  1. you'll need the steering rack and the transmission since if it does have an EA81, it'll have the dual range 4-speed with the top mount starter bellhousing so it'll bolt to an EA71. You'd also need the shift linkage as well since it was different then the regular s/r 4wd tranny
  2. you can do it with a small flathead screwdriver. It'll take you awhile to do it but it can be done...
  3. I'm going to agree with Todd on this one. Pull your valve covers off and see if any of the freezeplugs in the heads popped out. I had an '83 hatchback that popped a couple freezeplugs and had water in the motor for 8 years before I got it And its cool you got the caliper fixed. Glad I could help:D
  4. yup everything will bolt right into the '79:D
  5. it does have all of that... just not installed on the car yet:rolleyes:
  6. hmmmm cause I need a new windshield for my RX.....
  7. a flat blade screwdriver:D I had a broken cable on my '79 wagon when I went to look at it before I got it. Took me about a half hour to open the dang thing but now it has no mechanism and just hoodpins:D If you're lucky, you might be able to crawl underneath the car and see if you can get your hand behind it and pop it open
  8. I just so happened to have my intake manifold a few feet from me and a digital camera in the drawer next to me. I hope this might help you out a bit:D As far as adjustment, the FSM for it should have a spec in it to tell you what the voltage should be at idle. If its not right, loosen the TPS and basically 'time' is with your car. You'll need to figure out which is the signal wire and which one is ground and then use a DVOM while the car is running and the TPS is still plugged in to find the voltage of the signal.
  9. Even though the flag idea would be cool, Zefy is right. If some new member decided to join our board and sees all these multi-colored flags, it might scare them away because they might not possibly know what they mean. Here's probably one of the best ideas that I've been able to come up with. We should have a forum for 360's, FF1's, etc. up to and including the EA81's since they are very similar to the newer gen 1 EA71s. EA81's tend to have the same carb issues, timing issues and almost everything we have, the differences are there but are very slim unlike the differences between the EA81's and the EA82's. Then have a forum for the EA82's since there's a lot of them. Then have the new gen board but break it up a bit such as Imprezas/WRXs/STis, Outbacks/Legacys/OBS, etc. As for the rest of the forums, they seem to be doin good and its attracting more people to the board like sandbuggy people to the transplant forum or the retrofit forum for people like me who put EA81 brakes and suspension into a gen 1 wagon, or EJ22s into EA82 wagons.
  10. there might be something thats bent to cause so much slack in the cable. Sometimes, the mechanism might bend where the cable attaches to it causing it not to want to open.
  11. I got: the '89 RX - tH3 r3X K1LLa the '78 Brat - The BRIZAT! the '79 wagon - Beer Wagon #3 the '88 Camaro Sport Coupe - Hells Bells (License plate - WKJ666) the '88 Camaro IROC-Z - the ROC
  12. I was searching ebay this morning and I stumbled across this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7959307885&category=6762 Do we have a copy of it in the brochure site on the board? Maybe someone with a gen I stage I should pick this up, would be a great piece of memorabila!
  13. well I don't need the rear spolier but I will take everything else even if its damaged. I can probably fix it hopefully but just gimme a price on how much you want to sell it for:D
  14. yes tailgate, I know exactly how you feel. When I retrofitted EA81 suspension and brakes into my gen 1, stage 2 wagon, no one knew if it would bolt in or even be close. Well I am now the first person on the board to retrofit that said suspension and brake setup into a gen 1. No one seems to care about us as it seems so we all have to stick together (Paul, Todd, myself, and the other few gen 1 owners). It would be great where we could have like seperate forums inside the 'older generation' forum like for example (360s, gen 1 stage 1, gen 1 stage 2) then (EA81s), and (EA82, EA82T)... Something kinda like that, have 3 seperate forums inside the 'older generation' forum because there are more and more people coming to the USMB with some of the newer, older gen cars.
  15. from what you're asking this is a 3-door RX, not a RX sedan? If it still have the full bodykit, I want it. I got money and I can buy it and pay for shipping. I wanna be first in line for this baby YEAH! As for hooking up the difflock, you'll need to pull the whole wiring harness from the donor car that goes from the switch in the cabin, the tranny, and from the instrument cluster as well. You'll also need to pull the instument cluster and swap it out with your stock one. I'm not exactly sure what it involves but it can't be too hard. Just follow the wires!
  16. yeah cause it would have been rolling more times then it would have been fishtailing... great footage BTW. I'm saving that on my computer so then I can burn it onto a cd to show people:D
  17. I think I want a set!!! Looks pretty pimpin Brad, just gotta get me the hookup for them;)
  18. I have an AEM cold air intake for a '02 WRX that I'm doing some slight mods to so it will work on my RX. Won't take much but I won't be totally for sure until I have the motor back in the car. I have a TD04 turbo as well and I'm using an '05 STi turbo inlet pipe to go from the CAI to the turbo.
  19. well I did a search on it but I was comin up with dead ends with what I was looking for. So I need one for a Nissan Sentra? I'll wait until Brian get's his and see if it fits until I get one. I can only cut my CAI once...
  20. I need to get me one of those custom MAF adapters for my RX so I can continue on modifying my AEM CAI from a WRX. Where did you guys find them? I heard ebay but what exactly am I looking for? Does someone have a link to one that I could look at? If not, I can fab one up but I was hopin to save some time for other important things like my 5-lug.
  21. you can also put an XT6 alternator in your car which is 90amps I think compared to 50 of the stock alternator Here's the link for the GM 100amp alternator swap: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=66 Here's the link for the XT6 alternator swap: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=46
  22. but the JDM EA71 motor to get is the high compression motor. It has a lot more power and only likes to run on plus or premium gas.... It cost a lot to put gas in my Brat after I put that motor in there...
