depending on the answers to the questions spanky_pete just asked, I might be interested in a set for XT6 brakes:D
-
nope, no manual came with it but I did find an online manual on the GReddy website in a pdf format which I read over pretty quicky so I could get the wires straightened out. I kinda had an idea thats what the speed sensor wire was for on the TT. Also, I would need a FSM of a copy of a wiring diagram for my '89 RX which I also do not have.

well thats right. I bought a turbo timer. Some of you are probably asking why I did but when I tell y'all I got it for 13 bucks shipped (originally it goes for 100 bucks usually), then you'll know why. Ok anyways, so I bought this GReddy Full Auto Turbo Timer and I've been looking at it on www.greddy.com so I could figure out the wiring since it has no book. Well I got all the wires (all 7 of then lol) figured out except ONE! This is what I have so far... Red - 12v ignition Blue - ACC ignition Green - "ON" ignition Black - ground Brown - parking brake Gray - not used but the one I'm having problems with is the purple wire. I know what it goes to but I'm not sure IF the RX is capable of it or not. Greddy says it goes to the "speed signal" coming from the ECU. So, would the RX have a speed signal coming from the ECU at all? Oh and a pic of the TT... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=3973 and a few other photos I got like parts:D... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=3974 and foglights... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=3975

custom EA82T headers?
Caboobaroo replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well I got skills, just no equipment. I used to do a lot of custom exhaust for people at my highschool for projects and stuff but it sucks not having the resources to make them anymore.. *sigh* oh well... -
now its startin to look much better. Maybe an STi hoodscoop and a RX wing and we'd be good to go!

custom EA82T headers?
Caboobaroo replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well then I guess I'll be working until I'm 30 or so in order to afford a TWE header.... unless I can afford it here in a few weeks when I work 10 days of 12 hours each.... so my regular 8 hours PLUS an extra 4 hours everyday comes to 40 hours every 2 weeks... mmm money:D Thanks for the info Will, taking it from the people who have bought them, maybe it would be a wise investment for a built motor;) -
look great! I wish mine was lookin that good but currently, its not:( Hmmm I think I've seen those rims before... WAIT! I know! They were on that sexy lowered wagon I had as a backround on my parent's computer!

so Will, any updates on prices yet? I'd be in for a lot more tools as well since I have a few Subarus and plan on repairing them in my spare time:D

Brat Power Steering upgrade?
Caboobaroo replied to RedBrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if you can get the parts or even if you don't, there's a really good Subaru shop in Portland, Or. A guy on the board here , richierich, and his dad run it and they do exceptional work. Ask any board member who has work done by him or has gone to him in need of parts. He even might have the parts needed to do the swap. Pm him and he'll be able to tell you if he ahs the parts, and how much it would cost plus labor. From what I hear, his labor charges are pretty reasonable for board members, plus you won't have to worry about some schmuck screwing it up! -
Ok I know all about the so called wonderful TWE headers and downpipes BUT 400 bucks on a header? Gimme a BREAK! For those who have not had the $$ to slap down and purchase one of these, but are running a custom header that either you or a shop has made, please share! I don't exactly want to drop 400 bucks on a bunch of tubing that I could probably do which is why I'm asking this question. Also, if you happen to have pics of it while you're making it, etc. please share those as well! Thanks guys!

ok its well worth the money, especially for working on Subaru's. I have had a few intake bolts snap on me on EA82's, EA71's, etc. Anyways, go to like CarQuest and get a helicoil kit to fit that thread. I'll run you about 40 bucks but there's enough helicoils in there to do quite a few bolts and since there's a lot of other bolts that are the same as the intake bolts (like the timing belt tensioners;)), its well worth the money like I said. I've done probably about 6 or 7 with the same package that I bought about a year ago:D

Like me:D:D:D:banana:

make it into a 2 door and it probably would look a little more like an RX instead of an RX sedan... kinda pimp lookin though, be cool to drive one if it was the "SS":D
-
you could possibly have a bad thermostat. I've heard of new ones "working" but they have a mechanical failure to them. They work but not properly. I've heard from some people here on the board that its because its an offname brand of thermostat and to use OEM but usually OEM parts like those happen to be aftermarket brands. Might try replacing it or if you had a shop do the work, the possibly could have put it in upside down?
-
LOL how did I know that was coming?

For all of those who are looking to put a OEM spoiler on lets say a gen 1 Legacy sedan to give it the SS look, or a hatch spoiler that's stock for a Forester, or a WRX wagon, 2.5RS, WRX, STi, gen 2 and gen 3 Legacy's... well you get the idea. I found this website just pokin around lookin for a new radiator for my RX and I happen to stumble across it. For some reason, it's not bringing up the prices of the spoilers but I imagine they'd be cheaper then getting one from the dealership. Anyways, have at it! http://www.autodirectsave.com/WingRyderSearchDetail.asp?Recordset33_Action=Filter%28%22Make+%3D+%2731%27%22%29&Recordset33_Position=PAR:

I love the stars on the IC! What a touch!!! -
mine will be added to the list here shortly. I hope tomorrow after I get off work to go out and start modifying the stock uppipe to fit the TD04 until I can get enough for a TWE unit:banana: I also am going to be using a stock WRX downpipe with less the 500 miles on it for a few thousand miles till I can make my own with divorced wastegate line:D
-
engine is currently in the process of being resealed BUT I have another motor that I'm planning on modding the absolute crap out of. The list: Delta 260 cams TD04 turbo TWE uppipe TWE downpipe spider intake gen 3 heads XT6 throttle body upgraded valve springs lightened XT6 flywheel lightened crank pulley and custom underdrive pulleys MS & EDIS setup (still figuring out what I'm exactly going with) WRX TMIC custom cold air intake and of course, whatever mods I can think of along the way.... Since I might be getting a job at a local Subaru dealership, that means parts will be less then they would be for the average Joe:D
-
woo buddy!!! I got a couple packages today!!! In box #1 was the TD04 turbo with 15k on it and the other box had my Greddy turbo timer in it. Now I'm waiting for the FedEx guy to get here and drop off my intercooler and hoodscoop and then I'll be out in the garage bust my butt around to get it all put together..... MWAHAHAHAHAHA bring on the ricers!!!!!
