  1. Here in a couple months, I'm going to be getting my hands on a set of brand new OEM gen 3 heads. I was wondering since I'm going to be having them worked a little bit, is it possible to put larger valves in them? Has anyone done it and if so, where do I get the valves? I'm also going to be upgrading the valve springs as well to a stiffer spring rate.
  2. so did you make it back to town then or what's going on? If you did, you gotta come look at my RX before I leave tomorrow (Sunday) for two months to Steamboat Springs, CO...
  3. well if they're 5-lug rims, they're not from a '95 loyale and since there was never a Loyale built in '95, I believe they're probably for a Legacy. Yes they will work if you do a 5-lug conversion on your car. I have 14" steels from a '95 Impreza wagon on my '89 RX currently.
  4. EA81's and EA82's have the same balljoints and the struts will bolt right in or with minor mods done to the strut. I'm not sure about the tie rod ends but you might be able to get away with using your old EA81 tie rod ends on the EA82 knuckles. Then its a matter of bolting on the calipers and the hubs/rotors.
  5. well all of my blue silicone hoses I THINK are right. I looked at my buddy's '87 turbowagon to get some sort of idea on how they go. I'm also plumbing in the solenoid for my EBC so I'm still a little confused on where everything should go.
  6. I ment more along the lines of fuel plumbing. Where does it get the source of fuel to spray through it?
  7. I have talked to her through PM's just recently and everything is going good for her. She's been in training for the Air Force so she hasn't had a lot of time to get on the board. Hopefully I hear more from her since I will be down in Steamboat Springs, CO for the next couple months.
  8. so if you add a 5th injector into the scene, where would you plumb it into? I have not a clue where you'd get the fuel from unless you make a place for the fuel to come from... any ideas? Might save me until I can get my MS&EDIS setup taken care of:D
  9. This is why I have extra EA82 headlights lying around:D That and I can get them for free;)
  10. Well I finally got the fenderwell cut out for the intake I got from an '01 WRX. The full AEM cai kit I picked up for 60 bucks and also came with a K&N cleaning kit as well. There is one section I couldn't use since it one, held the stock MAF for the WRX and two, made everything extremely long so it wouldn't fit also. So I used the piece that goes into the fender with the filter on it and got it all mounted too. I then used about $100 worth of 4 ply silicone hoses and some aluminum tubing as well. I got it all in but I still need to make some minor adjustments of everything and get it all cleaned up nicely. Here are the links to the pics... inside the fender under the hood I will be putting the stock splash tin back on to protect the filter but I didn't get to it before I took the pics.
  11. You can use what you just listed and it'll all bolt right in. Make sure everything is from the same year car because if you decide to go with vented rotors ('84-newer EA81) then you'll need the matching calipers as well. You can use the EA81 axles in any EA71 but not vise versa. The EA81 axles are about 3/4" longer then the EA71 axles so they would help with the right lift kit in a gen 1 vehicle.
  12. Ok I'm here:D So in order to do a swap, you'll need the brake rotors with the hubs bolted to them, and the calipers. They're all a bolt on procedure and should take you as long as it would to do a normal brake job. On my '79 wagon, I acutally put EA81 control arms and steering knuckles in it as well but that involves making custom stabilizer bars. As far as putting EA82 struts into an EA81, here's a few ideas. First off, try swapping the tophats from the EA81 onto the EA82 struts so you have the EA82 struts with EA81 tophats. Second, try drilling new holes for the EA82 tophats to fit into the EA81 strut towers. Or third, try cutting the tops of the strut towers out of the EA81 and replace them with the strut towers from the EA82... Like I said, just a few ideas;)
  13. since its an '86, it'll have a 3AT in there. The 4EAT didn't get stuffed into an EA82 until late '88 IIRC. Since its a 3AT though, the swap is very easy but in the rear you have to make a couple holes to mount the suspension to or something, I can't quite remember. Anywho, just find a 4WD digicluster and swap it in. Also, there's hardly any wiring crap that you have to deal with unlike the 4EAT. Just connect the two wires going to the neutral safety switch and voila!
  14. umm without a lot of major fabbing to the front end and some wiring work, the answer would be no. Just curious on why you'd want to do it?
  15. a great addition to the 5-lug conversion is the fact that if you use Impreza/WRX front brakes and suspension, you have multiple brake and coilover options availible to you. Right now in a stock 5-lug conversion, rear being from an XT6 and front being from a '95 Impreza, I have about 600 bucks total and that includes new balljoints for the front and XT6 front and rear swaybars:D
  16. makes me crazy since mine isn't on the road yet. I can't wait to have my black RX done up all pretty like that. Especially when I get the new motor in the garage in it and running;) 300+hp YEAH!
  17. paint it all white like mine! Well like mine before I get it all repainted;)
  18. Also might wanna look into doing the valve covers and oil pan gaskets while you're at it.
  19. hehehehe I can't wait to get my spyder intake. Then XT6 throttle body or possible WRX throttle body upgrade with a little help from my buddy Mr. Dremel and a few Coronas;)
  20. I was thinking maybe we could make our center diffs work like the DCCD on the STi. I'll have to talk to Andrew again to see what we'd have to do but it might be possible...
  21. I pulled the original EA71 out of my '78 Brat due to mas amounts of oil leaking and I got my hands on the ultra rare high compression engine but didn't knwo it until after I dropped it in. Wow what a difference in power... It worked fine for me and so I don't really know why CCR told you there are "different variations" unless they ment what McBrat just listed out on them...
  22. Glenn... PM Andrew (Hondasucks) cause I know he has it in his cell phone. I have it on a piece of paper but I dunno where it is:rolleyes:
  23. Yeah if you could make the wastegate line longer like down to the bottom bend, then it would be a lot more efficiant. Looks god none the less though! Too bad I have a TD04 now...
  24. ACK! I've had the worst problems using those on Subarus and I don't know why. I like to go with the helicoil gig even though its a little longer process, it's putting brand new threads into the head so you don't have to worry if the original threads are buggered up and stuff like that. Drill, tap, screw in the helicoil and done!
  25. hey man, I'm here in south eastern Wyoming right off of I-80 is anything happens. If ya wanna stop on by I can PM you with my house number. Lemme know what is the tentative route for heading home:)
