine), I was thinkin about possibly havin some fun before we do so. Some of you remember my '78 Brat being slammed and RWD, I was kinda thinking about possibly doing the same to the turbo Brat. So now for a few questions... 1. Will the EA71 gen 1 struts fit into a gen 2? The look very similar but don't want to get it torn down and find out that they're not. 2. Will the automatic (3AT) in 4wd work like the manual tranny in RWD? 3. How do I crank down the rear torsion bars in the rear? I know there's a nut or a bolt er something but where will it be located on the Brat (sedan, remove the rear seat)? What size is it? Hopefully gonna have some fun before we send her to the Subaru junkyard in the sky...
  2. The TD04 has basically the same flange as a stock IHI RHB5 that came on the EA82Ts. The only mod I had to do to my uppipe was pull out the back stud on the uppipe and then weld it back onto the flange about 1/2" back. I'm not really going for streetable but I will drive it on the street. I already got a 3" exhaust on it and its loud still but meh, I don't care:D
  3. oh there a board member in Tacoma that had done this awhile ago to his gen 2 Brat. Search for Bratwerst. He should have some pics of it in his photo gallery. Lookin good, +1 Oh, and I'm not seein the 3rd eye in that grille but I might be wrong?
  4. how much would you charge for one for an EA82T with a TD04? Me likey the way it looks at the stock uppipe is gonna take a crap on me the instant I start getting itno it. So I'm in the market:brow:
  5. That was one thing I noticed with my TD04 is the whine is extremely loud. I like it. In combination with the BOV and the flutter from the turbo when I let out of the throttle, I get all giddy inside...
  6. WOW! I just noticed there's no powersteering and its missing the back seat.... I wonder if the person you got it from knew soemthing about Subarus....
  7. you will have to jack up the passenger side rear of the car. remove the back wheel and there's a plate in the fenderwell which is the access panel for the filler neck connection in the top of the tank. I would also recommend getting all new hose clamps for the connections because this is the LAST place you want a fuel leak from. And besides, trying to get some 20+ year old hose clamps off are a pain in the butt. yes, 2wd or 4wd, it doesn't matter since they all have the same dent in them for the rear diff.
  8. my '89 has the checkered seats:grin: but that's cause my '85 GL-10 sedan parts car had them in it.
  9. well well well, about time you decided to come back. I think I've realized that the dark side of Subarus is the EA82 side. Especially turbos;) Oh, I might have a cheap source for EA82 headstuds. I love having machinest as friends, especially when they have the heat treating connections;)
  10. drop the mustache bar which supports the rear diff. Then drop out the tank which uses 6 - 12mm bolts and then remove the lines. I had to do a gas tank swap on my RX a little over a year ago. The tank from any EA82 either 2wd OR 4wd will work on a 4wd;)
  11. awww how cute! 2.5" is such a cute little exhaust size for the TD04:clap: Now me, I prefer my 3" hehehe:brow:
  12. I was gonna ask you if you had the engine mounts on correctly but I didn't think you were gonna be that stupid... Guess I was wrong:horse:
  13. my '78 was brown. It made for me not getting pulled over when I was doin fatty Bratty burnouts in RWD:brow:
  14. There is the regular upright adjustment but there is also something special which came on the GL-10s and the RXs but was an option on some other vehicles. That telescoping arm you talk about adjusts the height of the seat. Either up or down, as in the base. You can see the arm in the closed position in this pic of my RX http://community.webshots.com/photo/302403464/1389939403067339125iQUfUY
  15. I have no ebrake right now in my RX because I do plan on upgrading to a rear ebrake. It might be easiest and cheapest solution Andy, just put the Legacy knuckles and whatnot back into it so it can be driveable. You should be fine with no ebrake unless you park on nice steep hills...
  16. but rory is an old schoolin Subaru nut at heart!
  17. Yeah I know the feeling! I had a mouse nest under the cowl on my Brat and when I swapped cowls, thats when I noticed it. No wonder my heater had this stinky smell to it:rolleyes:
  18. looking good Brian. Yeah my RX has a 3" downpipe on it right now that ends right under my butt. Louder then crap but I love it. I'm going to be getting an Invidia N1 catback for it here in the next few months so hopefully it won't be as loud.
  19. Just for ***************s and giggles. Was just seeing if it would fit.
  20. ok I've already talked to subaru_styles about it cause he seen them over on the rallitek forum. I'll have to roll my fenders a bit but that'll be later when I get some coilovers and such to bring the ride height of my car down. Offset is about 42mm IIRC. Oh, come on guys, the car in the pic is a mid '90's Legacy...
  21. right now, since I have yet to mod the fuel system, I'll be running stock boost. I will still be making more power though since the TD04 flows a lot more then the stock IHI RHB5 that was in there. I might have to crank up the boost a bit to make it fun though:headbang:
  22. yeah and I bet Phil's 6 would out run your 6 Jeff... wait, my RX will out run Jeff's 6. My only problem is I won't be able to stop! And there's nothing wrong with being a ricer. I got the lights, rims, bodykit and 3 different colors on my car:D
