  1. ok so I'm sitting here looking at my electrical diagrams in Chiltons and I see that both the NA and the turbo like you said Brian, have the knock sensor. Next question is, what the hell is that sensor deal right under the throttlebody which looks like the antidieseling solenoid on a carbed car? Along with looking at the diagrams, what is the FICD solenoid? What about the throttle switch? I think those are the only two items that I can't seem to figure out what they are, what they do and why are they important. HELP!
  2. If I do come, it won't be in a Subaru, it'll be on my mountain bike since thats the only thing that gets me around.
  3. well that helps a little. More then the Chiltons manual... See post in Marketplace for other things I still have to do http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=385903#post385903
  4. The RX is about ready to run. Just a few things left that I have questions on and I'll also need some vacuum/wiring diagrams since the Chiltons manual blows almost as much as the wind in Wyoming. So here's the little list I've got going. I used a NA spyder intake on my RX. There's what I believe is the anti dieseling solenoid on the throttle body. It has a single wire connection on it. I was wondering if the NA MPFI engines have a knock sensor because I can only find one electrical connection and it looks like it could go to either the knock sensor or the anti dieseling solenoid. Next, I need a vacuum diagram like the one from under the hood of how the boost control box thingy and the rest of the vacuum lines on the passenger side go. Don't have a clue since the hood now on the RX is from another car and the hood I took off of it was replaced. I know I'm going to have a few more questions but hopefully I can get it running this week so then, I can test her out.
  5. nice nice. I have a '02 WRX scoop that I'm putting on my RX but I modded the hood to make it work. Gotta love sheetmetal and a welder;)
  6. its easier to use another person to pump the brakes until they start to feel some resistance, then have them hold it, crack the bleeder screw until the fluid (or air) stops coming out, then tighten it and do it again until there's no more air coming out. I've used a piece of hose and a Corona bottle since its nice and clear. I put some brake fluid in the bottom of it and I then put the end of the hose on the bleeder screw and the other in the brake fluid in the bottle. Helps see the air coming out to make sure you've got it.
  7. Thaaaaats right! Gotta love being with a Sube chick that comes up and helps me with the RX. When I get the Camaro here, hopefully I'll drive it down there when I need some bodywork done and we're gonna get it lookin nice again. Oh and so will the RX but once it runs, it'll be gettin MS&EDIS as well...
  8. I put steelies off of an '87 turbowagon on my '78 Brat and with the wider tires, it looked saweet!!!
  9. Well I decided that I needed to get rid of it since its taking up space and plus I'm getting my Camaro out here. She's going to be on her way to her new home in a few months I hope. Don't worry, I know the soon to be owner, well I'm actually dating her, but between her and I, we have enough parts to get her back on the road and hopefully restored just like her last one. For those of you who remember what happened to the very nice Brat last Febuary and even for those of you who don't, here are some pics of her ex Brat. No worries though, I still have my '79 4wd wagon back in Oregon that is still wanting to be modded to heck and back though....
  10. I wanna know this too since I want to put bigger valves in the soon new to me gen 3 turbo heads...
  11. generation 1 turbo head - plain "EA82" on the bottom generation 2 turbo head - "EA82" with a line under it generation 3 turbo head - "EA82" with a box around it Hopefully this will help in future referance for people since you already know the answer
  12. yes Skip, it is very similar to that one but the swoop on the back is a lot more defined, almost like a gen 2/gen 3 Camaro spoiler.
  13. Skip, I'm in the process of getting two more gen 1 Brats, one of which has a low topper on it which is still in nice condition IIRC. Unfortunatly, I might not be selling it but I can get some pics of it when I get both of the gems from the owner. I haven't seen one like it before. Its a low topper which is in line with the roof of the cab and its flat until the very back of it where it has a funny looking lip that goes up and then drops down into the back window. Its hard to describe but its freakin awesome since the low rollbar and the Brat seats should fit under it hopefully.
  14. If the RX is on the road by then which it should be, I'll also see about unveiling the RX which no one has seen but a select few that have been to my house. Granted, it'll be a couple different colors but she'll be very very quick. So hopefully I'll be there
  15. I gotta convice my sister to let me borrow her digital camera or borrow my friend's but hopefully, I'll have some new pics of it here very shortly. She's lookin so good, I just can't wait till I can get her outta the garage and into bodywork and a new paintjob. Then I can install my new badges and some performance stickers I have from parts I have bought. Then, it'll be time to take her to the drag strip and see what she can do!
  16. I finally figured out how to do it so it'll work just like the stock steel tube. Basicaly, I'm going to drill a hole in the top of the water passage in the same area where the steel tube comes over the water passage from the thermostat housing, then thread in a 90 degree fitting which makes it work just like the stock steel pipe. Then just connect the flex hose from the top of the turbo onto the fitting, basically working just as the stock tubing but making it much easier to do, plus its cheaper then I though. Maybe 10 bucks total for the pipe tap and the 90 degree brass fitting. Now just to make it all work...
  17. My Brat during its former glory when I was still in Oregon... Here in a few months, my Brat will be on its way to being back on the road thanks to maximumBRAT since she is recieving it as a Christmas present.
  18. I'm definatly in for a set since I'm getting a MPFI shortblock from CCR here before too long.
  19. Was that line in the intake just a pressed fit? If so, I think I have like, 5 turbo, non spyder intakes that I could try and fit into mine. What about the hole in the intake? Do you know like, how big it is, etc.? Maybe I can just thread and tap a fitting in there but that means another fitting, even though I'm getting the pipe tap on Monday...
  20. sweet! *removes valve* no more crap in the way of my turbo:grin:
  21. I moved out here to BUT WyoTech decided not to tell me my finacial aid didn't go through until AFTER I moved out here. Bunch of stupid ^%$^%@$. Thanks Brian, I feel the love man, just feelin it all the way out in the middle of nowhere...
  22. yeah the intake is cleaned out now. Had a bunch of rat poopies in it. Just gotta finish up some stuff like hooking it up and hopefully, HOPEFULLY, she'll run once again. Now here comes some questions... There's this large thing bolted toward the back of the intake that appears to have PCV size hosing coming from it with an electrical connection. What is it and what does it do? Can I disconnect it and get rid of it? It was in the way of the outlet on my TD04 so I unbolted it but its still connected electrically. I seem to have figured out the water passage deal since this is a NA intake and doesn't have the fitting for the turbo. Can I put a T fitting in the inlet heater hose and run it to the top of the turbo?
  23. so my friend Josh who is also my roomate, got a call today from his dad in Georgia giving us a job offer to work in Atlanta making a lot more money then I am here. I still haven't given an answer yet though it would be kinda fun to work down there for a few months. I want to do it, but then again, I finally am pretty happy with my life besides work (stupid Wal-Mart). So if I do end up going, the RX will be staying here and we'd be taking Josh's '87 Lincoln towncar.
  24. Yesterday, Hondasucks and I went down to Denver and met up with blownbimmer. Ended up hitting 4 yards in total and at the last yard, I found a complete NA spyder intake which I picked up for 25 bucks! So all I need to do is modify the water passage on it and bolt in on. It'll hopefully be running in the next few days or maybe a week if I'm lucky. Gonna go get the last parts I need today to finish up the turbo plumbing and to get the water passage modified.
  25. damn I wish this had been posted a year ago, right before I tore my Brat down...
