Well I finally got the digital camera to work again and since it was a nice day out, came a photo shoot of the RX. After a nice bath, she sure looks better then ever, well at least since I've had her. Here's the site where the pics are located on the last couple pages http://community.webshots.com/album/302403464nPmSgF/0 Anyways, here's a list of the things that I have done it her since I got her back in November: - resealed EA82T from an '85 RX - gen 2 turbo heads - modified stock uppipe - '02 WRX TD04 turbo - '02 WRX top mount intercooler - '02 WRX downpipe with less then 500 miles - Turbo XS BOV - AEM and custom cold air intake - full 5-lug conversion with XT6 front and rear swaybars and Impreza front brakes/struts/hubs/axles - GReddy Profec B-Spec II EBC - GReddy Auto Turbo Timer - full stock RX bodykit - 4EAT to FT4WD D/R 5-speed conversion - stage 2 clutch kit with new OEM clutch cable - WRX 3-gauge A-pillar pod - custom painted tailights - aftermarket steering wheel and shift knobs And here's a list of things that are in the works or in progress: - coilovers - Autometer Phantom EGT, Boost, A/F, oil pressure, water temp, and tach with shift light - full aftermarket TBE including a Crucial Racing downpipe with divorced wastegate - TWE header - full 10 point rollcage with harness bar - 3-point strut tower brace with intercooler mounts - custom short throw shifter - 17" rims - bodywork with new black paintjob (minus the gold stripe) - new lexan quarter windows - plus a few other misc. items that have to be addressed Let me know what everyone thinks about it. I currently have about $2800 into her and that includes buying the car. So for those of you who are kinda lazy and don't want to poke around at the pics on my site, here's what I've gone from back in November of 2004: And this is what it looks like today (7/8/05) grr click the red X's...

Hey now watch it buddy. There's a few Chevy lovers on this forum as well... Just because I have two '88 Camaros doesn't mean I should be "rockin my mullet". If I remember correctly, Joe Dirt was drivin a Dodge Daytona Superbird...

Flywheel? XT6 or lighten mine?
Caboobaroo replied to BoostedBalls's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
This is very true. This is why I got a full stage 2 clutch kit, not just the disc.. -

well in my RX, I currently have a stage 2 clutch kit with the stock unlightened flywheel. I dunno if he can still get them but I got the kit from WJM because there was a shop that made them right next door to the dealership he was working at. I gave him $200 to get it for me and ship it out here. He has all the info for the place and he'd probably give it to you if you asked. -
the only thing you'd have to change is the mounting bracket if it comes with it. They're different between wagons/sedan and 3-doors since the grille mounts different.

Heh like my old steering wheel. I do like the one in the pics that TROGDOR posted. Way PIMPIN!

cooling woes... overheated the TW

Andrew, do a quick search because another board member recently got a second electric fan for his EA82 wagon. I believe that member was Tin Solider and he even included a part number from Napa... -

well lexan will also be a lot cheaper to get and a lot easier to get instead of glass. I was thinking about going to a glass shop to get it replaced and they told me IF they could get it, it would be in the neighborhood of about 300 bucks!?!?!?! My wallet hurt a little when I found out. I'm sure I can spray on a few coats of automotive clearcoat on them to prevent scratching. Just a few ideas though... -

Well them come over and help me get her squared away!!! Its getting close just small things like what I'm running into. I also am going to pick up a sheet of header gasket material for all of the gaskets I need for my turbo until I can afford the TWE header and an aftermarket downpipe:brow: I also have to get hosing for the turbo as well so I can finish plumbing it all in and start her up!!! -

I don't think the hood that I have has the right diagram but I can look on the old hood off of it since I replaced it. *Bump* I still need some of these questions answered guys... -

well the reason I decided to step away from the glass windows is because its getting harder and harder to find them. Plus I can get the tint shade I want without having to spend any extra on going to a shop to get those windows tinted. Thanks for the offer Jerry but I think I'm gonna go with the lexan this time. -
I'm finally in the process of hooking up all of the lines and wires in my RX. Just have a few quick questions since I don't have a Haynes manual or anything. First off, I need to see a pic of the routing of the hoses to the stock boost controller so them I can hook my EBC into it. I also have to see where most of the vacuum hoses go on the passenger side ie the carbon canister and whatnot Second, since I pulled the old engine, I can't seem to locate the fuel return hose but I see where it goes onto the intake since I'm using the original intake. It should be coming out the same area as the fuel input right next to the filter right? Now I need a wiring diagram for a 4EAT so I can locate the two wires for the neutral safety switch, if not, I'm gonna have a big red push button on the dash;) I also need the correct firing order for the disty as well. I dunno if its the same as the EA81 but better be safe then sorry. Next in line is for the cargo cover. I've done some quick searching but came up short. My cargo cover needs to be fixed so it will retract but I need to know how. I probably have more questions but that'll do it for right now...

nice man. Sounds like you're gonna be havin a ball with it here before too long. I just can't wait to get mine running again finally...

well I'm not going to go with a heavy tint, just a dark enough tint to give the car a nice look to it. The main reason I thought of this was yes, to also prevent people fromt wanting to break into it or if one of my neighbors on a drunken night decide to through bottles in the direction of my car... -
Since I have been having so many problems getting the rear quarter windows for my RX, I came up with a brillant idea after a friend of mine told me about the plexi glass she used to replace a window in her Honda. It popped into my head a few days ago that since I also want to tint my windows, why not find a place that sells tinted lexan and use that instead of glass? So now I'm hunting down a place near Laramie that sells tinted lexan to use for windows. Now yes I do know that this is probably not street legal since they have to shatter certain ways BUT this is the cheapest way to do it and the easiest since there's a possiblity of there not being anymore new quarter windows and if there are, waaaaaayy too expensive. That and I have no back seat either so no problems with passengers. So hopefully tomorrow I can figure out a place that would have lexan that I can use and hopefully it won't be too expensive either. Are there any opinions on this option I have uncovered? Oh and the car is getting a full rollcage in the rear as well (I love relatives;))

79 brat e81 cv question
Caboobaroo replied to spinsirs's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you bet you butt its fun! Mine would spin cookies in parking lots with the original motor in it. After I dropped the JDM motor into it, I could sit at a stop light with the ebrake on and smoke the tires back and forth. It also would light the rear end up posi even though I haven't a clue why. Maybe its cause there hardly any weight in the rear? -
79 brat e81 cv question
Caboobaroo replied to spinsirs's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
When I got my '78 Brat, it had a blown DOJ on it so I rolled around in RWD since I got it. The axle got broken off inside the CV as well so I pulled it out just leaving the stub to hold the hub and brake rotor on. It won't do any harm to the car but it does make it more fun to drive. I know I could get mine totally sideways heading down the road;) Plus with the front wheel ebrake, makes for some awesome burnouts:burnout: -

Caboobaroo replied to [HTi]Johnson's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
actually I found that it probably depends on the year since I put 4wd XT6 control arms in my '89 RX and had to do the same thing. If you have any issues, PM me and I can help ya through it. For me, I used Impreza struts/brakes/knuckles in the front so I also overcame all the little issues with that setup as well.
